OS X :: Font In Firefox & Safari - Rogue Font Has Hijacked My Web Fonts?
Aug 1, 2009I just got some internet going again after having moved. I've had my new Octopus for a few weeks tho. So much to my surprise, I open up my gmail account and it's practically unintelligible. Some weird cartoon like font is my default font. As far as I can tell, all the default fonts are activated and all the settings point to the activated fonts, but this is driving me absolutely F__KING bonkers. Has anyone ever had this problem? Now to be fair, I did install some fonts from a semi questionable font disk a week or two ago, so maybe some rogue font has hijacked my web fonts.

Feb 18, 2009I know. I know. It's been done to death.
But it's such a shame that fonts are SUCH a pain in OSX (auto activation, system fonts, conflicts, etc etc)... and then Leopard's "updated" FontBook was no bueno.
So sad.
Since then I've been TRYING DESPERATELY to love FEX, and now Fusion2 (which is a tad better, i think?).
So the question begs:
Will SnowLeopard do anything to help with the OSX font madness?
Software :: Using Mac OS X Snow Leopard Font?
Jun 30, 2010I have just made a software update and am running Mac OS X version 10.6.4.
After my update, the font in many programs like Safari and the PDFs in Preview has changed to a weird font that 1) is useless and hard to read and 2) does not support danish letters. The result is that danish letters are either disappearing or using the normal font.
This was never a problem before updating, so obviously I am rather frustrated. I have gone into the various preferences in both Safari and OS X and sought to change the font. I have also tried TinkerTool, but nothing seems to work.
Have you had any experiences with this?

Sep 7, 2009Following someone's directions a bit to slavishly, I managed to delete one of my favorite fonts from both Library/fonts and ~/Library/fonts: verdana regular. I don't know anything about fonts (isn't that how I managed to delete my favorite?). Will anyone tell me how to reinstall this font? Is it possible to retrieve it from the Snow Leopard disk?

OS X :: Snow Leopard 10.6.3 Login Screen Cannot Be Changed
Apr 30, 2010I wanted to change my wallpaper for the login screen. I already changed the wallpaper in System/Library/CoreServices/DefaultDesktop.jpg. But when I check back at my login screen, it is still the purple aurora background.
I tried repairing it using onyx through file permissions and also snow leopard disk utility repair disk. But my wallpaper still doesn't change.
I tried using Loginox last time when I just got my snow leopard, when I tried changing the wallpaper, it crashed on me and this problem arised.
OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Admin Permissions Have Changed
Apr 15, 2012When I upgraded to Snow Leopard, somehow my permissions have become affected and now when I log in as administrator, I am blocked from accessing folders that the administrator should be able to access. I think that my Administrator account details got deleted or changed to 'unknown' during the upgrade when I had to wipe my whole computer to load the new software. I now get the message: 'The folder “CrashReporter” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents.' I can then go into 'Get Info' to change the permissions by adding my admin account (which is not there for some reason) and specifying 'read and write' and then it works fine. However, I have to do this individually for each and every folder and subfolder to make the files work properly. Is there a way of having the computer change all the access permissions to accept my admin name and password again? (So I don't have to change the permissions one at a time on each folder?)Â

Here is my question: after a clean install of Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro 13" (9CC2 panel), it seems that Snow Leopard definitely change the brightness range on the MacBook Pro 13" ! The range was much "wider" with Leopard, and allow me to set brightness to a dimmer level. Now, the brightness is on the bright side, and can't be set really dim (not as far as before...). And that's not great for my battery life! Any other experience with MacBook Pro 13" brightness settings?

May 5, 2012I didn't know where to post this question. When I import photos from my Canon T3i and my iPhone4, the creation date of the photo is the date imported, not the date I took the photo. While in Finder, if I look at the photo information, the creation date is the date the photo was imported (for both the Canon and iPhone photos). I'm trying to understand why this is happening. When I import the photos into iPhoto, the date I took the photo is there. While that seems like the solution, it isn't since I don't import all photos into iPhoto. If I look at the photos on the memory card, the date is correct. The only time the creation date is not correct is when I import on to my iMac or MacBook. I'm using Snow Leopard and have no plans to upgrade to Lion.Â

Jun 30, 2012I've been having a problem with Firefox crashing recently. On Mozilla's forum, someone suggested that corrupted fonts can cause apps to crash. I opened Font Book to check on this. I was able to find and disable one font that Font Book listed as corrupted. However, there's another font that I think is corrupted but can't do anything about. Just clicking on the font in the Font Book window causes Font Book itself to crash! Is there any other way to disable this font (matura management capitals)? Can I just delete it from the Font folder in finder?

Aug 28, 2009I was upgrading from Tiger to Snow Leopard (I asked a worker in the Apple store and he assured me it was okay to do so) and about 15 minutes into the installation I got a message saying "Unable to install. Please retry". Then when I retried it says "The contents of this disk can't be changed. Mac OS X couldn't be installed on this disk."

Mar 23, 2012I connect with my MacBook Pro via ethernet to the internet. So far, I've never had a problem until a couple of days, I keep on loosing the internet connect. When clicking through diagnostics, ISP, Internet and Server show first organge then turn red. If clicking through the diagnostics, sometimes I am lucky and it shows a message saying "Network configurations have chnaged", when I click ok, I'm online again. But very often nothing helps and I have to re-start the router again.

Aug 29, 2009Since I installed Snow Leopard I have an annoying bug when I have Growl and Firefox installed. When I start up Firefox, the windows isn't on focus (window is kind of in the background). On Leopard I started Firefox and immeditatly I could press cmd+L to write the homepages. With SL I need to click first into the Firefox window because it wasn't on focus after starting up. This weird behaviour only appears when I have Growl installed, if i deactivate Growl, Firefox starts on focus, but since I need Firefox AND Growl, this annoys me a lot..
Could anybody of you who also uses SL, Firefox and Growl test if the Firefox window is on focus after starting the app, ? I tried it on 3 different Macs and all of them have the same bug. :-( I already wrote to the Growl and the Firefox team, but until now both of them say it's the other apps fault...
