I am trying to figure out what software and how to use it for making a split screen video. Basically I have 2 videos already recorded of my son, one when first born and one at 3 months. What I want to do is combine them in one video with one movie on the left half of the screen and one on the right, for direct comparison purposes. What program(s) do I need for this to work?

burning movies on my mac using Burn application.The file is in AVI... however when it converts to mpg...the file then changes into .iso (which should be as a dmg)... and i see the folder containing the video as .Before i used to burn movies onto DVD discs... it would simply convert from AVI into MPG and then that was it...the file completed successfully... but now i get the .VOB extension... and a separate Audio and Video folder

Someone at work recorded a screen capture video. Within the frame, there's good material but a lot of garbage around the edges that I don't want (what Sally Hogshead would call "screen crapture"). The good stuff lasts the entire duration of the clip, is not perfectly centered, and does not move at all in its placement or change size throughout the clip.Â
If I crop or trim, I can eliminate the garbage, either making it transparent or black (there's no other clip beneath it to show through) easily enough. Is there a way to then export just the desired portion of the video frame (the non-cropped good stuff) as its own video at a smaller frame size?Â

What I have been trying to do is transfer a .mkv video file which is 4.37 GB in size from a hard drive which is format NAT32 to one that is FAT32. So what I am wanting to do is split the video file in 2 so that I can transfer it to the FAT32 because I dont mind watching 1 part then the other.
So is there any application out there which will allow me to do this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using the pair with an early 2008 Mac Pro octo 2.8. Previous card was a 8800 GT, and previous monitor was a dell 2405WFP. No issue there (other than the 8800's fan noise).With the new setup, I occasionally get a whole screen flicker for a split second, and just now when I woke the display from sleep I got multicolored snow covering the entire screen, like this:

Has anyone seen this with either the EVGA card pushing some other dual-link 30" display, or the 3007wfp-hc driven by some other card? I don't really have an easy way to test this myself, as it is pretty intermittent the two arrived around the same time, so I'm not sure which is the cause, but I haven't seen any problems like that in XP so I'm leaning towards the card (drivers, perhaps). I don't spend much time in XP, though, so I'm still not sure.
have been making movies with imovie for the past few years. Today I imported from my camera, could see the clips moving in imovie when being transported, but when I tried to edit the clips, all I could get was a screen frozen with a picture, no movement, but could hear the sound. Then when I tried to open an already saved imovie (that had already been burned to iDVD successfully), the same thing happened.
I just got a third monitor and need another video card for my 08 MP. I really want to get the 3870 but here's the questions. How do two separate video cards work? Will the two monitors hooked up to the 3870 look good while the lone display on the 2600 look like crap? My background is mainly final cut pro, with a sprinkle of Color (with MXO and yes i know only one card will work) and motion. So should I just save my pennies and get the 2600? Will a 1080p panel and a 1680*1050 be too taxing on it

Even though I lucked out with the 50% discount at ZAGG on their Cyber Monday sale to pick up a plain invisibleSHIELD, I returned it unused when I came up with this concept. I'll be posting the usable skin images on ZAGG's Custom Skin Designer page as soon as I receive the final ZAGGskin product from them (hopefully before this weekend), apply it on my Air, and take some shots with it. My last skinmod with a Leica camera skin on my iPhone 4 was well-received enough to be picked up by Gizmodo on their blog post. In the meantime, this is a Photoshop mockup of what it will look like.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a set of split files with letter extensions. They are named <filename>.iso.__a, <filename>.iso.__b, and so on. Additionally they continue on to <filename>.iso._aa to <filename>.iso._as. This further confuses me because a Mac will list the <filename>.iso.__a first but a PC will put the <filename>.iso._aa first so I am unsure which is the initial file. I haven't found software that will join them properly. Split and Concat stalls out at 4kb. MacHacha makes a full sized file but it won't mount. Stuffitexpander won't even try, and Ajoiner shades out all the files as they don't end in numbers. I also tried renaming all the files with numbers but this too failed.

I am recording a day-and-a-half worth of presentations. The video will total out to be about 12 hours or more. I am recording presentations by various professors on different subjects. 12-hour-video is worthless to a normal sane person. I want to cut the video into sections and then export to Vimeo. Ultimately I would like to slice-up everything into 15-20 minute sections.Â
Is there an easy way, say "chapters", that I can setup in FCPX and then click "Export" and export out 40-or-so videos? I'd like to call a section "Greg-1" and "Greg-2" and have FCPX generate Greg-1.mp4 and Greg-2.mp4, etc...Â

I wanted to know if there was a way to split the screen to see something different than what the projector is showing, so that I don't have to guess which verse comes next in keynote,

Before I had the inbox in the top half of the screen and the message body in the bottom half. Now I am just seeing a full screen with the inbox and I have to double click on the message to see the body. I've looked through the toolbar and can't find an option that addresses it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac 27 (end of year 2009) I5.It has 1 TB internal and I want to replace it with a 2 TB internal. I have time machine backups on an external hard drive that has been connected via Firewire. I have another iMac (my son's)Imac 24 Intel Core 2 Duo that has it's own separate Time machine backup to it's own separate firewire connected external drive.Both machines are completely up to date with the latest version of Lion and all other necessary software updates.When the internal hardrive is replaced - I want to use my latest time machine backup to create one profile on the imac and then use my son's latest time machine back up for a second profile.The end goal being to have everything from my current set up ie: apps, documents, itunes, etc existing in one profile and everything in my son's current set up existing in the other profile.We can both be administrators for the time being as well.I should note even though we both have some of the same apps, we both also have other apps that the other does not.
My profile will be using about 900 gigs of total space.My son's profile will be using about 250 gigs of total space.This is temporary until the new iMac is released.Then I will want to transfer my profile to that leaving my son's intact on the iMac 27 I5.I realize that during the temporary period that Time Machine will be making backups of this entire two profile setup, which I am now understanding as I write this will create a new issue for me when I want to transfer only my profile to the new computer as well.But one bridge to cross at a time, I guess.I need to do this because we must bring his current computer to my father - as his iMac G5 is inoperable. We have been doing this round robin hand me down in our family since IMac DV special edition :-)
