View 6 RepliesHas Mavericks’ Mail program lost the ability to handle group email addresses? Since I switched to Mavericks, Mail does not handle Group Address emails correctly. Even though Mail Preferences are set so that individual email addresses in each group are not supposed to show, Mail does show the individual addresses rather than the Group address(s).
The only solution is to send out Group emails with my own address in the “To” line and all of the “Group” addresses placed in the “Bcc:” window of the email. Apparently the option to not have the addresses show when using group addresses in the "To:" line does not function in Mavericks.

I just upgraded to icloud yesterday. All my contacts synced okay, but when I enter a new contact in address book on my computer it doesn't show up in icloud online or on my iphone. When I enter them in my iphone address book, they do show up in icloud and on my mac.

I recently embarked on a quest to reorganize my font libraries and I think I messed something up! Capital A's with boxes around them show up in many of my emails (using Mail) instead of text, and the emails from my iPhone Notes don't load at all. I don't understand this because the MarkerFelt.ttc font is in the HardDrive-->Library-->Fonts folder.
Basically, I had organized my fonts within the HD-->Library-->Fonts and the Username-->Library-->Fonts folders with Font Agent Pro and moved them to a separate location so that I could manage them more directly. Everything was fine at first and then things started looking wacky in Mail. I moved everything back to its original font folders and it's still displaying incorrectly. I've attached screen shots of what I'm talking about so it makes more sense. I would really appreciate any advice on how to get things back to normal.
I have this problem where I get an email that has wonderful pictures (html, css, or somthing) on my iphone and ipad they display correctly. On Mail in OSX on my iMac they are just a bunch of text and hyperlinks. A good example of this is the promotional emails from Nik Software.

For the last week or so I've been having an increasingly regular problem with Mail. Upon launching, the app opens a dialog window saying, "Mail can't connect to the Google account 'Gmail'. Enter the password for user (username)." Then when I enter the password, the app crashes. Sometimes clicking the "Cancel" botton allows the app to open, but sometimes that results in a crash as well. Also, when I can launch Mail successfully, sometimes when I try to send mail, the outgoing mail will sit in the Outbox unsent.
I've been getting these warnings with both my Yahoo and Gmail accounts. Until a few days ago I was using Yahoo as my primary account, but the inability to send mail caused me to switch to Gmail as my primary. After a couple days of smooth sailing, I'm now getting the same errors with my Gmail.
I'm not a developer so I haven't had any experience with Leopard builds. Can anyone who had the privilege of trying it out tell me how computer units are handled? Specifically, I'm talking about definition of kilo/mega/... prefixes and 10^3 vs. 2^10 mixups that make harddrives / usb sticks / optical media appear smaller than they actually are, etc.
My guess would be everything is still the same, because fixing this would probably be mentioned somewhere and because we have been using units incorrectly for a while now (frankly most other operating systems haven't fixed this either, so I'm not expecting much), but still it's better to ask .
I delete a large batch of emails from my inbox, empty the trash, and the deleted emails reappear in the inbox. This happens repeatedly. How do I get rid of these emails permanently?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a mac desktop. Just recently, possible since an upgrade to mavericks, it loses its ability to use wifi its clearly recognises as connected. The temporary solution I have involves opening the network and running wifi diagnostics. It always comes back and says it is all fine but it fixes it. ie the act of running diagnostics resolves the problem.
Happens every 10 mins or so when using and is now becoming a sore point.
I am not even slightly technical. I turn on, I type, I turn off.
I keep getting a message that my disk has not been ejected correctly when I haven't done anything to my G Drive. This happens frequently. It is my back up drive connected to my iMac running OSX version 10.9.4

Items in my calendar have the correct information (in info) and show up correctly when looking at the Today calendar view. However, when looking at the monthly view, an item dated July 20, 2014 looks as though it is set to occur on July 30, 2014 (see below).
Enlarging the monthly calendar view does not work. Is there anything that will?

I'm running 10.9.4 on a Macbook Pro 2.9 Ghz Intel Core i7 with 8GB RAM. Finder has stopped drawing windows correctly. If I am in Finder and chose New Window in the Archive Meny, a new Window opens, but I don't see anything. Well, I can see something, I see the outlines of the window, the icons at the top and stuff in at the left of the window like favorites, drives, shared network drives, but the I don't see the actual files in the newly opened window.
The windows opens, but I only see what's behind the Finder window. For instance, If I open a new Finder window (like Documents) on top of Safari where I write this post, I'll not see documents but this text I'm writing. I've tried restarting the computer to no avail. I have tried resetting NVRAM/PRAM without success. Thinking if there perhaps is a plist file for this, but I don't know.

I recently restored my iMac from a time machine backup and it looks like Messages didn't install correctly. Basically, the app is blank, displaying no messages or options in the menu bar (see album: [URL]). Looking for a possible solution without installing a fresh OS.

