I'm trying to save pictures that I find online to my mac but it's saving them as text files. It was working earlier today and it just all of a sudden stopped working. Does anybody know what's going on?
View 2 RepliesI read the computer saves live streaming video (Eg playing yutube) somewhere on the disk. Can anyone tell me short of downloading some program which will do it, how i can use what i already have to access this stream on my macbook unibody ?
Ive tried saving online streaming with VLC but didnt work and other free or demo programs didnt capture the sound so be grateful for any ways simply utilising my mac and terminal to get these streams !
a friend showed me this game a couple days ago called curveball. since first playing i have become extremely addicted. on my windows laptop, I used to save flash games and movies that ireally liked to my computer by accessing them in my temporary files folder and by copying them to another location. i have tried to do a similar thing using safari and IE, but i can't figure out how to do it...

My problem is that I've been saving the images from both my products websites and Google images and I've been creating the listing info for each product in word documents but all the images in the docs are in picture clipping format. How do I change them to JPG?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have about 25K pictures on my Aperture library and about 5K of them were converted from slides, scanned old pictures and taken on cameras that did not do dating. It was a lot of work but manually I gave proper (close) dates to each of the 5K pictures. I realize that I have time but with Aperture coming to an end and not knowing what kind of sorting the new Photo program will have I want to make sure that I save all my Pictures by Keynote, and and by Star rating, and also by year. If I just export each individual category mentioned will all my manual additions go with the individual jpeg so I can easily add them to whatever program might be worth using? I would hate to lose hundreds of hours worth of work.

I used a new USB flash drive this morning to transfer my pictures to. It showed it was transferring them then the screen went blue and nothing responded. I shut down the computer and unplugged everything but now when I turn the computer back on it shows my home screen and I can see the mouse icon moving around but I am unable to 'click" on any of my programs and get a response.

Since I have installed SL, when I try to print to PDF from the print menu or save a PDF I'm viewing with Preview (for example) from a website, the text of the PDF is completely garbled/scrambled.
I don't have this problem when I use Acrobat 8 Pro only when I am using the OS PDF or saving and/or printing from Preview. I have cleared the font cache, but no solution.
When I open text edit and yet I haven't saved it, it gives me an error that it can't save it automatically. I don't think I had this error before. here's the error:

I have a problem when saving a pdf using preview.
I create a document using Xelatex and the document works fine just after it is created, i.e. it looks good, it can be searched, etc. The problem comes when I save the document using preview. For example if I add a note, or highlight something and save the document, it automatically losses all text information.
It can still be opened and looks good, but it cannot be searched any more. In addition, if I try to copy a part of the text all I get are some strange characters that look like a small square with a face on it.
If I do the same procedure (i.e. open, highlight some text, and save) using pdf acrobat reader, the file is still readable both in acrobat and preview. It has to be fonts related, since it only happens when I use xelatex or latex with some specific fonts, but not with all of them.

I am trying to use OpenOffice and LibreOffice for word processing, but after I write with diacritics/romanian characters and save the text, when I open the document again the diacritics dissapear. In LibreOffice the diacritics become empty space and in OpenOffice I get ? instead of them.

iMac g5 1.9 ghz 17" running 10.5.8. Had a hard drive crash and bought a new one. Loaded new OS leapord. Everything works fine at first, but after the computer has been on for a while, it will stop downlading files, disk verify doesn't work. I can't copy and paste stuff. It seems as if the hard drive is full, but I have only used 32GB of 300GB.
When I restart, it works again, then slowly not. Is it an overheating issue? How do I know if my fan is running? Is it a bad hard drive I put in it? Bought it new with three year waranty.
I believe the mouse pad is hypersensitive, but it also will click on items when nothing is near the laptop. Eg. I'm no where near it and it will play/pause/change the song in itunes.

An automatic update for my Adobe Acrobat Reader installed today and I lost all capabilities of viewing online PDF's. I can still open ones on my desktop that were previously downloaded. I cannot download/save a PDF from the internet either using Safari. This is the first time this has happened. Should/how can I delete/uninstall Adobe Acrobate Reader and start over?

I am having a frustrating time with one aspect of garageband I can't seem to resolve. Here is the situation - if I record a multitrack live performance and save the entire 60 minute+ file it is 3.12GB in size.
If I then edit the file down into 7 minute, and 5 minute sections from the master file - they are still saving as 3.12GB files. It is as if I can't get rid of all of the contents of the master file when I edit down shorter i.e. smaller sections.
I received an email with a pdf file that I had to complete and send back. I opened the document with Preview, made the changes to complete the form, and saved it ("saved as" because the program wouldn't let me just "save" it. A box popped up saying that changes may affect the original format and that I had to "save as" to get a copy of the file). I opened it again just to make sure, and all the changes were there. I sent it via gmail, and a few hours later the original sender tells me that the form was empty. I checked, and it was empty, even though the name of the file was the one I gave it. I tried again with the same result. Using a PC I had no problems, so I am guessing that the issue is with Preview. Does anyone know what I did wrong?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn mail, i can only save to Downloads or a folder on the same level. It won't let me choose a subfolder or create a folder like i could before. Same thing when i try to save a file. When i'm using Adobe CS3 applications i swich to the adobe dialog boxes but this seems so stupid.
This is a HUGE time waster for me. I deal with a projects that involve a great quantity of files that need a lot of folder organization. Is this something to do with stacks? Am i being required to think differently?
In windows let's say I have a folder called "A". Let's say I am working on a project and I want to save it in that folder on my desktop. In windows you click "save as" then drill down to find the folder you want to save the file in. On my Mac it gives me the option for "desktop" but how do you pick a folder on the desktop to save a file in?

When we save these files, the only options given are "desktop" and "our external drive". We need to save them to folders, preferably on our external drive. Even if we create a folder on the desktop, we can't figure out how to save the file in that folder directly. The desktop is a mess because it is littered with images.

I keep my mac on all the time so start-up time is no concern if thats even a concern cause i remember back in my pc days reading you should keep your desktop clean for fast load up. I also found some script that hides all the stuff on my desktop so it looks empty and i access my desktop files through Finder if that makes any dif.
