I downloaded animation shop and got everything successfully but when i double clicked on the zip it just turned into a cpgz file. what is that? How do i get my program to work? I haven't really used a mac before and have no idea what files work on them...
View 2 RepliesBy mean of bootcamp, I install vista ultimate on my imac. Everything was working ok. I can bring up either programs by holding down my option key and then choose either pc or mac ox. But now a problem has come up. I can now only boot up the pc program and it does not matter if you use the option key or not. PC program is all I get. What can I do to get back on my mac ox program?

I'm picking up everything ok, except for a few little things. My biggest problem is in the "Numbers" spreadsheet program. I've searched the help topics and cant figure out how to make the numbers in my budget add up.
For example:
Paycheck- $500
Rent-$100
Food-$50
Car-$25
Total Expenses- $175
Difference between income and expenses: I cant get it to fill in the gap between the income and expenses so I know how much I have left over without having to do all the math myslef. Excel used to do this, is there a way to make Numbers do it too?
Will my Mac Mail program work with iCloud? Will I still be able to receive messages in Mac Mail program sent to my non-Apple addresses?

I have an older MBP (2.2Ghz, 2GB RAM, 120GB HD) and am having problems with PDF files. Well, I guess it would be better described as annoyances with PDF files. I use Adobe Reader and the lag when scrolling is unbearable. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Can anyone suggest alternate programs that may remedy my problem.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a 15-inch MacBook Pro, the new unibody ones, and I installed Windows XP, using BootCamp.
I made it a 29 or so GB partition, so it used the FAT32 formatting.
The program I tried to install is the eyeQ speed reading program, and the laptop exceeds every single one of the recommended requirements.
The problem comes when I am attempting to install the program, I keep getting an error message in which it says "This program cannot run on a computer with less than 64 megabytes of ram."
Last time I checked my laptop has 4 GB of ram, and it says the same thing when I checked it while running Windows XP.
My only guess, which I made while typing this, was that I should have formatted the Windows partition using NTSF.
I want to capture selections on my screen and add comments. Is there a program out there that will allow me to do that? I don't like the "grab it" program because it saves the captured file in a Tiff format instead of a Jpeg format.

I don't want to backup settings, my whole harddrive nor make a bootable backup. Just something to backup what I want to backup and where.
Not sure if Time Machine can do that, but it wants me to reformat my external before I can even find out..and considering how much is on there, I really don't want to have to remove that all elsewhere while doing so. [Don't think I could anyway, none of my internal drives have that much space.]
So, does anyone know of a relatively painless backup app that could do simply what I want? Doesn't sound all that complicated in comparison to some of the more convoluted backup apps I keep finding.
I am trying to switch my email program from Thunderbird to the mac email program Mail.Thunderbird has been playing up a lot recently and am tired of the glitches.
I have all the correct server settings etc and succesfully imported my mailboxes. The problem is that when I send an email it isn't from the right email address?? Is this a Mail problem or smth to do with my settings? I have a 2008 black macbook with 10.7.2 installed (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM). When I press caps lock, no green light turns on and letters remain in non-capital form. Even when I hold Caps lock for a few seconds, nothing happens. If I physically connect an apple keyboard via usb to my computer, caps lock doesn't work.

I told myself not to do it. Don't update the Safari software to 4.0, you know how they always mess up these things. And yet, per accident I did. Of course Safari 4.0 doesn't work. Every time I open it, it shuts down. iChat also doesn't work anymore, and even the Dashboard shuts down every now and then. In addition, the computer feels incredibly slow. I can't download rapidshare links on iGetter anymore and everything just feels wrong. Countless threads have been opened on this matter with a variety of different problems for different people. Yet I have not read a proper solution. I have seen all kinds of technical solutions being offered but I'm not a computer wiz and I do not know the terms they use. I just want to go back to Safari 3.2 or at least the one before the 4.0 But I read that deleting Safari 4 and reinstalling 3.2 won't work because of a certain webkit that got installed with it, making it impossible to go back.

Since I just lost my hard drive on my iMac 24 Intel, I am using external hard drive to backup via Time Machine. My question is what procedures are needed when you disconnect ext. hard drive? Do you change Time Machine from ON to OFF?
I know that I have to eject the ext. hard drive using proper commands, but what happens whenever I reinstall the ext. hard drive? Does Time Machine start over from the beginning or just update for changes since my last backup via Time Machine?
When I go on trips, I store ext hard drive in a safe and this is why I am asking.
Why are Apple applications are so much larger than similar Microsoft applications. Some examples: Word -12.7 MB and Pages - 273.4 MB: Excel - 11.7 MB and Numbers - 138.6 MB. Both Word and Excel are sophisticated programs and I would have assumed they would be large, and that since Pages and Numbers are relatively new so they would be lean, but the opposite seems to be the case. They all work well except Numbers is slow. Is that a function of size? Is obesity epidemic in programming as well as programmers?

When I export via File > Export > Quicktime Movie..., the cross dissolves between images disappear when I watch the movie in Quicktime.
When I export via File > Export > Using Quicktime Conversion... the color looks horrible in the Quicktime movie.
In the last 2 weeks before my MP shipped, I've asked 3 Apple Geniuses at Apple stores and Apple Tech support about running dual DVI 23" Cinema Displays with 4870's. They ALL said I would need a second card. When I attempted the install, there were only 2 power cord clips on the back face of the main board. Both being used by the onboard Radeon 4870. What to do next? Another call to Apple support offered me a nice Indian girl who I could not really understand. Finally, I called a local non-Apple shop that I frequent for hardware and service issues. The very nice service tech told me to take the 2nd card back, since that original 4870 will drive 2 monitors perfectly, in my case, with a simple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adaptor for the 2nd 23" display.
how would you install any 2nd graphics card, if a 4870 takes up both power clips?
I'm on a IMac OS X (version 10.5.8) and I just noticed a bit of a change in the graphics while playing Heroes of Newerth. I left all the graphic stuff on medium quality, and I've noticed now that when it is on full screen the picture is sketchy. When I minimize the full screen (apple m) i realize its a lot smoother than it is in wide screen (no kidding huh?). Before I thought it was just due to me having the IMac wireless, but I've noticed it's been happening for a week already and I usually get better bandwidth when no one is home. So is this a graphics card issue or what and if so how would i deal with this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just picked up a second 24" ACD with the mini display port. I already have one, so the mini display port on my 4870 is in use. So I think I need an adaptor to go from the MDP on the second display to the DVI on the 4870.
However, this adaptor has a male MDP and a female DVI. The ACD has a male MDP, so I think I need an adaptor which is a female MDP and a female DVI.
I find it a little strange that it is so difficult to put two identical monitors on the Mac Pro. I did search the forums, but kept getting hits for the above adaptor and I am not sure how it would work.
Mail.app will not download my work emails while I am at work, although it works fine when I am at home. The settings are exactly the same as for Thunderbird on my desktop, which works fine.

When I looked into the history of safari I saw a lot of game sites and socialnetworking sites as "most visited sites". They are aloud to play games etc in their pauses. But not in work time ofcourse. So I wondered is there a program or function built into mac os x so I can see what they are doing on their mac/so I can see the desktop. I know there's the option to control the screen from a distance, but I just want to watch.
