Jun 3, 2014Running OS X (10.9.3) and Safari 7.0.4. Can't print pdf files from Safari and sometimes can't download them either (error says they are corrupted) but I can download from a windows laptop. I found something online about disabling a pdf plug-in, but it was for Lion, so not sure if it's still the correct fix. Also, how to uninstall a plug-in unless you provide exact locations of where the plug-ins are stored.

OS X Mavericks :: Can't Access Anything Else In Safari
Dec 1, 2014I wanted to go to Photobucket, but Safari took me to the above page. Then a pop up window told me to Click OK to continue. This was too suspicious so I did not click. Now I can't get away from this page. I can't access any anything else in Safari.
When I quit Safari, it still opens to that page. I tried virus check and nothing was noted. I can't just reinstall Safari. Apple says you have to reinstall the whole system. Not practical. (Still using Mavericks - do not yet trust Yosemite.)

Jun 23, 2014I'm using Safari Version 7.0.4 (9537.76.4) with Mavericks on MacBook Pro 13" late 2011. Has 4 GB RAM. The problem is Safari consume 787 MB of ram with ONLY 1 tab open! "Facebook"..When I clean my ram with memory cleaner, it goes down to 300 MB, 5 secs or less and it goes up again.

OS X Mavericks :: Safari Broken In One Account
Jun 19, 2014After installing the Safari update 7.0.4, Safari stopped working in my regular user account. It still works in my Admin account and in another regular user account. I reinstalled OSX Mavericks but that seems to have had no impact.
Instead of opening, the icon in the dock bounces for a long time, then it just stops. The menu bar never changes.
Another app -- Citrix Receiver -- also stopped working in this account, it opens but it cannot connect to the network; this app too does work in the other regular user account.

OS X Mavericks :: Safari Opens To Unknown Website?
Jun 21, 2014When I turn on the computer, Safari automatically opens to [URL].... I know nothing about this site. I have, previously, set my Safari/Preferences to open to a different site. That used to work.
WORSE ... sometimes when turning on the computer, the screen gets stuck on the big wave open background. Only the very top toolbar for Finder opens. But Desktop icons do not appear. And the mouse is inoperable. I have to manually turn off the computer, turn it back on ... and then, sometimes (not sure how consistent this is), it automatically opens to Safari on that Trusteer website (that I have never, to my knowledge, accessed).
I took this problem once before to this community. Was given instructions to do a Safe Boot, which I did. It was not supposed to fix the problem. But after I did it, the problem seemed to go away... for a while. It's back now.
I also did a Disk Utility Repair of the HD.
I have not clicked on anything in that Trusteer page because I don't trust it. It looks legitimate. Is it?
This problem, by, the way, only began after I upgraded to Mavericks. I don't recall how long it was before the problem started after upgrading. Probably a couple of weeks.

Aug 22, 2014So i had not used my laptop in about a week because of an issue with safari..When i get to https sites (totally random) have a box to enter something like a cc number or address as i start to type safari gives me the busy wheel for infinity...let it sit for hours one day, never stopped. had to force quit. relaunched, same thing on the same box. cleared history and cache, rebooted and tried again.happened on multiple websites on random boxes where i needed to enter some info, was always on a https site though.
Second issue, went to use my computer again, launched mail. none of my accounts are syncing. iCloud, exchange, gmail..all show most up to date from the last time i used it over a week ago. let it sit for hours, still no sync. got it to update by taking all accounts offline then back online. went to send a test message. hit the send button and mail locked up completely!!

Dec 7, 2014I was just on my computer tonight nd all of a sudden it restarted, upon rebooting it went to a safari-only mode with a webpage asking me to log into a wifi account and telling me to access Apple support.
- I cannot boot into safe mode, and any other mode I use just brings me to this same screen.
- Everytime I restart the computer it just brings me back to this screen and I can't log into my normal account.
- I also cannot access system preferences.
- If I close safari I just get a blank screen with nothing.
- Other solutions have suggested this is a 'theft' location procedure, if so, how do I 'deactivate' this? I have accessed my iCloud 'find my iphone' and there seems to be no way of disabling it.

Sep 6, 2014I got lured by adbait and clicked on a retailer site. Ever since, this retailer's annoying, flashing ads are popping on sidebars on a number of other web sites I routinely use (e.g., NY Times). Eerily, the exact two items I looked at are what are showing up -- presumably to lure me back!
I went into Safari preferences, cookies, details, and found the retailer and deleted. Yet, those ads still appear. Is there something else I need to do? (and yes, I've restarted since then, and gone back and checked, and that retailer does not appear in the list of cookies).
Is there some other malevolent thing they've managed to track on me, other than cookies??

Jun 23, 2014I have a 13" Retina MacBook Pro running Mavericks., Safari suddenly will open ONLY Google-related pages (e.g., gmail and google maps). All other websites I try result in the gray page that says, "Safari can't find the server."
when I turned on my MBP, the wireless connection would not connect to my home network. That was temporary--it eventually connected to the network, but then even though it was connected to the network, it could not access the internet connection. All of that then resolved itself (I reset modem and router) and those connections resumed functionality. But then I could not access any web pages, as per my comment above, EXCEPT for Google-related pages.
Steps I have already taken in attempt to resolve:booted in safe modecleared Safari cacheRemoved all website dataunder Proxies on Preferences -> Advanced tab, selected Auto Proxy Discoveryunchecked and re-checked the Fraudulent sites warning check box on Preferences -> Security tab
Does it have something to do with the Google Safe Browsing Service? Seems so odd that ONLY Google pages will load..
