View 10 RepliesI have installed medialink but when I come to start it it comes up with the following error:
MediaLink could not start because port 1900 or 9386 is in use. quit any application that may be using these ports, wait a few minutes and try again.
there is no uninstall option and i don't want the icon there if i'm not going to use it.

it says server problems etc... but i tried a lot times and it just does not work...
I bought Medialink from Nullriver today but I still haven't gotten a license key! It's been a few hours and while I first thought it might just be slow, a quick twitter search reveals that many other people are having the same issue. My credit card was charged, but nothing from Nullriver. And of course, I sent them a few emails.

I tried the same headphones on the eMac sitting next to it, and it worked just fine. Still confused about the iMac
My email messages for one Google account no longer show up in my OS X Mail client.Case info:This may have occurred after I enabled the 'All Mail' to Apple Mail for the account, then removed it once I saw it was adding every single message I deleted since the beginning of time. Still, that doesn't explain the following...My email messages for another Google account does show up in my OS X Mail client. They have exactly the same IMAP settings other than username and password. My email messages for the account that doesn't work, shows up fine on my iPhone/iOS and gmail.com.None of the messages in the inbox or folders/labels show up. The count is zero. However they all show up fine in folders in iOS and on gmail.com.There is an indicator for one new message in the inbox, but none show.

So I have the stock 2X1 and 4X2 aftermarket. None of the sticks that I put in the second riser will show up. I tried the 2's in A1, A2, B1, B2 then the 1's in A3, A4. I then tried the 4 2's in riser A and the 1's in riser B. It didn't seem to matter, all that would show up is what was in Riser A. Could it be a bad riser or something?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am just wondering why everytime I right click a file then click "Open with.." some Windows programs come up?
I just recently formatted the entire system and haven't even got "VMware" or either Windows installed so I don't know why it's there.
I am not sure why if I go to type in kbos sey parch ccc rober kjfk won't show the blue line. However, it works on firefox. Here are the pictures of the two. The first is on Safari (not working) the second is of Firefox (working). By the way, I zoomed out a lot so you could see how Firefox shows the blue line for the whole route and this happens for other things as well .

I have a macbook pro mid 2009 running Lion (upgraded twice). Right now, there are two sticks of 4gb RAM in the computer, however, if I go to about this mac, system profiler, or activity moniter, they all show that I have only 4gb, while I should have 8 (photoshop is running slower than it should, so obviously one stick is not being used.) Â
After testing a few times, I have found:
The not functioning slot is the bottom slot, If I try to start up my computer with a stick of RAM in there only, my macs screen stays dark and beeps periodically along with the "sleep" light flashing. However, if I just use the top slot, my computer works fine.Â
I know its not the RAM sticks themselves because i've also tested with 1 and 2 gb ram, so I suspect my ram slot is broken somehow. It looks fine, the ram goes in and everything, but obviously something's wrong. Â
I ran hardware test and it said everything was fine, but still only showed 4 gb total ram and told me theres nothing in the other slot.Â
So is my RAM slot just disconnected or something/broken?

I'm having a problem with Software Update showing the 10.5.3 update 'ready to install' after I've already installed it. I even went to the extra measure of replacing it with the full combo installer to make sure.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to have a kind of dropdown list of the devices (hard drives, dvd drives, usb drives) from an icon in the menubar? It would be very convenient.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've restarted my Powerbook G4, but it's still doing the same thing: it's not displaying part of the top menubar (regardless of whether I'm on Firefox or the Finder or whatever app) so I can't see the time, battery/charge status, wireless, etc. I can see everything on the left half just fine (the part where it's specific for each app: File, Edit, View, History, etc). But the right half is blank, *except* for the blue circle icon with a white magnifier icon inside -- that thing is flashing...
Another thing is that I can't open excel files. Weirdly, I can open MS Word just fine. It tells me "not enough memory", but these excel files are pretty small. The thing is, I had Office 2004, and a couple of months ago I installed Office 2008. Yesterday morning, I got an "Office 2004 for Mac 11.5.5 Update" and I just clicked "Update" like I usually do... but I was running late and had to take my laptop with me so I canceled it when it was like 80% done. Could that be causing problems?
BUT I remember the night before, I had the DVD player on, set a timer to *shut down* in 20 minutes, and I remember the morning after (the morning of this Update), I saw that my laptop was (still) ON, and it had a pop-up window to say that some stuff on my computer may run erraneously because my date on the laptop was set for before 1965 or something. So then I had to go fix the clock on my laptop which was set to like 1960 January or something.
PS - there are additional weirdness going on, like when I change the volume using the keys on the keyboard, the transparent little box that's supposed to show up on the screen with the corresponding number of bars --- that's now showing up as just a big block of white box... And on things like Finder Windows, the top portion of the window where I should be seeing a back-arrow button and stuff, they are not showing up...
I have a wd 400 gig drive that use to have windows 7 on it in my mac pro 3,1 late 2008 model. I deleted and reformatted the drive, not it wont show up at all. What can I do to have it show back up? Disk utility shows nothing and I have taken it out numerous times and restarted and everything?

I have my iTunes music etc. stored on my MBP, but movies are on an external HDD connected via Airport disk. When importing movies, I untick "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library" and drag and drop them in - that way the location points to my external drive. However, I imported a number of movies yesterday (in the same way I always have done) and whenever I open iTunes, the artwork of the newest movies is missing and an exclamation mark is next to them. But when I click on it, the exclamation mark goes, the artwork reappears and the movie plays. Quit and reopen iTunes and it's vanished again.

I'm using OS X 10.4.5
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
I have two MBPs.
Both used to sync some apps nicely, using Bonjour to see each other.
Nothing has been changed in settings or home network that I can recall, and yet one machine now no longer shows up under Shared, hence I can't sync the machine.
I've disabled the firewall on the machine in question.
I checked also that Bonjour was running using:
sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist
I also ran Bonjour Browser on both machines and neither reports seeing the "bad" machine.
Any ideas why one machine no longer shows up under Bonjour?
Why are tags now showing up as they were before I re-tagged them in Itunes when I open them in other players e.g. VLC ?I'm sure it wasn't like this before? Is this happening to anyone else? Is there a fix or an explanation as to why?I spend ages getting the tags just how I want them which is great for itunes but when I open them in other softare the old tags (how they were before I used itunes to re-tag them) show up instead of the new ones I wanted.
