this phone only comes with p.c.software. I am going round in circles trying to get it connected to my mac. Sony say apple wont let sony give the software away with the phone! Can this be true?! Can someone point me in the right direction

I've got them paired okay, but when I try to send files from the phone to my Mac, it tries to connect, gets connected for like a couple of seconds and then fails again. I just got a sony ericsson m600i and have discovered that it doesn't sync with ical or anything mac. i have osx latest update on a mac book pro and can't seem to find anything that helps. Anyone know of a work around on this or the timimg of an isync update to cover this rather big gap?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a seriously annoying problem. I recently bought a Sony Ericsson w200i which arrived in the mail today. Cheerfully i connected it to my Powerbook using the included USB-cable which promtly brought up a 'you need to restart your computer'-screen in a few different languages. I can only remember having seen that screen once before in the 2 years i've had the Powerbook and then it was an exception but with the W200 it happens every damn time. Basically i'm just throwing this one out here because i can't find any info on this anywhere on the internet including these forums and Sony Ericssons support(i've mailed them but no response so far). I did find one thread where a poster says he simply connects it like i do but i don't know if he's got an intel or ppc.

This is my first post here at MacRumors.com and I'm quite happy to be here posting as it's a good sign for myself and Apple. I am a Windows user for 15 years and Apple really has come so far in recent years that it is maybe time for change.There are a few problems and I'd like if you have the time to give your opinion:In recent months and especially during the time of the latest MacBook Pro I was pretty impressed and tempted to buy a MBP 17" to upgrade my 2007 Sony 15" Core2Duo Vaio. View 7 Replies View RelatedMy wife has an iBook G3 500mhz with 320mb of ram. She is having trouble with the airport card that is installed in it. I have a 2.4ghz wireless access point in the upstairs of my house (next to my main machine) which is sending the signal to a 2.4ghz bridge in the downstairs. House is wood frame. She is having problems connecting to the wireless network. When she can actually connect, she has to be right next to a wireless router and even then it doesn't work sometimes to connect. Is the airport card going bad in this? Is it possible that the antenna has gone bad or has a kink in it or something?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI get great wireless connectivity under Mac OS X, since the wireless base is in the room right next to the MacBook Pro, but under Windows XP Home Edition with the Mac drivers installed, I never get above two bars, and connection drops every 20 minutes or so. Windows is completely updated, all boot camp drivers are updated, everything.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis was AT&T's recommendation after I complained about spotty wifi access to my g4 powerbook. I'm using a 2wire 2701HGB and am getting the worst connection via airport.
The wireless connection works fine on my HP dv2 -1010ea and the g4 works fine in other locations, (coffee shop, other houses with wifi, hotels, etc.) but not at home. I've tried all manner of WEP, WPA 2, and $password shenanigans, but it the airport signal is woefully unreliable.
My iMac, OS X ver 10.7.3 continually loses conectivity if I go awaya for 10-15 min. Each time I have to reconnect.

I have a PC laptop which also uses the wireless and has never had a problem.My Mac Pro loses access to the net every few minutes or so. I usually follow a sequence of "Turn AirPort Off" / "Turn Airport On" to cycle the connection, and this works but only for a temporary solution until it drops out a few minutes later.also link to pic here..[URL] It always shows full bars even though in the activity monitor it just flatlines or flutters near 0kB/sec. Like many others, my connection drops although the wireless signal icon remains full. I've noticed that as long as my system doesn't idle (ie - if I'm downloading something, or on a webpage which is always sending or recieving data) the wireless connection seems alright. But if I am on a webpage (for instance, this Apple website which is idle and not sending or recieving data) for a few minutes or am away from the computer for 5 minutes, the connectivity dies and I cant access the net. I then follow a sequence of "Turn AirPort Off" / "Turn Airport On" to cycle the connection, and this works but only for a temporary solution until it drops out a few minutes later. Also, can I ask that NO ONE suggest that I hook my computer up via the ethernet cable as there is no access points upstairs and I'm not going to pay a tonne of money to get one installed when I paid a tonne of money for my "AirPort Extreme" so I didnt have to (which was just over 2 years ago).
Its been a constant problem for the last 12 months and the short-fix of "Turn AirPort Off" / "Turn Airport On" to cycle the connection has driven me to madness (especially when I write a lot of information into a site for example this, and after 15 minutes I click the next button or send and dont realise the net is no longer connected and I LOOSE EVERYTHING I'VE JUST TYPED. It's happened 1000's of times.

I am starting a new thread. I was having connectivity to the internet issues earlier. I have an IPAD an IMAC and a PC. I had to unplug my router to move it. Now it seems that I can only get internet access on one device. Earlier in the day my PC internet worked and the IPAD and IMAC did not. After shutting down my PC the IMAC began to work. Is there a setting somewhere for multiple devices?

