Just wanted to start a thread here to say I came up with an exciting skin for my precious 11.6" MacBook Air. Even though I lucked out with the 50% discount at ZAGG on their Cyber Monday sale to pick up a plain invisibleSHIELD, I returned it unused when I came up with this concept. I'll be posting the usable skin images on ZAGG's Custom Skin Designer page as soon as I receive the final ZAGGskin product from them (hopefully before this weekend), apply it on my Air, and take some shots with it. My last skinmod with a Leica camera skin on my iPhone 4 was well-received enough to be picked up by Gizmodo on their blog post. In the meantime, this is a Photoshop mockup of what it will look like.
I am trying to figure out what software and how to use it for making a split screen video. Basically I have 2 videos already recorded of my son, one when first born and one at 3 months. What I want to do is combine them in one video with one movie on the left half of the screen and one on the right, for direct comparison purposes. What program(s) do I need for this to work?
I am in the market for a keyboard skin for my 2010 13" MBP. I looked at the Moshi but apparently there is a heating issue. What keyboard skins, if any of you use it, do you guys recommend? And did Speck update their shell cases for the MBP yet?
When i still had my Unibody White MacBook a company by the name "The Lucky Labs" sent me this for review purposes. Let me know what you guys think of it. Just thought about sharing it with you guys and hopefully y'all would find it interesting
I'm looking for a keyboard skin or protector for my 13" late 2010 MBA. Does anyone know of any? I know of moshi but I've heard conflicting reports on it's compatability..
When I first got my MBP I saw a real high quality skin that was multiple pieces and had the contours of the computer. I didn't get it at the time and now I really regret it. I just got my wife a new 15" MBP and I want to make sure to get one since she's super hard on computers.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7) On my old MacBook Pro, I had a Speck hardshell, and it was great, but added a lot of bulk. So for my new MacBook Air 11, I want something that protects it from scratches without making it ugly and bulky.
The choices I'm considering: 1 - ZaggSkin - I like the fact That I can choose my own design 2 - ICarbons - Looks really sleek 3 - Wrapsol - Keeps the naked look with a matte finish, unlike the invisibleshield, which is shiny and reflective..
What do you recommend, if you have experience with any of these? Hows the quality?- I dont want it peeling up after a few months.. Or is there anything better?
After much anticipation I received my new Macbook Pro aluminum body a few weeks ago and it was missing something very crucial, a protective covering. Of course no one wants to disturb the precious looks of their new elegant Macbook Pro, the only way to preserve the original look of the laptop is by a skin. There are currently two highly praised companies that provide skins for many electronics from cell phones ipods and to laptops. Bestskinsever www.bestskinsever.com $27.99 and Invisible Shield www.zagg.com $54.99. I currently have the BSE version installed on my Macbook Pro and find it great. Let me start off with explaining what comes in the kit.
What is Included in the kit: I should use the term Kit useless because it comes in a large envelope with 3 sheets each having different parts of the total body skin attached. There is one single piece for the top part of the laptop, a cover for the battery compartment, a small piece for the latch for the battery cover, another piece for the remaining underbody, two separate pieces for the wrist guard near the trackpad and one for the trackpad as well (I did not use the track pad and will explain later). In addition there are 2 pieces that run along the front two sides of the laptop before it hits the express card slot on one side and security lock latch on the other side. There is one strip covering the portion of the back side of the laptop which is attached to the main lid and two small strips covering on the rear edges of the laptop. Basically this kit has you covered on every level for protecting your new $2000 investment. The great thing about the kit is that it does not cover up any screws which is noted on the bottom side of the laptop. also there is a space for the button for battery life so that is not covered up...................
Has anyone noticed that with a keyboard skin, the sound is much worse (muted, no treble) on the MBA? Is this common to all Macs or is it only on the MBA? Is the keyboard the, y'know, vent or something for the speakers? I have a 13" MBA, and a Moshi clearguard skin.. I'm a first time Mac switcher so I didn't know if this was common. I do 900miles of research before every purchase, even been lurking around this forum for ages now, but I never read about anything like this - only that keyboard skins may or may not make it run warmer.
Will the clearguard available right now fit on the Oct. 10 MBA 13" laptop keyboards? Are they releasing a new skin specifically for the new line of macbook airs? What's the deal?
So I have the 2008 white Macbook and I recently got the infamous palmrest cracks repaired for free by Apple. Do you think buying one of these skins will help prevent the cracks as it would lessen the pressure when I close my laptop?
