View 6 RepliesI'm a total newbie with Final Cut Pro X. I'm using it to edit aerial drone footage for real estate sales.
I have video from the outside of the houses, and I can edit that just fine. What I want to do, though, is have a kind of photo collage/montage of photos of the interior of the houses somewhere in the videos.
I've been trying to figure out how to split the screen in final cut express 3.0, so I can have one video image on one side, and another on the other side of the screen. I can't find it under video filter, transitions or anything.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI need some sort of free program to take two pictures and put them side by side. It's a one time deal so I don't want to pay for it, I just have images of artwork and their respective placards that I'd like to be able to put side by side as one image so it's easier to follow. I know it sounds basic and probably dumb but I literally have zero experience with photo applications.

I am using the pair with an early 2008 Mac Pro octo 2.8. Previous card was a 8800 GT, and previous monitor was a dell 2405WFP. No issue there (other than the 8800's fan noise). With the new setup, I occasionally get a whole screen flicker for a split second, and just now when I woke the display from sleep I got multicolored snow covering the entire screen, like this:

(iphone photo, all I had handy)
Has anyone seen this with either the EVGA card pushing some other dual-link 30" display, or the 3007wfp-hc driven by some other card? I don't really have an easy way to test this myself, as it is pretty intermittent the two arrived around the same time, so I'm not sure which is the cause, but I haven't seen any problems like that in XP so I'm leaning towards the card (drivers, perhaps). I don't spend much time in XP, though, so I'm still not sure.

It's not happening frequently but it's never happened before, just checking to see if this is a "rush to the Apple Store" type situation?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm posting lyrics up on a projector screen for church and I have keynote.
I wanted to know if there was a way to split the screen to see something different than what the projector is showing, so that I don't have to guess which verse comes next in keynote,
I can just see it on my computer and click it and project it onto the screen. Hoping that made sense!
I have looked around and can't find any guides for my particular needs, so maybe someone here can advise me. I am a teacher and would like to make little instructional podcasts that include still images of a process and some narration over them. I need to be able to control how long to make the still images last on screen so that they fit the narration.I also want to know the best way to package it/export it so that it can be emailed or played on mobile phones.

I have two things going within one edited shot.
1) I zoom into a still photo via Motion.
2) I use the widescreen Matte video filter.
The problem is that it seems like Motion overrides the matte video filter, so that when I zoom into the photo, the photo expands but so does the Matte filter, which I don't want.I want the matte filter to stay put over the moving image

I tried to use some software to test the display. I found when the screen goes to completely dark with the backlight on, the bottom side of my screen is brighter than other parts.... have u guys met any problem like that, or is this some problem with my MBA?
I'm wondering how uniform the backlighting is on everyone's mid-2010 MBPs. The screen on mine is sort of a gradient, with the screen becoming progressively brighter towards the left side. There are also what appear to be columns where the screen is slightly darker than the surrounding area. This makes it annoying to read in low-light conditions because the left side of the screen will be at a comfortable level when the right side is slightly too dim, or the other extreme. I absolutely cannot stand dead/hot pixels though which makes me hesitant to have the screen replaced. I just bought the notebook a week ago but I don't want it replaced, as I installed a Moshi PalmGuard before I noticed the screen issues. I also installed an InvisibleShield but I can have that replaced at no cost.

I haven't upgraded to snow leopard yet, haven't changed anything recently. It's only a few months old so should I take it to an apple store or is there something simple that might fix it?

I'm using the Mac email program. I opened up the program and all of the sudden I lost the split screen. Before I had the inbox in the top half of the screen and the message body in the bottom half. Now I am just seeing a full screen with the inbox and I have to double click on the message to see the body. I've looked through the toolbar and can't find an option that addresses it.

When I try to create a camera archive from the card a videographer gave me I see that the archive grows to the expected size but then I get a message saying "Unable to create camera archive". Here is what the card looks like with all its folders open:
Here is the Inspector from one of the files on the card:
Here is how Final Cut sees the card from the import window:
I also imported the files without making a camera archive. In that case Final Cut copied all of the files, not letting me choose the option to leave the files in place. I am able to use the files so copied, except the audio is missing in the final frame of each clip, an example of which you can see below. There is a video image in the final frame and it is different from the one before it and the one after it.
I've also tried to process the files with ClipWrap but ClipWrap does not allow me to drag anything from the card onto its clip window. Why does Final Cut fail to create an archive?
Is there any better way to import the files than the way that led to the missing frame of audio on the end of each clip?
