Feb 7, 2009burning movies on my mac using Burn application.The file is in AVI... however when it converts to mpg...the file then changes into .iso (which should be as a dmg)... and i see the folder containing the video as .Before i used to burn movies onto DVD discs... it would simply convert from AVI into MPG and then that was it...the file completed successfully... but now i get the .VOB extension... and a separate Audio and Video folder

Mar 31, 2012I have an iMac 27 (end of year 2009) I5.It has 1 TB internal and I want to replace it with a 2 TB internal. I have time machine backups on an external hard drive that has been connected via Firewire. I have another iMac (my son's)Imac 24 Intel Core 2 Duo that has it's own separate Time machine backup to it's own separate firewire connected external drive.Both machines are completely up to date with the latest version of Lion and all other necessary software updates.When the internal hardrive is replaced - I want to use my latest time machine backup to create one profile on the imac and then use my son's latest time machine back up for a second profile.The end goal being to have everything from my current set up ie: apps, documents, itunes, etc existing in one profile and everything in my son's current set up existing in the other profile.We can both be administrators for the time being as well.I should note even though we both have some of the same apps, we both also have other apps that the other does not.
My profile will be using about 900 gigs of total space.My son's profile will be using about 250 gigs of total space.This is temporary until the new iMac is released.Then I will want to transfer my profile to that leaving my son's intact on the iMac 27 I5.I realize that during the temporary period that Time Machine will be making backups of this entire two profile setup, which I am now understanding as I write this will create a new issue for me when I want to transfer only my profile to the new computer as well.But one bridge to cross at a time, I guess.I need to do this because we must bring his current computer to my father - as his iMac G5 is inoperable. We have been doing this round robin hand me down in our family since IMac DV special edition :-)

Dec 5, 2009hat I'm doing is a little crazy, but I'm doing it partly just for the fun of making it work. I'm trying to make my Intel so my PPC user can connect to my user via screen sharing and play an Intel based game online with me. I have the screen sharing working and everything, but apparently the LAN doesn't work because we have the same IP.
So, my question is: Is there a way to make my other user have a different IP than my main user? I'm thinking maybe some mac address emulator may work, but I thought I'd see if anyone here knew an easier way before I got too complicated.
OS X :: Install SL On Separate HD - Keep Old Home Folder - Doesn't Work
Sep 4, 2009I installed Snow Leopard on a separate HD I put into the lower OD-bay of my Mac Pro. I created a new account under SL with the same name as my old one under Leopard and migrated only my apps folder using Migration Assistant. Then, in the Accounta prefpane, I did a right-click on the newly created acocunt and pointed it to the "old" home folder on the Leopard drive. The problem is: Somehow Snow Leopard has no access to the folder! Any suggestions on what I missed out on? Right now I'm upgrading my old Leopard installation to Snow Leopard in order to make my "old" home folder a "Snow Leopard compatible" one. Don't know whether this makes sense. EDIT: Or is it because my new account surely has a different user ID and if so, what would be the solution? "chown" might break something, I guess.

Aug 27, 2014I've been trying to to export my Audio from FCPX 10.1.3 as Separate Files (per Roles) from a Multicam clip but it stops and freezes after exporting the first Audio track listed in the export setting. Example:
I have a Multicam clip with 3 Audio Roles (Bob, John and Marc, all assigned to their Audio Roles).When i export Audio as Roles (separate files), i then select all the Roles i want to export: Marc + John + Bob. It will export up to 35% or so and freeze.Then i look in the Finder location of the export to see the audio of Marc only.
If i put John + Marc + Bob, i will see the Audio for John only and so on.If (i have to at this point) i cancel the export, the audio file gets deleted and i get nothing out of FCP. Is there a way to export Audio as Separate Roles file from a Multicam clip or do i need to add all the Audio clip separately from the Multicam on the Timeline?
I'm adding the audio in the Multicam clip so that, if i want to remove a chunk of video from the timeline, The audio attached to it will also be removed and everything stays sync'ed after the cut i made.Â
I tried Detaching the Audio from the Main Timeline. I then get the Audio but still in a "multi cam" bundle. When i select that and look in the Inspector, i see all the Roles but i can't Export like i want to.Â

May 19, 2012I'm using automator to monitor a folder and, when changed, import the photos into Aperture. It works in that the script kicks in when pictures are added, but it stops at importing one file.Â
It's a simple workflow - I have it ask for confirmation then after I hit "OK" the import function starts. Problem is that it stops after it imports one file. What more information do you need to diagnose?Â

Feb 1, 2012I run Microsoft Office on my MacBook Pro. I routinely "print" Word documents to .pdf files. My conversions to .pdf are now resulting in two .pdf documents rather than one multipage document. For example, a two page Word document about puppies would be converted Puppies and Puppies.2 rather than just one 2-page .pdf file. A 14-page file just also saved as two separate .pdf files; the first was only one page, and the second contained the other 13 pages. This is a new problem as of tonight; I've never previously had any difficulty. It's quite frustrating, and I can't seem to determine the cause.

Unfortunately, Mail pulled messages from all three accounts and dumped it into one inbox. Is there a way for me to separate it - so that I have one inbox for one account, another inbox for another account?
I want to keep the mailboxes separate because I use them for different things (work vs home vs general internet shopping, junk mail, etc.), and don't want to miss a work message while mass-deleting junk mail, for example.

Mac Pro :: 1 Big Partition Or Separate For OS / Data?
Jul 1, 2010I have a Mac Pro 1,1 (2007) with the Apple RAID Card and 3 500GB drives in RAID 5. This leaves a total of about 1TB space, which [for historical reasons] is split into two 500GB partitions - one with the OS and home directories, the other with project data. I just received an additional 500GB drive matching the 3 already present, which I intend to add to the array -- bringing the total space available to 1.5 TB. Since I need to backup and restore the filesystem to expand the array, this is the perfect opportunity to revisit my partitioning scheme.
The problem with the current scheme is that I often find myself in the situation where I am working on a project, and one partition is full, but the other has plenty of space - so I end up wasting a lot of time moving files from partition to partition to get things done. So no matter what, I know that I want to combine the home directories and project data on one large partition. The question is should I have:
1) A separate small partition for the OS and a large one for everything else?
2) One giant partition for everything?

May 14, 2012In importing my cd collection to itunes, I've noticed that sometimes it will separate a track or tracks into more than one copy of an album. Why is this and how can I make it stop? It's only happened a couple times but is still annoying. The other day it separated track 2 of a cd from the other tracks, so I had 2 copies of that disc in itunes. One with just track 2 and a second with all the other tracks. Today it separated each track of an entire cd, so I had 10 copies of the same disc, each with one song.

Have hundreds of emails not broken up is difficult to read/organize. Maybe a setting I am missing or another App I can download. Not what was intended. I must point out I'm an absolute new switcher from XP. Delighted with the Macbook Air but bewidered by the software. Really, I cannot believe it's not possible to have multiple email accounts.
