How do I change the color on my desktop? I have Snow Leopard, latest version.I had messed things up and somehow accidentally changed the color of the desktop to a light blue, from the darker background I had previously.Someone at Apple said to right click my mouse on the desktop and it would give me options to change the color. But nothing happens at all when I right click the mouse on the desktop. I get no options, and no menu. Same with left clicking the mouse on the desktop.

it prompts me for a password and then i put it in then i restart my mac and... it doesnt change, its still this like off gray color.
Hello everyone. No I AM NOT looking to mod the apple logo in my menu bar. My question is this: Why does my apple logo change color from time to time? I have seen it Red/Orange, blue, white/grey, and traditional black. Why is it doing this? I have never seen it before. No I haven't changed backgrounds/themes. It isn't all the time, infact I am not sure if it is related to any specific user intervention. I am just curious as to why it may be doing this. I've googled and only founds ways to hack it. NO I am not on hallucinogens. I thought it was related to the Apple Software update, indicating I had new updates, but this was disproven today when it was Red and I checked for updates.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure why, but there seems to be a void of information regarding changing the menu bar color in Leopard. I've searched here, but seem to find only a single recommendation: MenuShade (which I understand is buggy with Leopard). Most of the other discussion involves changing the transparency of the menu bar, or changing the color of icons in the menu bar.
Two questions:
1) Is there some reason this isn't more commonly discussed? I would think this would be a very common request.
2) How can one change the color of the menu bar?
I am using an HP Color Laserjet 3505n. Will snow leopard work with this printer?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIt seems since I switched to Snow Leopard some applications can't print B/W anymore. These are apps like InDesign. Apps that use Color Management. I have played around with the settings but I haven't yet found a way to just print solid black text on my Brother laser printer. Everything comes out dithered.
Example:
I create a music sheet in Finale. Prints fine. Black Characters. Make eps, pdf or tiff files, import into InDesign for a book and InDesign will print the black fonts dithered. It does that to everything, imported or not.
If I print the PDFs that were created by Finale (which doesn't use color management) they print fine.
This dithering also happens when I turn color management off in InDesign. Consequently, when InDesign makes pdf files the solid black comes out as somewhat off black.
I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and now my printer won't print color...everything comes out grayscale. What gives?

The new calibrated display profile could not be created or set to be the current profile for this display."also, i noticed they spelled "occured" wrong. I bought my first uMbp the day Snow Leopard came out. Unfortunately, it was not installed on the uMbp. So upon running the mbp for the first time, I proceeded to install SL.
Now occasionally, maybe a once every other day, whenever I open up a few applications like Word or maybe even a new tab in Firefox, everything would freeze and the spinning color wheel would spin for about 30 or so seconds and everything would resume to normal.
Now I ask, is this normal behavior? I have the 2.26ghz uMBP edition with 2gb of ram.
Should I go ahead and do a clean re-install?
How do I maximize or raise the color resolution used by macbook pro?

I have a Kodak ESP 3200 ink jet printer that normally does an acceptable job with non-critical illustrations etc..However, when I print photos, I would like to have appear more closely to the colors of the photos when they are displayed on my iMac when photo paper is used.How can I caliabrate either or both my printer and iMac so that the colors of the printed photos more closely match what is shown on the iMac?

I tried image capture combined with newly downloaded snowleopard drivers for my epson perfection 4490 scanner. Does image capture or other app built into snowleopard have color profile choices? I did not see any color profile options in the details view of image capture. All I see are millions or billions of color for the color options.
I use AdobeRGB & sRGB color profiles for my scans.
The menu (the top menu bar, "right click" menu etc) fonts are WAY too big. I downloaded TinkerTool and already lowered the size of all the fonts it let me, looked around the settings in the OS itself but I can't seem to touch the menu font sizes at all.

So I found an Automator script that let me compress in the Rar format. I created the correct folders (~/Library/Workflows/Applications/Finder/) and went to see if I could compress just some folders but I have no "More.." contextual menu entry. In Leopard I had it. How am I supposed to use Automator workflows now? Am I alone in not having this entry? I have the 10.6.1 update installed.

I was trying to install some services that I created using applescripts and ThisService. The problem I'm having is that Services is not available in the menu when I right click on a folder or file. Looking under Keyboard in the system preferences, I can see all of the different services that are availible. I have the ones I'd like to use checked but no services appear in the menu when I right click. I've tried resetting defaults in the preferences, logging in and out, restarting and nothing helps. I found another post that said open terminal and run this /System/Library/CoreServices/pbs. When I enter that in the terminal, I get this message "No languages specified - assuming English" and nothing changes. I'm running 10.6.8 and I know that Services used to be avalible in the menu.

My question is how do apps put services in that menu.. and how do I remove rather than disable a specific menu item?Â

I'd go to load a page, and firefox would get stuck trying to resolve a host name (implying DNS wasn't working, at best). I'd click on the airport menu item, but the menu wouldn't open. I'd move the mouse cursor off the menu bar. When I move the mouse cursor back over the menu bar, I'd see the beachball. Ill finder windows get the beachball. Killing the finder did nothing; wouldn't fully die or restart. I'd have to hard-reset the machine to recover."
