View 3 RepliesMy Macbook, I have just become aware that the light for power on isn't on, nor does it pulsate on standby. Everything else seems to be working normally, so I can live with this. But could this be a symptom of precursor of a more serious problem elsewhere?

I turned off my Mac, but nothing changed. The light stayed on. It was like living in an apartment above Time Square on New Year's Eve. I finally unplugged the damn thing. I was hoping it would fix itself overnight, but it didn't. It seems to be doing a good job of backing up with time machine, but the *(^%$ light won't turn off.

When I am in a quiet room, I notice a light humming coming from my macbook pro and also a light vibration on the right side. Is this just the hd spinning or something to be concerned about? it is 2 weeks old.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy MBP has this issue every once in a while where I have to hold the power button and force shut down. Randomly the volume keys/brightness etc. stop working and i can't open apps or shut it down normally. Everything still works though (can still function in open applications) Anyone know what the problem is? It fixes when I force reset.

I turned my Macbook off for about three hours to watch a movie. I hadn't had it on any longer than an hour prior to turning it off.
But after picking it up to turn it back on just now, I practically burned my hand on it. It's been off for THREE hours...
I'm assuming this is a bad sign. However, I know I didn't overwork it prior to turning it off. No hissing or mooing.
Keep asking me log in after having turned on the macbook air

I recently installed a VPN.
The performance through the VPN is badly affected by the Airport scanning regularly; often the VPN hangs.
I have deleted the unnecessary wireless networks listed in the Advanced button under Network Preferences. However, the problem persists.
Can you advise how to either stop the scanning or stop it interfering with Internet connection?
is it harmful to the hd?

For the owners of a uMBP with switchable graphics, how often do you keep your 9600 GT on and what kind of tasks do you use the GPU for? I got the mid-ranged 15" model for the 9600 GT but I can't see myself using it until the release Starcraft II ... and even after I have my desktop with an HD 4870 1GB. Do any of you regret purchasing the model with the 9600 GT?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI was listening a video on my MBP and everything was working fine. I then put my headphones away when I decided to listen to something else so I was what the heck I will just use the speakers but it seems as if they are turned off or something. I keep trying to put the volume up and down and it just comes up with the speaker picture with a circle and line through it. I looked up at the volume in the bar and it is grayed out at fun volume. When I plug in my headphones, the volume turns black again and allows for adjustment.
Did I accidentally turn off my speakers? How do I turn them back on or fix this? They were working totally fine earlier today but now they are not.

The mac was working fine though we heard the fan was broken. It was making a loud noise but worked fine. It use to over-heat very bad. So we decided to get the fan replaced. After 2 days we got it back. Then we tryed playing on it a games. It was laggy. Even after a certain amount of windows it would lag. Then we erased all the junk, and games and tryed to have multiple windows opened. It was bad. The fan didn't make noise but over heated very hot I installed an app and found out it would get so warm to about 219 degrees. We tryed backing it up and then reinstall another mac backup. The same result happened. We tryed again and still no change happend. We tryed all those cleaning programs clean my mac, mackeeper, antivirus, and some others. We erased them off to in the end.

Last night my macbook air turned off without warning and wouldn't turn back on until I tried again this morning. A few weeks ago I had my battery and logic board replaced and since then it the screen has gone blue for a few seconds and then back to normal a few times, (in case this is related at all). Is there something I should do to make sure this doesn't happen again.

My MacBook Air was closed (which I assume means asleep) and in my bag. Today I suddenly heard a weird hum from the bag and realized that the Airport was incredibly hot and blowing all fans full speed. Of course it was inside a padded bag so there was no air to move around and things got very hot. I have no idea how long it was in there but it could have been days (it was attached to charger cable).
1) is it likely to be damaged? any way to know?
2) any way to figure out why it woke up while closed? is there a log anywhere of that kind of thing? yesterday we had a power outage; could the Airport being cycled off/on somehow woken it up via wifi??
3) how do I prevent it from happening again - how do I shut off any possible options that might lead it to ever wake up while the lid is closed? I heard there's something called Wake on Demand and there is also some mode where people use them (with an external monitor) with the lid closed. I'd like to disable both
I bought MBA Mid 2011 last March, and I have updated OSX into the last update. Yesterday I connected my MBA into a server to open several spreadsheet files. I succeded. But then - I don't know exactly what's going on - maybe my MBA went off because I turned on the Power sleep at 15 mins. Then I couldn't turn on my MBA. Battery status was about 80%.

My Mac Book Pro freezes when it's turned on. The home screen comes up and then when I select any icon, the computer freezes. I have to restart it and hope that it works when it comes back on.

I was work uns in macbook pro attached to a monitor and keyboard+mouse and suddenly it began to get slow and I noticed the battery icon in 0% but with charging status, after that it turned off and I couldn't turn it on again... I let it charge but the charging bar on the side keeps blinking the first led and do not charge further.
Did I lose my battery? My motherboard is dead? I made the same and the charger light responded as it was normal.

I have stuff on it that I'd rather not lose, any advice
The other day my friend gave me his old macbook saying that it was broken and would only turn on sometimes. I have had this computer for 2 days and it has never turned on yet. He kept the hard drive so the machine does not currently have one. He also could not find the Mac OSX install CD, so I don't have one either. The battery is fully charged (the lights on the bottom of it are all on) and the light on the adapter is green. When I push the power button, nothing happens. No lights, no noise, nothing. I called apple and they told me that without a hard drive, the only way to test it would be to boot off of the Mac OSX disk by holding "c" when the computer is booting. The problem is, 1, I don't have a disk, and 2, how am I supposed to hold the c key while the computer is booting if it will not turn on? I have tried everything it says on the apple website and have tried it with different ram, with and a usb hard drive plugged in.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI turned on the MBP today (Mid-2007 Santa Rosa) and everything was going fine- until the screen started to jump! Literally the whole display bounces constantly, revealing a white line at the top of the screen (as if trying to center the screen or something). This is on the LCD- haven't tested it on a monitor yet. I just had my logic board replaced about 4 months ago for a faulty 8600GT chip- I'm so hoping it's not that.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook (late 2011) 15" 2.2 i7 pro. I noticed this after upgrading my RAM with 2 x 4gb Corsair DDR3 1333MHZ Ram (stock 2 x 2gb)Upon closing the macbook lid, the computer would goto sleep (the pulsing heartbeat light would be on). The problem is, if the macbook was in sleep mode for an extended period of time (I've tested and something over 15 minuites) the computer would shutdown. I have tried searching for similar problems and unable to find something exactly the same. I have reset the SMC and PRAM but this problem is still there.Obviously it would sound like the RAM but I am having no problems doing anything with the mbp, the only thing is this sleep turned into shutdown problem.
