I configured my MacBook Air to request a password after the screen turns on in "Security And Privacy". But then I realised that can change this option without unlocking the padlock. Here is a screen picture. I think is a very important security problem.Â

I went to the Genius bar and they told me to Control, Option, P, R on a reboot to restore the settings, but with a wireless KeyBoard it does not work. I installed my standard PC keyboard, but am not sure what keys renase the display back to factory settings.

So I have a DYNEX 21 inch HD TV conected up to my MBP via the VGA connection route. My problem is that when I want a program (or more specifically in this case a game) to go into fullscreen mode it automatically goes to my primary monitor and turns the other screen black. I know I can switch the primary monitor from my actual laptop screen to the TV however I just want the game to be full screen on the TV while still having access to my dock and everything on my laptop.

I keep getting the error message There was an error joining the Airport network "XXXXXX". My MacBook and all our other pc laptops connect with no problem. I don't have an Ethernet card working. The card went out and I would have had to replace the whole Motherboard, so we had an airport installed. It's worked great for 4 years now.

My 2011 MacBook Pro screen broke so it is now half a laptop and the battery was also removed. Whenever I plug it in, the light on the front starts flashing and then it turns on. Sometimes it shuts off before the chime plays. I was using it today for about 30 minutes, and then the power button menu appears in the screen (sleep/shutdown/restart options menu) and then a few seconds later it shuts off completely without me touching it. After that I started it back up, and when it got to the desktop, and then it turned off without no warning at all (the power options didn't even show up).
I already tried resetting the SMC and PRAM/NVRAM and it seems like that didn't work.

When I tried to log into iCloud I got a message that for security reasons I needed to reset may pass word. I have tried to do that 3 different times. Each time I get this email:The password for your Apple ID has been successfully reset.If you didn’t make this change or if you believe an unauthorized person has accessed your account, go to iforgot.apple.com to reset your password immediately. Then sign in to My Apple ID to review and update your security settings.
However, when I try to login to iCloud I keep getting the same message that the password has been disabled. I can not figure what is going on as I was able to login to this forum with the new password.

I don't have the Missing Manual for Mavericks yet. So I often look up topics in the MM for Lion. He mentions something on page 510 about "closing the backdoor" so hackers can't 'Ping" an idle or sleeping computer. The Security Preferences in Mavericks don't seem to address this. Has the new OS got built-in security for this. Wiping an HD clean, installing fresh OS and then restoring preferences from a TImeMachine backup.Â

Nothing happened, I tried everything. So I turned it off by holding down the power button and turned it back on. But then 10 mins later while using it, the screen just instantly turned off! The iMac was still running, it even had the music still playing in the background from iTunes, but again it was unresponsive to my commands. For the last week or so I've been having an increasingly regular problem with Mail. Upon launching, the app opens a dialog window saying, "Mail can't connect to the Google account 'Gmail'. Enter the password for user (username)." Then when I enter the password, the app crashes. Sometimes clicking the "Cancel" botton allows the app to open, but sometimes that results in a crash as well. Also, when I can launch Mail successfully, sometimes when I try to send mail, the outgoing mail will sit in the Outbox unsent. Â
I've been getting these warnings with both my Yahoo and Gmail accounts. Until a few days ago I was using Yahoo as my primary account, but the inability to send mail caused me to switch to Gmail as my primary. After a couple days of smooth sailing, I'm now getting the same errors with my Gmail.
At least, it seemingly randomly turns off. I can be surfing the web or whatever like normal, but then after a period of time the monitor goes black. I can see that the computer hasn't shut off, but it's as though the computer is on its lowest brightness setting. It can be temporarily fixed some times if I lower the brightness all the way via F1, then put it back up, but if it goes up more than 3 or 4 boxes it goes black again.
It also goes black if I were to move the monitor any time during this whole thing. I've heard things like an inverter cable and board, but I have no idea what's going to fix this. This is my only computer, I use it for all my school work, if it breaks permanently I'm screwed.
I just bought a refurbished macbook pro and at first the screen wouldn't turn on when I started it up, the little sleep light was on though. I pressed and held down a key for a few seconds right after pressing the power button and the screen worked. My question is, should I be worried about this? I got the computer from a company I later found out is really difficult to deal with so I don't want to have to return or exchange it, but I also want to get my moneys worth.
