OS X :: Menu Font Sizes In Snow Leopard?

Sep 11, 2010

The menu (the top menu bar, "right click" menu etc) fonts are WAY too big. I downloaded TinkerTool and already lowered the size of all the fonts it let me, looked around the settings in the OS itself but I can't seem to touch the menu font sizes at all.

Here's a screenshot showing an example of google: [URL]

I'm on Mac OS 10.6.8

It's been driving me mad for a while now so I've been using Chrome instead, but I miss Safari!

Ok, so, thanks to Snow Leopard being unable to save paper size preferences, is there a way to go in and delete other sizes from the preferences? OS X :: Snow Leopard / Better FONT Handling ?

Feb 18, 2009

I know. I know. It's been done to death.

But it's such a shame that fonts are SUCH a pain in OSX (auto activation, system fonts, conflicts, etc etc)... and then Leopard's "updated" FontBook was no bueno.

So sad.

Since then I've been TRYING DESPERATELY to love FEX, and now Fusion2 (which is a tad better, i think?).

So the question begs:

Will SnowLeopard do anything to help with the OSX font madness?

Software :: Using Mac OS X Snow Leopard Font?

Jun 30, 2010

I have just made a software update and am running Mac OS X version 10.6.4.

After my update, the font in many programs like Safari and the PDFs in Preview has changed to a weird font that 1) is useless and hard to read and 2) does not support danish letters. The result is that danish letters are either disappearing or using the normal font.

This was never a problem before updating, so obviously I am rather frustrated. I have gone into the various preferences in both Safari and OS X and sought to change the font. I have also tried TinkerTool, but nothing seems to work.

Have you had any experiences with this?

As I can't upload images to this service, I am not able to show you how it looks, so if you send me an email, I will be able to reply with a screenshot.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Corrupted Font Causing Fontbook To Crash

Jun 30, 2012

I've been having a problem with Firefox crashing recently. On Mozilla's forum, someone suggested that corrupted fonts can cause apps to crash. I opened Font Book to check on this. I was able to find and disable one font that Font Book listed as corrupted. However, there's another font that I think is corrupted but can't do anything about. Just clicking on the font in the Font Book window causes Font Book itself to crash! Is there any other way to disable this font (matura management capitals)? Can I just delete it from the Font folder in finder?

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Services Missing From Right Click Menu?

May 24, 2012

I was trying to install some services that I created using applescripts and ThisService. The problem I'm having is that Services is not available in the menu when I right click on a folder or file. Looking under Keyboard in the system preferences, I can see all of the different services that are availible. I have the ones I'd like to use checked but no services appear in the menu when I right click. I've tried resetting defaults in the preferences, logging in and out, restarting and nothing helps. I found another post that said open terminal and run this /System/Library/CoreServices/pbs. When I enter that in the terminal, I get this message "No languages specified - assuming English" and nothing changes. I'm running 10.6.8 and I know that Services used to be avalible in the menu.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: How Does Services Menu Work And How To Clean It Up

May 28, 2012

You know how context menus on the mac are sometimes slow? I've figured out this has to do with the services menu.. located under keyboard -->services in the left-hand sidebar. My question is how do apps put services in that menu.. and how do I remove rather than disable a specific menu item?

I guess my broader question is how do I completely uninstall applications when I no longer have the original app bundle? I'm just concerned about clutter acclumating over time.

Software :: Snow Leopard Crashing - Menu Wouldn't Open

Jan 4, 2010

I have the same problem in this thread on the Apple support website: [URL] The only solution suggested was to reinstall the os. "I'd be using firefox with no problems. I'd go to load a page, and firefox would get stuck trying to resolve a host name (implying DNS wasn't working, at best). I'd click on the airport menu item, but the menu wouldn't open. I'd move the mouse cursor off the menu bar. When I move the mouse cursor back over the menu bar, I'd see the beachball. Ill finder windows get the beachball. Killing the finder did nothing; wouldn't fully die or restart. I'd have to hard-reset the machine to recover."
