Final Cut Pro X :: Export Large (huge) Video In Separate Chunks?

Dec 2, 2014

I'm fully up-to-date with all the software.

I am recording a day-and-a-half worth of presentations.  The video will total out to be about 12 hours or more.  I am recording presentations by various professors on different subjects.  12-hour-video is worthless to a normal sane person.  I want to cut the video into sections and then export to Vimeo.  Ultimately I would like to slice-up everything into 15-20 minute sections.

Is there an easy way, say "chapters", that I can setup in FCPX and then click "Export" and export out 40-or-so videos?  I'd like to call a section "Greg-1" and "Greg-2" and have FCPX generate Greg-1.mp4 and Greg-2.mp4, etc...

OS X :: Send Large Chunks Of Video Back And Forth (500mb Up To 4gb)

Nov 25, 2008

I'm working on a video project in which it is necessary to send large chunks of video back and forth (500mb up to 4gb). So far, we've been using iDisk, and it's painful. It's dreadfully slow and times out occasionally. Is there a way to simply connect to each others Mac using Leopard? If we have the ISP information? I'm new at this, so I'm not too sure of what information we'd need.

MacBook Pro :: Huge Chunks Of Dust Smack In Middle Of Screen

Feb 16, 2010

I got my unibody MacBook right after they came out, probably Oct (?) 2008. I was gonna buy the AppleCare but didn't and now, there are huge chunks of dust smack in the middle of my screen. Any tips on what to do? I went to the Apple Store at the Mall of America and the Genius was a total dick, saying since it was past warranty, even though it's a manufacturing defect I have to pay to get it fixed. I live in Chicago so I didn't want it fixed there anyway, I wanted to see what they'd do.

I remember my gf has the white plastic one and when the plastic at the bottom was cracking they replaced it way after warranty since it was a known defect. Won't they do that for me too? I'm fully prepared to go in and raise total hell if necessary.

Final Cut Pro X :: 10.1.3 - Export Audio As Separate Files From Multicam Clip

Aug 27, 2014

I've been trying to to export my Audio from FCPX 10.1.3 as Separate Files (per Roles) from a Multicam clip but it stops and freezes after exporting the first Audio track listed in the export setting. Example:

I have a Multicam clip with 3 Audio Roles (Bob, John and Marc, all assigned to their Audio Roles). When i export Audio as Roles (separate files), i then select all the Roles i want to export: Marc + John + Bob. It will export up to 35% or so and freeze. Then i look in the Finder location of the export to see the audio of Marc only.

If i put John + Marc + Bob, i will see the Audio for John only and so on.If (i have to at this point) i cancel the export, the audio file gets deleted and i get nothing out of FCP. Is there a way to export Audio as Separate Roles file from a Multicam clip or do i need to add all the Audio clip separately from the Multicam on the Timeline?

I'm adding the audio in the Multicam clip so that, if i want to remove a chunk of video from the timeline, The audio attached to it will also be removed and everything stays sync'ed after the cut i made.

I tried Detaching the Audio from the Main Timeline.  I then get the Audio but still in a "multi cam" bundle.  When i select that and look in the Inspector, i see all the Roles but i can't Export like i want to.

Final Cut Studio :: Extract Middle Portion Of Video Frame As Separate / Smaller Video

Aug 21, 2014

Someone at work recorded a screen capture video. Within the frame, there's good material but a lot of garbage around the edges that I don't want (what Sally Hogshead would call "screen crapture"). The good stuff lasts the entire duration of the clip, is not perfectly centered, and does not move at all in its placement or change size throughout the clip.

If I crop or trim, I can eliminate the garbage, either making it transparent or black (there's no other clip beneath it to show through) easily enough.  Is there a way to then export just the desired portion of the video frame (the non-cropped good stuff) as its own video at a smaller frame size?

Final Cut Pro X :: Export Whole Video After Editing In All Different Shots

Dec 12, 2014

Final Cut Studio :: When Export Sequence Edited With QuickTime / Playback Video Different On Timeline

Nov 30, 2014

Specs: IOS 10.6.8
Processor 2.4GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 -- Everything is edited, sourced, and stored on an 2TB external hard drive to make things go faster.
Editing with FCP 7

When I export the sequence I edited with quicktime, the playback video is very different from what I edited on the timeline. The playback has the clips with ins and outs that are way off than what I cut, and some of the clips don't show at all or have changed transitions. However when I play in the timeline in FCP, the sequence is fine, just the way I cut it.

