I have a problem with Mozilla Firefox 3.04. Whenever I create a new bookmark, by any method, it replaces the address value with the an address that I visited in the recent past. And this address can change as time goes on, so the address value for the bookmark seems to be dynamic.

I was checking out various proxy servers with Firefox, trying to find a fast, reliable server. After testing one, my homepage [URL] came up as an "Apache Tomcat" page. This keeps happening even if I type [URL], it redirects to [URL], which displays the Apache Tomcat page. It says I have successfully set it up, despite never having even heard of it before. I have used the Terminal to check for recently modified files, and have looked through Firefox's preferences. Little Snitch reports no network connections by Firefox as it loads [URL] and displays the Tomcat page. I can still do google searches from the search bar in Firefox.
Below is a transcript from part of the page. I think that there's a UNIX file on my drive that has been modified somehow, but I haven't found it. If you're seeing this page via a web browser, it means you've setup Tomcat successfully. Congratulations! As you may have guessed by now, this is the default Tomcat home page. I just hooked up my gmail account to Apple Mail. And I was wondering how I can change the persons email address to show like in gmail's website. Right now some emails are showing up soandso@email.com<soandso@email.com> or just soandso@email.com

Can Safari be configured to display bookmark icons in the bookmark bar? I love having that feature in Firefox. View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a bookmarked a reputable company for easy access.Log-in icon, easy and secure, no problems.Weeks ago, I entered a wrong password, and a page stating "error" appeared. log-in was successful when reset and again, secure, and safe.
Now this page is still appearing any time I press the log-in button to access the secure logging in page, when I go to bookmark. OK, I removed the whole bookmark from safari, accessed the general web site of the company, and whenever I try to access the log-in page, (not even bookmarked!) I immediately get the same error page!, again and again, without even entering any data or user name or attempted password. This "error" page must have been stored somewhere on my MBA.How can I remove this and start a fresh bookmark?
has any one else had a problem using the app store for updates? It recognizes my new e-mail address everywhere except for in the update portion of the program. Because of this issue, I can't update my apps easily.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'd switched to Firefox a year or two ago from Safari after some frustration with Safari's bugs...but since I'd updated to Firefox 3.0.7 it has become ridiculously slow. Here's a typical scenario: Opening Firefox is no problem. Google page appears in a jiffy. But as soon as I clear the address bar and attempt to type in a URL, the beachball comes and Firefox literally freezes for a few minutes, even making it hard for me to switch to any other app that's open. I attempt to type in a complete URL regardless, and it takes Firefox forever to receive the input. The only way I can describe it is like the computer was typing in super-slow motion.
On top of that, I can hear this intermittent "grind/whir" sound of the processor while it lags, I suppose struggling to process the input. BTW, if I clicked on any of the bookmarked pages in the bar beneath the addy bar, it goes directly to them w/o problem. It's only when I attempt to type anything in the address bar that the lag occurs. This has become a total frustration of mine, especially now that I'm doing web design and need Firefox's Firebug add-on to identify CSS elements on the fly in the midst of tight deadlines. In the meantime, Safari works, but it doesn't have that feature.
in firefox, if you type two words in the URL bar, it will pickup the site. For example, my firefox will list every url i've been to in order of popularity if type mac - (it will show macrumours, apple, 9to5mac, etc)
if i type mac on safari it will list all url's beginning with the word mac.
How do i get safari to behave like firefox? You can see the benefits of firefox as getting to a url you don't quite remember is easy.
Through the years I've clicked this, over and over: "If you prefer not to receive commercial email from Apple, or if you've changed your email address, please click here." I'm trying to detect a pattern. I suspect that every time our family buys a new apple product we are hit with advertisements. I recently bought a new iPod Touch. I wonder if this is why the offer from apple to leave me alone fails, over and over.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't like Firefox 11 one bit and am yearning for 3.6. I read online to drag firefox 11 to trash and that, of course did nothing to actually uninstall. I then dowloaded 3.6 and 'installed' that, restarted but still firefox 11 lives on in my computer.

When using geekbench, will you get an accurate score from the 32-bit system, or would you need to use a 64-bit system in order to see what your true score is? I only ask because I don't mind spending $20... but I'd rather spend that one something that I will use more than one time.
Currently my 2008 2.8 oct core mac pro with 16 gb's of ram is getting me an average of about 9250.
Quitting Safari after adding a new bookmark results in losing the bookmark when I reopen Safari. Quitting Safari after deleting a bookmark results in the deleted bookmark reappearing when I reopen Safari. Any suggestions for fixing this problem. This problem does not occur if I close but do not quit Safari.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was in the organize bookmark place when i made the folder and i started dragging some bookmarks into the S folder, one at a time since it would not let me do more. Then, just as things were going according to plan, i had some bookmarks I could not drag into the folder no matter how many different ways i tried. and then to my surprise, this folder named "S" was not on the bookmark menu, even though that's where i created it to be. the folder still shows up when i go to organize but I want it to show up where all my other bookmarks are. I also want to be able to put those other links in the folder.
I had a bunch of webpages of macbook and ios5 tips saved in my 'popular' folder but i decided to move all those to a new folder just for them. dragged the last bookmark into the folder and somehow accidentally deleted the whole folder. is there anywhere to find this folder, it's not in the trash.

Restarted. Nothing seems to get it back. An ideas as to what happened, or how I can fix it?
