View 8 RepliesDoes this work for anyone since upgrading to Safari 4: Try to save any email document from Mail.app as formatted text to your Desktop. No file ever appears for me... Is this a general bug or a quirk with my system ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI set up my icloud account at work using Mail because I was tired of writing personal messages from my iPhone. Initially I opted to not save any messages locally, since I prefer keeping my personal correspondence in the cloud and on my private devices. Unfortunately if I choose that option, then no messages are displayed in the inbox or sent folders. I am accustomed to the IMAP way of things, where Mail displays the server contents when online and in offline mode, no messages are displayed because they aren't saved locally. Is this possible with iCloud?

I've got limited hard drive space. In gmail, I keep my inbox pared down to just a few emails I'm actively working on (ie 3-10 emails at a time). Everything else gets archived. However, when I try to set up Mac Mail for gmail (as described on 50 different websites), my computer starts downloading thousands of emails - my sent mail, anything I've tagged, etc. I don't want all this. I just want the few active emails (my inbox) at any one time.
I've tried mapping folders in Mail (ie Use this folder for....), but can't seem to pare it down to just the inbox.
Is there any way to save files to an external drive? We receive emails with attachments. When we save these files, the only options given are "desktop" and "our external drive". We need to save them to folders, preferably on our external drive. Even if we create a folder on the desktop, we can't figure out how to save the file in that folder directly. The desktop is a mess because it is littered with images.

I need to copy a set of email addresses and paste them into a spreadsheet for uploading. Using Mail's copy function I get the result "mailto: (address)". If I just copy that as an address Mail doesn't recognize it as a valid address. Is there a way around this?

Apple mail out of office rule is sending auto replies to all emails not just newly received emails--HELP! I set up the rule according to another apple support thread and instead of only sending the reply to new mail received, it was sent to all messages I believe that were in my INBOX, I only had a few but several people that hadn't sent me emails since I set up the rule, received the OUT OF OFFICE reply. Here is the procedure I followed for the out of office rule-[URL]I just used my email account which is a business account- not an ECU account but these rules according to the apple thread apply for all emails.

Just wondering if there is anyway to block internet access temporarily.(not on my computer, but I was wondering if I could to some wacky-code stuff and such to prevent access on another computer that is in my network) The reason why I am asking this is because I think there isn't enough bandwidth to go around my house (there are 2 xbox 360s hooked up to live, and 3 computers hooked up). But just wondering if this is possible to do because ever since my step sister came here for the summer, I have been getting dced non-stop.

I am attempting to use a computer-to-computer network from my MacBook to my iPod Touch 3G to use an application called TouchOSC which controls Ableton Live on my Mac.
I can Create Network just fine. It sets up the network inbetween my Mac and iPod perfectly. But once I disconnect from the created computer-to-computer network, that network disappears like it was never created. To use computer-to-computer again I have to re-create the network all over.
All of my other networks are stored just fine and I have no other problems with my house Wi-Fi or any others. I have reset my Network Preferences by deleting the SystemConfigurations files and still nothing doing about the computer-to-computer problem.
I am not sure if this is desired behavior, and if it is, is there any way I can save the network I created for later use? Setting it up every time is painful, I want to use it nearly everyday for music.

I use Mail with my Gmail account via IMAP. I like having everything synced, except the spam and trash folders. Is there a way (either on the Gmail end or mac end) to prevent some folders from syncing with IMAP?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm not very fond of using the integrated mail app in mavericks. However I love how I am able to compose a message simply by clicking someones email on a website. But my question is, how can I turn off incoming messages from being stored in my mailbox? I would like the app to function where there are no incoming messages or junk in the mail app. The version is a 7.3 and my mac is running on mavericks 10.9.3

My wife and I both use Yahoo! Mail. Neither of us uses the Mail app to manage our email. How do I prevent Mail from opening when we click an email address in Safari? Is it possible to direct Safari to open a separate web browser prompting us to log in to our Yahoo! Mail?