The source of the clips was one long .mov that I cut into clips for the timeline. Everything has gone smoothly but the exported .mov is just so different. How can I get the time codes of the clips to be the same in the exported .movs? I just want the quicktime .mov to represent my edit exactly. can I play within the FCP player window and Log and Capture?

Final Cut Pro X :: Correcting Text In Project That Will Not Show Separate Text From Video

Dec 7, 2014

So I found the lost project in FCPX.  It has a music tract, text and video.  When I pulled the project down for editing, I am able to separate the music from the video, but the text bubbles do not appear above the video allowing me to change the misspelled words that need editing.I've searched all of my backup drives for the original footage in case I have to re-edit the whole thing, but I'm unable to find the original footage.  Every event in my libraries appears as a finished project.

Final Cut Pro X :: Master File Is Huge - How To Compress And Keep Quality As Well

Jun 26, 2014

My master file is huge.  How do I compress it so that I keep quality but that it is a manageable size for people to be able to buy and download from my website.  It is a 1 and a half hour film and has come in at a whopping 80GB.  Do I have some settings wrong here?  I am using 10.1.1 Final Cut Pro X.  I obviously don't want to store master files that big every time I make a film this long or is that just how it has to be?

Final Cut Pro :: How To Export QT HDV PC Codec

Aug 2, 2010

My normal workflow is to shoot HDV 1080i60 and import via a Sony HD-700 clamshell via firewire into FCP 6.0.6 working with a sequence set to HDV 1080i60. Depending on my next steps, I'll either export straight from here, do a QT conversion, or transfer the sequence to a Pro Res sequence and export from there. I'll often send a compressed (H.264) file to the client via yousendit. Never has there been a problem with the workflow or the client opening the file on a PC...

Now the other day, for the first time I had to work off of my portable set-up....FCE off a macbook pro and an external 7200 rpm hard drive. I imported with the only available choice (apple intermediate codec) and went about my edit. I exported and sent the file....While the file was fine on my laptop the PC user could only HEAR the QT file but got no picture. I was able to burn a DVD and move the operation to my desktop.

But after countless attempts at troubleshooting, including printing to tape and reimporting, recapturing all the original footage from tape, using my standard sequence settings, etc. I still can only export a QT file that is unable to be properly viewed by PC users.

Final Cut Pro X :: Version 10.1.3 - Why Files So Large

Dec 4, 2014

I am currently working on an IMac Quad Core Processor W / OS X Mavericks 10.9.5, with 16GB of RAM and 8GB video Card and a 1TB drive (512 Solid State/512 Hard Drive).  I am using Final Cut Pro X version 10.1.3.

I am pretty new to a MAC system and still learning the in's and out's of the system and how to use it.  I have done 4 projects in FCP X and I have around 28GB of data storage left on my 1TB drive.  When I looked up one project that is 54 minutes long, it says that file is 500GB and it is not loaded with special effects at all? I cannot believe that it would take that much space.

Here is some information on how I start a project...

I will create a new Library, then I will import media into separate events such as Camera 1 video, Camera 2 video and such.

Having troubles too, getting the camera to record in native FCP .mov's. Despite setting to .mov mode in the camera's file format option, it still seems to pump out xdcam ex files...What I want is to record straight sony xdcam files, is there some setting in the camera I am missing?

Final Cut Pro X :: No Response When Trying To Export Project

So I finished my project , go to export, and no response. When I try and export to vimeo or you tube I get this error -

"The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1.)"

Its not a camera import issue. I actually made another project with clips that I know to have exported, with no problem. And again, there is no response when I  export project.

And I can't uninstall fcpx because I have clips saved to the program. And hard drive is dead.

Final Cut Pro X :: Suddenly Quits And Won't Export To YouTube

Jun 6, 2014

I am new to FCP (I also have Motion and Compressor). My computer is new (specifics below in the error message). I have been trying to upload a 10 minute video to YouTube for 2 days without success. FCP drops a lot and last night I tried to compress the video via Compressor and received the message I did not have the YouTube ID or password (after it spent 30 minutes compressing). ?

I have had luck exporting to YouTube before from FCP so it isn't a password problem per se. Granted, those videos were ony 2 minutes long. I do not have a lot of graphics within the video.. it is just long. I shot the video with a Rebel T5i HD 1920x1080 24p. I accidentally changed the settings from 23.98 to 24p prior to uploading this video footage and am unsure whether or not that has affected the upload.

Regardless, I will not do that in the future as I believe I should have left it as 23.98. I also created a 7 second introduction via Motion and imported it into the movie. Would it be better to upload to YouTube on my own? Outside of FCP? I was thinking exporting via Compressor might work, but no luck.
