How do I stop osx from installing in my Mac I shutdown my computer to try to stop osx from installing but everytime I start my computer back up it just restarts the osx installation!!! How do I stop it?
My MBP has this issue every once in a while where I have to hold the power button and force shut down. Randomly the volume keys/brightness etc. stop working and i can't open apps or shut it down normally. Everything still works though (can still function in open applications) Anyone know what the problem is? It fixes when I force reset.
I just finished up a fresh install of Windows 7 and downloaded and installed the NVidia driver from their site directly since the one in the Boot Camp files is pretty old and technically the Vista driver anyway.
But I still need the Brightness, Sound, etc key functionality. Is there a way to selectively install Boot Camp drivers? That's the only one I need. The wireless, chipset, video and everything else works just fine (and in some cases better) than the ones included in Apple's setup.
I love my MBP half to death but for the past few days my fans have been going non stop. They are currently at 4965 rpm doing just web browsing. Should I get this checked out?
Up until a few months ago my MacBook had no problem opening PDF's. Now, for some reason it stopped.I have un-installed and re-installed Adobe Reader a number of times and no luck.
Is there a way to to STOP the mac from going to sleep when the lid is closed???? I REALLY hate this, This should be an option for US to choose if we want to do that or not. Am I missing a setting somewhere? I hope so!
I wasn't so concerned about this until my wife started complaining about my MacBook being so noisy. The fan didn't used to be always running. I think it was after I upgraded to OS X 10.5 that the fan decided it would just always be running. I have my MacBook on all the time and usually the applications that are open are, Firefox(with 10 active TABs), iTunes, Azureus, VLC and Mail (and Widgets). It used to only come on if Azureus was real busy. Now the fan will start up soon after I boot up and will even keep running when I close all Apps and only have the Finder open. What can I do to regulate my fan? It doesn't seem to want to control itself. Also, my MacBook never feels overheated. I used to have an iBook and that thing got hot. MacBook with constantly running fan fees real cool in comparison so I don't think the fan needs to be constantly running.
I rely on a program called SoundOn! to stop the popping sound on my Macbook aluminium while using external speakers. But, I seem to have done something (slash OS X seems to have done something) which means that the application now opens in Script Editor rather than a standalone application. When I go to the Get Info window in Finder to change the default application I cannot simply set it as an application and get a choice between TextEdit, Automator and Script Editor. I don't want any of these. How do I go about resetting this so it will work?
Also, maybe if anyone has a Cocoa application for the same purpose of keep-alive for the sound card I'd be really greatful, as this application was made for 10.0.0-10.2.x and hasn't been updated since 2003.
I live in Canada where there is no apple store. My trackpad has stopped working, and Apple Canada support told me to drive the the states North Dakota to get it fixed. I was wondering cant they just send me a mailer and I mail it in?
I have problem with USB ports on my new 13" MacBook Pro. Right USB connector now stop work. When I connect mouse to right USB connector - nothing happend, USB don't work. On the lest USB connector mouse work fine. When I connect not powered HD to left connector - LED od HD light but not visible on MAC. When I connect HD via power USB HUB to left USB connector it works. Right connector looks dead.In the System profiler I don't see IR Receiver which is connected to right USB HUB.Do you think that is HW or SW problem?
1. I have the newest 15'' MBP i5 (mid range model). I have only had my MBP for 2 months and have done the monthly cycle religiously for my battery. Now, I am not stupid and I realize overtime, the life of my battery will continuously decrease but currently my charge is only at 95%. I use Coconut battery, and it seems every time I take my MBP of the charger it goes down by 1%. Can anyone help explain this for me? Is my charger defective?
Also, I use the GPU info app for my MBP and it is always showing that I am using the NVIDIA GPU when Im not using any intensive programs, only Chrome. Why would this be? Are there programs running in the background that I cannot see? And if so, how can I stop or delete the ones I dont use.
i am using one of these colored keyboard covers.but my friend told me that this cover will make my macbook getting hot because it stops air from getting out . is that real ?and where is the real cooling spots on the white macbook (2009 and later )Â

So, when I start up my Macbook mid-2010, I log in first, and after 30 seconds the stop sign comes up. I am able to log in as a guest user.
When I load up the install disc of Snow Leopard and choose for Disk Utility, I can see the disk, but it sais it is not mounted? When I click on 'mount', it doesn't respond. see the following screenshot for more info:Â Â
I'm currently running OSX 10.7.32.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3Â I currently had some other problems with my mac, see this thread: [URL]Â Also it might be interesting that I had bootcamped my Mac, but since a couple of days I deleted the partition using the bootcamp utility.Â
I am migrating from old mac to new, seems it will take a lot of hours before completion. Can I stop it and quit? I plan to do it when going to work in the morning. Does this have any effect on both mac? 70 hours it just too long to wait.
I will not have internet coverage for a month and need to stop my inbox being overwhemed by mail in my absence. So far I have not succeeded in finding a way to opt out of reciving ASC e.mails.

I have an old MBP laying around that is not worth selling due to a number of little issues it has. However, it still functions just fine and, I think, would make an excelent server. However, there is one small issue: If I close the lid, it will go to sleep.Â
I've tried using a few different apps, InsomniaX and Caffiene being two of the more popular ones, but so far nothing seems to take. I know I can do this with the use of an external monitor or mouse, but I don't want to have to keep a mouse plugged in simply so my server can run and I don't have, or want, to set up a monitor for it.Â
how I can make my MBP behave as I'd like?

I'm running OSX 10.6.8. and have only used approximately 200GB of my 500 GB Hard drive. My mbpro simply hangs. I'll open a browser, or hot corner my spaces, save a file, whatever, and my laptop will not respond. Sometimes my cursor will still be movable but won't actually activate anything. I frequently get the BBOD and all I can do is wait until it stops and then all the cursor commands and keyboard clicks I made while it was spinning, execute...or not.I have run the Apple Hardware Test which came up negative. I've downloaded and installed ClamXAV which only came up with a couple of domain spoof type viruses which I've quarantined and deleted. I've got Little Snitch telling me what connections are going out but it seems that there's nothing unusual, but I frankly don't know that much about the processes other than what I have looked up on goole.I have looked at the Activity Monitor and every not and then, right when my machine hangs, I'll see a spike in Network Activity pane but almost seems as if the spike isn't being read because the processes that come up seem to be legitimate and often, they don't show that they've taken up all the bandwidth. Please help. I've got a G4 quicksilver from 2002 that still kicks A and my MBPro has made me nervous ever since switching to the Intel chipset. (Don't know if that actually has anytghing to do with it.) Lastly, I think there's a chance that I'm the fool who opened or executed something downloaded from the internet. It could have been a dashboard widget or an extension or add on or software or whatever.
There's an annoying chiming sound on my Macbook Pro that goes off sporadically when I have the volume turned up and I have no idea how to turn it off. I'd like to make it go away. Â
I researched on the internet on how to stop the discrete graphics from unnecessarily being switched into use.
From this site [url]... i found that if i typed in the key in the info.plist in the package contents of the application, the application would stop switching the discrete graphics on.
How can I stop the automatically magnifying my internet page that I am currently viewing? I automatically does it and I either have to refresh my page or close safari and reopen it.