Here are some pics of my Macbook Air with a 3acp skin and an invisibleShield. I also have a skin on my iPhone. Pictures of that as well as bigger versions of the above pictures can be found here. Honestly, the 3acp skin is more decorative than protective by far on the outside, but on the inside, I feel much better putting my sweaty palms on the skin. If ever the skin gets worn out from my palms resting on it, I can remove it and replace it easily. Also, I had thought I wasn't going to want the part on the trackpad, but it was easier to install it and then remove it than to install the rest of it while avoiding installing the part on the trackpad. So I installed it all to start with the intention of removing the trackpad portion, but after it was installed I was surprised at how much I liked it and how smoothly the mouse still works. I also figure that this will also protect that portion of the laptop from being worn by my sweaty and oily fingers.
I have the Moshi Palmguard/Trackpad cover on my Black MacBook and would like to now protect the keyboard as well. I don't want those shiny marks to start showing up on my space bar. I searched the forums but didn't find any solid suggestions. Can my fellow Blackbook users point me to something I won't regret purchasing?
I have a wrist guard on my old macbook pro it was just a clean plastic film and for the life me I can't remember where I bought it from. I would like to get it for my new MBP
If it is possible to connect an IMac to a macbook pro and use the mbp's keyboard and screen as an external monitor? The reason is I need the most powerful IMac for the programs I am running, but i love notebook interfaces.
Are there any cases for 13" MBA that stays on the MBA while using the notebook with screen opened so you do not have to remove the MBA out of the sleeve each time you use it?
i have been looking around for a kayboard skin/protector from the dust and other things but i just thought isn't the one with florescnece letters like with some watches numbers or other things? and the best of all they will be charged by the LED so? have you guys seeing any around? or one good skin cover thank
I just got my old macbook replaced by the new unibody macbook. I had a keyboard skin on my old one to protect the keyboard and it was the full version to cover the palm area as well from dirt and wear. Do you guys think its necessary to get a skin that covers the palm area on the unibody or will a skin that just covers the key suffice? Is the palm area on the unibody easily scratched or worn in color? Any ideas on where to find the best deals on such products?
It's the last question before I buy the MBA. I have a program that can run under Win or MAC. That's a Picture convert and compile program work with my project. This program needs 100% CPU to and last 15 minutes to work under my old Pemtium M 1.6Ghz notebook. Usually I do my job use my notebook in home or my desktop PC in office. But occasionally I need to do some compile outside the office.
So I really need to know whether the MBA will definitely shutdown one core when the CPU usage is 100% and last 15 minutes? Or maybe you can tell me if the MBA will shutdown when rendering a project in Mayar or 3D Max last 15 minutes. It's important to me before I buy the MBA. I just need a light notebook and I can do some hard job occasionally, but reliable. I like a Fujisu S6510 too, but it is too expensive and heaver than MBA.
Yesterday, I upgraded to iWork09 and today I cannot get my MacBookPro to turn on. I have tried all the recommended reboot methods but nothing seems to work. I suspect the new software is the culprit because at the end of the load, there was a message to say the disc could not complete because of 'damage'. The software worked fine but I noticed the notebook was running significantly slower and now, I cannot even turn on.
I'm in the process of researching my next notebook purchase. If people could attempt to maintain an unbiased viewpoint that would be very useful. I'm a qualified accountant currently offering personal tax and finance advice. The form factor I've decided on is 15". I've considered the 13" but I can't justify giving up the screen real-estate (and the fact I'd go for the hi-res screen) for the added mobility. My everyday tasks are split between work and home use. As a general oversight these include multimedia, photo editing and extensive MS Word/Excel. Assuming I go Mac OS I will also require decent Virtualization performance on the occasion I need to run Windows software I use for my work. The packages cannot be found in Mac OS form.
The following factors are also important: -Build Quality -Battery Life -Value for Money Hardware & Specification
From the first two points you can see why I am considering the 15" mid-range i5 MBP. But I am struggling to overcome the third point. For example a similar specfied Vaio E Series is approx. $1000 ($700) a-drift and includes a BDVD player. But bad experiences with windows notebooks have taught me that they are generally built to last 18-24 months at the very best. If I could find a machine with the build quality and battery life of a MBP with a windows OS I'd be more than happy. Don't get me wrong, I love Mac OS, however the financial industry in the UK seems to be significantly dominated by Windows software and I refuse to run two machines.