Basically, after the fans rev up to 6200rpm, the rpm stays there and never comes down, even after the computer is sitting idle for awhile. I installed the smc update and am using coolbook to try to avoid core shutdowns. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm going to try replacing the thermal glue tomorrow, to see if that helps, but it seems somehow unrelated to me. I'm using smcfancontrol to monitor the rpm of fans.

It's annoying, I'm trying to keep it clean so that it's only for my iPhone, but it insists on importing every contact every time I respond to an email. So I end up with a bunch of duplicates and junk in my book. I'm using Firefox and Gmail, but it seems to do it from whatever email program I'm using the time..

I want to send a copy of attachments in 1 email to all 4 addresses at the same time, by typing in only the contact group. I know I can do this by creating 4 different contacts in that contact group, BUT can I set it up so I have only 1 contact in that group with the 4 email addresses listed in that 1 contact and have the attachments sent to all 4 emails without having to create 4 separate and distinct addresses. Does that make any sense??
I want to use these addresses to function as "flash drives" to save attachments.
When I get a window popping up with an option e.g. do you want to delete this file etc. One option is highlighted (blue in my case) and the other not. In Windows I would press tab in order to switch and highlight the other option and then ht enter to select it. What is the equivalent in OSX? It will be quicker than reaching for the mouse/trackpad sometimes.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI save all my contacts in Address Book in the First Name field (not using Last Name Field). When I use Mail to send emails, somehow last name of the sender/recipient gets added to that person's contact. So John Harris becomes John Harris Harris - super annoying!
Someone suggested to delete all from Recent Recipients in Mail - I did that, it helped but only in relation to those contacts who have been deleted from Recent Recipients - is there a way to disable Mail poaching surnames from my emails and inserting them into address book automatically?
Can't I just access the emails from the server instead of having them all saved into my library>>email folder?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a client with a very strange issue in Entourage 08. In the settings he has only ONE email account setup which is an Exchange account. Yet in Entourage he gets email delivered from the exchange server, as well as from an SBCGlobal account (Old Email account which is still active, but not used). The SBC account emails are delivered to 'Folders on My Computer'. I have no idea how these emails are being delivered when there are simply no settings for any account other than the Exchange within the Entourage settings.
Any ideas how these could be delivered without any settings in the 'Accounts' control panel?
Cannot receive my emails on computer but still coming through on ipad have not had any problems with e-mails previously. Also using icloud and tenda wireless router.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMail is not receiving new emails from either of my 2 email accounts (Media Temple and Gmail). The program sits idle while the messages come in on my phone and iPad. Restarting the program seems to wake it up, but I'm not content to do that each time I need to check my email. I have Mail on my MacBook Pro and have never had this particular problem, it's just on my brand new iMac.

Bought a new 13" Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display back in June, and ever since I set it up, I've been having issues with mail. Both issues relate to deleting messages, so I figure they're likely related.
First thing is, sometimes when I delete emails, close the program, they magically reappear in my inbox when I reopen mail.
The second thing is, if I close mail right after deleting an email, it gives an error message like 'The message “...” could not be moved to the mailbox “Trash — On My Mac”' and 'An error occurred while moving messages to mailbox “Trash — On My Mac”.
This never happened on my last Macbook Pro, which was the mid-2009 model, even though both laptops run Mavericks. I'm assuming that it's some setting that I'm not aware of causing this issue. I thought it was the fact that my iCloud account was set up to work with Mail, but I turned that off, and it's still doing this.
One of the funny things I've noticed, is that under Mail Activity, it will say "Incoming messages 12 of 48" or whatever number at the time, even when there are no new messages. It never did this on my last laptop.

How do I block unwanted emails.

I opened up mail today to find that my entire inbox has been totally wiped. This is quite inconvenient for many reasons, but I'm not sure how to fix it. I still have the emails in my outbox, sent and drafts folder, but there is nothing to be found in my inbox. It doesn't appear as if my emails are in the trash anywhere either.I'm with telus, for what it's worth,and I'm running 10.9.2.

I have a number of email accounts, most of them IMAP.
It seems recently (say the past month) its been very slow. The Activity windows shows the accounts seems to just not move. They do eventually process but it takes a long time. They will sit for a minute on stuff like:
"Opening mailbox"
"Getting unread counts"
"Checking status of mailbox"
It seems sometimes they are fast, but when an account gets "stuck" it just takes forwever........
Shutting Mail down (or trying to reboot) takes a long time because it always has to wait for these processes to try and finish.
Perhaps the bigger problem (maybe related maybe not) is that sometimes when I send an email, there is not record of that email. Its not placed in any Sent folder, its not uploaded to the IMAP account. However, they do seem to be actually sent. I *think* this may account while Mail is "stuck" trying to process an account, but I'm not sure....
I have tried Rebuilding all the IMAP folders (not all my offline folders). I have deleted the Envelope files to have Mail reindex.
