Either I hit some sort of hot key or my computer is now possessed by a Speak and Spell. Everything I do is spoken by my computer. I tried going to the Speech section in the system pref's but that isn't helping. How do I turn this off?

I do not want to create a pause in a text to speech document. I want to be able to stop the system from talking for a moment until I'm ready to resume listening. Does anyone know if there's a "pause" button?

How do I stop applications from coming up when I power up my computer. If this were a Windows system I would be able to take the app out of the start up folder. On the Mac I don't know how.

After leaving machine on all night as I usuaaly do in the middle of a project I came in this morning to find power button blinking no -stop. No images on displays.Have reseated RAM (original 2G from Apple and subsequent modules (4x2) from OWC) twice and no change. No peripherals connected and no change.

Recently I have been getting all of these pop ups on my computer and they wont stop. My computer speed is still perfectly fine but the pop ups wont quit on my Safari and Google Chrome. I did download ClamXav app on the app store and its found a few trojans and has quarantined them and deleted them but I still have the pop ups, I also tried the Addblocker on Google and it has some but there are still Pop-Ups. I cant use the internet without any of these going away

I am sharing my internet connect, that I get with an ethernet port, through my airport card on my PowerMac MDD. It only goes for a few hours though, before it randomly shuts off. Do you know what could be causing this? I can't figure it out. I have OSX Leopard installed.

I am playing with my new MBP and wanted to know if iCHAT supports talking to buddies from Yahoo Messenger too, just like it does for AIM? I got the AIM one to work, and it says something about something called Bonjour (?) but nothing about Yahoo? Please let me know how to set this up as possible, that way I won't need separate programs for AIM and Yahoo Messenger. PS- Does windows media player have a program for MACs? If not, whats the best program similar to Windows Media Player that I can use to view all the same video types as that?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOX 10.4.11. Screen freezes when I stop working on computer. Usually can happen anywhere from 5 minutes to hours after I leave and come back. It doesnt happen when I'm working on computer and it doesnt seem to matter what programs I leave open. Ive tried zapping the pram...disabling the screensaver..I did an archive and install of the operating sysem (actually surprized myself by doing that one ) Ive run a disk utility and hardware check.. My computer is running a lot faster now, but it still has frozen up and needs to be restarted by holding down the button for a few seconds.

If I'm away from my computer for awhile, it goes to sleep and won't wake up. Hitting Return or other keys won't help; nor does pushing the Start button on the back. The only solution I've found is to unplug the computer, re-plug, then start again.