I've seen a similar request posted a couple times, but have had no luck on those threads finding the solution to my problem. I would like to write an AppleScript that would save an attachment (a .txt file) from Mail to my desktop. (Then in turn, I will make a rule in Mail that will run this script when certain conditions are met in the email). I'm sure it's probably very simple, but I have been playing around with the script editor for a few hours now and still can't figure it out. Needless to say, I am new to scripting.

ok, so I have a server that is hosting my email addresses, i have setup imap to use on all 3 of my devices.Â
My macbook pro, my ipad 2 and my iphone 4s. On my ipad, I go into the account to look for sent messages, and I have 3 sent message folders under the inbox,. sent. sent messages and sent with a paper airplane.Â
Now I am trying to get everything to sync together, so that when I write an email on any device, it is saved in the sent mail folder, and I can see it on any device I choose. Currently I am sending email on my ipad and it is not saving in the folders, any of them.Â
in the sent message folder, i am seeing messages sent from me from last friday, although i have sent messages already from this account.Â
in my second account though, the heirachy is different when i go into the account under the inbox i have 1 folder sent messages, then i have the sent messages with the paper airplane next to it.Â
when i go into the sent messages folder i see that a message that i wrote on my macbook pro this morning, is saved in this sent messages folder, as it other things i have sent through my mackbook pro in the sent messages with the paper airplane i have stuff only sent from friday and before. Â

With Mail in Lion, I could scroll to the bottom of an email and double click on the icon for the Word doc or pdf attachment to open it, then hit command P to print it. With Mavericks, it appears that I have to first "save" the document somewhere and then open it and print it. Is this correct? Â
In most cases, this is an extra step that is unnecessary.Â
Right now, the attachment displays (opened) within the email, but I don't want to print several pages of an email when all I want is to print the attached doc, for instance, an attached invoice. Also, I can't tell what kind of document it is without saving it, which I don't like. I've tried to find a way around this in preferences but no luck. Â
I guess what I'd really prefer is to go back to the old Lion version of Mail, or something that approximates it more closely. Do I need to just get over it and realize that I'm going to have to save every attachment if I want to print it or is there a workaround of some sort?
Messages sent from my Macbook Air are not being saved to my Sent box when working from home. I have researched this issue online and can't find a solution. Discussion seems to indicate the Macbook Air Mail problem is common and well known, but Apple has not acknowledged or provided a fix.Â
This problem is not insignificant as I cannot use my Macbook Air for work-related activity at home. While I have all my email accounts synced with iCloud, the Macbook Air messages sent from home also do not appear on any of my other devices. I don't experience this problem at home if I use my iPad, and sent messages appear in my iPad Mail Sent box and on my other devices. Due to functionality issues, this means that I have to use my Samsung laptop if I work from home. Not a great recommendation for the utility and convenience of the much more expensive Macbook Air .

How do I backup my emails on Mail and rest Mail?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I save a file out of Mail to a local folder, it's not showing anymore! I make a new folder, save files to it out of Mail, and when I view the folder contents in the finder, it's not showing any files!
It's the same whether I save the mail as Rich text or Plain text. If I save as raw email, it saves it, but when I do a search, it only finds the file in Mail and not in that folder?
OMG. Every word I type in Mail gets autosaved! I have dozens of drafts of the same message saved, one word at a time (or so it feels like).Â
How do I stop this craziness!? Cannot find the dropdown or setting anywhere.Â

I have a client with a very strange issue in Entourage 08. In the settings he has only ONE email account setup which is an Exchange account. Yet in Entourage he gets email delivered from the exchange server, as well as from an SBCGlobal account (Old Email account which is still active, but not used). The SBC account emails are delivered to 'Folders on My Computer'. I have no idea how these emails are being delivered when there are simply no settings for any account other than the Exchange within the Entourage settings.
Any ideas how these could be delivered without any settings in the 'Accounts' control panel?
Cannot receive my emails on computer but still coming through on ipad have not had any problems with e-mails previously. Also using icloud and tenda wireless router.