I have a MacBook Pro 4,1 (early 2008, pre-unibody model) which has an ExpressCard slot.recommend a USB 3 to ExpressCard adapter for it, ideally one that I can source in the UK? I have looked at several via internet searches though one of the key issues seems to be having a driver that works with 10.6.8. The aim is to connect a Sony XQD card reader to the MacBook Pro via USB 3/ExpressCard to take advantage of the USB 3 speed. Sony's own XQD ExpressCard adapter does not work with OS 10.6.8 (I've emailed Sony requesting 10.6.8 driver support.)

My macbook pro is connected to the internet via WiFi router, and it very often it happens that my macbook loses connectivity with it. WiFi logo shows the same signal strength, but all browsers (Safari & Chrome) can't load webpages.
This issue can be solved by turning WiFi on and off, but it happens again and again. It looks like connectivity loses when Macbook goes in sleep mode and get's back from it, but sometimes connectivity issues happen even without sleep mode switching. I found in the internet that this issue can be solved by turning off Bluetooth.
I have an older Netgear router in my apt and am having trouble getting consistent internet signal. I can't even do Netflix I get error Here is my setup, any ideas?

I have a card reader, but i left it at school for the break and i was trying to get file transfers to work over bluetooth.after poking around in the phone settings and getting the phone to be recognized by the computer, i got it connected fairly easily, but my problem is this: firstly, in the bluetooth menu, it says the phone is "not connected" and i can't find a way to make it stay connected. Second, when i try to browse my phone via bluetooth, i get an error that says that my phone doesn't have the necessary services.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been having some very odd internal network connectivity issues the last few weeks.First, here's what I'm working with:-1.83 GHz Core 2 Duo Mac Mini running Snow Leopard 10.6.2File server running Windows Server 2008 64bit-Two SMB shares I access from the file server for archive storage and backup purposes from the Mini-All networked together into a Linksys WRT54G running DD-WRT v24-sp1
So here's the deal. I can start up the Mini from a fresh boot and access my SMB file shares with no problems at all. The file server is pingable, and I can RDP into it with Remote Desktop. But put the computer to sleep? One third of it breaks--the SMB shares become inaccessible until after a reboot, BUT I can still ping the file server AND I can still RDP into it without any issues. It's for this reason I think it's a Finder-specific issues. It seems to "forget" my SMB shares after putting the computer to sleep, then can't "find" them again.
FWIW, I thought it might be a name resolution issues, so I tried all this using the straight-up IP address but nothing changed. The SMB shares aren't accessible, but I can still ping and RDP into the file server without issue.It's getting very frustrating rebooting my Mac virtually every time I need to access my file archive. It's also makes a consistent backup plan difficult, if not impossible. Oh, and one more data point. I've got a work laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate. When the Mac has issues accessing the SMB shares, I can access the file shares just fine (both by hostname and IP address) on the Windows 7 machine.I'm quite at a loss here. I'm contemplating a fresh install here, but not really confident it would make a difference.

My job requires me to be mobile, and I move from one office to the next frequently, to attend to various meetings etc. Every time I move from one office to the next, I have to turn WiFi OFF, and then back ON again, in order for it to re-establish connectivity. This is a major frustration, as quite often I am downloading or uploading work applications, and have to re-start the download / upload again from scratch. It's impractical to not move until these are complete.

I must admit that this posting is a last resort. However, remarkably, on narrowing the problem it seems it has to do with an unknown default setting on my Mac OS X Leopard on both my MacBook and iMac.
This week I invested in two new Wireless-N routers - Belkin and D-Link - and both fail to perform. The problem manifests itself as follows:
- When my Apple is wirelessly connected to the router, it takes a very long time to pull up any website. And unless I am imagining things, it seems to first pause when the blue progress indicator reaches just beyond "[URL]" each time. It is slow loading beyond this initial pause as well.
- When I change my security from WPA2 to WEP to None, it makes no difference whatsoever.
- When my Apple is connected to the router via ethernet, it performs very well. Each website appears very quickly and as expected i.e. no wireless connection.
- Very surprisingly, when I am using Windows via Boot Camp on my iMac, it performs very well when *wirelessly* connected. This threw me a little. This is what led me to suspect there's a default configuration with my Mac OS X that is causing the problem.
- In light of the above point, I have not yet checked to see whether wireless frequency or channel affect the download speed.
- For 2.5 years I had been using a Netgear Wireless-G router without any problem.
Might anyone know what the problem is? Or at the very least how better to diagnose it?
A month ago, I started to get kicked off my wireless network seemingly random. I have eight devices on the network, but only my MacBook Pro was affected. I use an Airport Extreme base station - the UFO-looking one from about 2006. This wasn't regular "can't find the network", greyed-out Airport icon kicked off - the icon became an outline and no matter what I tried, only a restart would get me back on (often to be kicked off again within minutes). Again, I have six devices on the network - my wife is in the same room, feet away, and her 2003 iBook stays on the network with no troubles. A week after I started having this problem, I noticed my battery was no longer holding a charge. I just bought a new one. My question: I didn't initially think there might be a connection between the two issues - dying battery and Airport connectivity - but now that I've had the new battery working for a day, I haven't been kicked off the network. Could the bad battery have caused the Airport to totally disconnect?
