For some reason my macbook suddenly speaks every action I do.
Furthermore, I am unable to use the function keys to adjust sound brightness etc.
I saw something around here a few days ago about it, what are the odds it would happen to me?
I accidentally pressed some buttons and I am not sure what I pressed, but now what ever I do, or click on, my mac says what I am doing, and it is annoying. how do i stop this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedEither I hit some sort of hot key or my computer is now possessed by a Speak and Spell. Everything I do is spoken by my computer. I tried going to the Speech section in the system pref's but that isn't helping. How do I turn this off?

I am playing with my new MBP and wanted to know if iCHAT supports talking to buddies from Yahoo Messenger too, just like it does for AIM? I got the AIM one to work, and it says something about something called Bonjour (?) but nothing about Yahoo? Please let me know how to set this up as possible, that way I won't need separate programs for AIM and Yahoo Messenger. PS- Does windows media player have a program for MACs? If not, whats the best program similar to Windows Media Player that I can use to view all the same video types as that?

Randomly the volume keys/brightness etc. stop working and i can't open apps or shut it down normally. Everything still works though (can still function in open applications) Anyone know what the problem is? It fixes when I force reset.

The performance through the VPN is badly affected by the Airport scanning regularly; often the VPN hangs.
I have deleted the unnecessary wireless networks listed in the Advanced button under Network Preferences. However, the problem persists.
Can you advise how to either stop the scanning or stop it interfering with Internet connection?

I wasn't so concerned about this until my wife started complaining about my MacBook being so noisy. The fan didn't used to be always running. I think it was after I upgraded to OS X 10.5 that the fan decided it would just always be running. I have my MacBook on all the time and usually the applications that are open are, Firefox(with 10 active TABs), iTunes, Azureus, VLC and Mail (and Widgets). It used to only come on if Azureus was real busy. Now the fan will start up soon after I boot up and will even keep running when I close all Apps and only have the Finder open. What can I do to regulate my fan? It doesn't seem to want to control itself. Also, my MacBook never feels overheated. I used to have an iBook and that thing got hot. MacBook with constantly running fan fees real cool in comparison so I don't think the fan needs to be constantly running.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI rely on a program called SoundOn! to stop the popping sound on my Macbook aluminium while using external speakers. But, I seem to have done something (slash OS X seems to have done something) which means that the application now opens in Script Editor rather than a standalone application. When I go to the Get Info window in Finder to change the default application I cannot simply set it as an application and get a choice between TextEdit, Automator and Script Editor. I don't want any of these. How do I go about resetting this so it will work?
Also, maybe if anyone has a Cocoa application for the same purpose of keep-alive for the sound card I'd be really greatful, as this application was made for 10.0.0-10.2.x and hasn't been updated since 2003.
I live in Canada where there is no apple store. My trackpad has stopped working, and Apple Canada support told me to drive the the states North Dakota to get it fixed. I was wondering cant they just send me a mailer and I mail it in?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have problem with USB ports on my new 13" MacBook Pro. Right USB connector now stop work.When I connect mouse to right USB connector - nothing happend, USB don't work. On the lest USB connector mouse work fine.When I connect not powered HD to left connector - LED od HD light but not visible on MAC. When I connect HD via power USB HUB to left USB connector it works. Right connector looks dead.In the System profiler I don't see IR Receiver which is connected to right USB HUB.Do you think that is HW or SW problem?

This is the log entry I am getting when my macbook randomly disconnects from my network.
My airport extreme is still up and running, as my phone is still connected, but the macbook has lsot connection.
The only way I can fix this is to reboot, something i have done almost every day for about 2 months now.

1. I have the newest 15'' MBP i5 (mid range model). I have only had my MBP for 2 months and have done the monthly cycle religiously for my battery. Now, I am not stupid and I realize overtime, the life of my battery will continuously decrease but currently my charge is only at 95%. I use Coconut battery, and it seems every time I take my MBP of the charger it goes down by 1%. Can anyone help explain this for me? Is my charger defective?
Also, I use the GPU info app for my MBP and it is always showing that I am using the NVIDIA GPU when Im not using any intensive programs, only Chrome. Why would this be? Are there programs running in the background that I cannot see? And if so, how can I stop or delete the ones I dont use.
