Just made an image slideshow in Final Cut.
Just a bunch of images and some audio.
When I export via File > Export > Quicktime Movie..., the cross dissolves between images disappear when I watch the movie in Quicktime.
When I export via File > Export > Using Quicktime Conversion... the color looks horrible in the Quicktime movie.
ive been using FCPX for ages now. now for some reason....i'm unable to add a cross dissolve to the VIDEO track where I would like a dissolve....i have attached a jpg to show you.....as you can see, the cross dissolve when i drag and drop to the VIDEO layer......forces to the AUDIO layer.

I just received a new MacBook Pro for Christmas (very excited) and I had the Apple Production Suite for my old PowerBook G4. I just got finished installing Final Cut Pro 4.5 on the new MacBook Pro and now it will not work. When I try to open the application a message pops up on the screen reading:
"Configuration error
This software requires certain hardware or software which is missing.
-AGP Graphics Card"
Now if I'm not mistaken the older version of Final Cut Pro is supposed to work with the new MacBook Pros even though their internals are different. If I'm wrong, then I have a bit of a problem. Have any of you had this problem or similar ones? I'm just wondering what I can do to fix it, I should also note that LiveType and Soundtrack are working fine, it's just Final Cut Pro.
is it possible to work with final cut pro on Powermac g4 1,25 ghz.2x with 80+80 gig hard??i going to buy that,and don't know if it's worth!

I just upgraded to Yosemite and Final Cut Pro no longer works. It hangs up and crashes if you try to play a video.

Today I started my computer and launched FCPX, just like pretty much every day of the past 3 weeks. All of a sudden, I can't apply Cross Dissolves (or any other transition) to any clip. I constantly get this message:
I know that my clips need handles in order to make a transition work, and that is totally the case... in some cases, there are 3 minutes of footage before AND after the part that is in my timeline, so I don't see any reason for this message to appear. Also when I click on the "Create Transition" button, nothing happens.
This really grinds my gears and I have absolutely NO clue what could cause this problem. I googled for hours and reset pretty much everything there is to reset - without success.
I'm still on 10.1.2 because I'm editing a big project and I don't want to risk it being delayed/damaged by problems with the newest version.

I have a 2008 black macbook with 10.7.2 installed (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM). When I press caps lock, no green light turns on and letters remain in non-capital form. Even when I hold Caps lock for a few seconds, nothing happens. If I physically connect an apple keyboard via usb to my computer, caps lock doesn't work.

I told myself not to do it. Don't update the Safari software to 4.0, you know how they always mess up these things. And yet, per accident I did. Of course Safari 4.0 doesn't work. Every time I open it, it shuts down. iChat also doesn't work anymore, and even the Dashboard shuts down every now and then. In addition, the computer feels incredibly slow. I can't download rapidshare links on iGetter anymore and everything just feels wrong. Countless threads have been opened on this matter with a variety of different problems for different people. Yet I have not read a proper solution. I have seen all kinds of technical solutions being offered but I'm not a computer wiz and I do not know the terms they use. I just want to go back to Safari 3.2 or at least the one before the 4.0 But I read that deleting Safari 4 and reinstalling 3.2 won't work because of a certain webkit that got installed with it, making it impossible to go back.

I initially made a slide show of 250 old family photos in iPhoto. It looks great and the cross dissolve function is very smooth.
However, I now need to take portions of music rather than entire songs and blend the songs into each other. This requires that do the slide show in iMovie so can use the timeline to edit the music to fit with certain portions of the slideshow.
The problem that I am running into is that the cross dissolve function in iMovie is jumpy and not smooth like it is in iPhoto. Also, some photos have "stuttering" and flashing between the transitions. I have tried adjusting the cross dissolve time and length of photo and can't seem to get it to look right. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? For example, if I want each photo to be on the screen for 3 seconds, how long should I make the transition? If I remove the transitions, this problem is gone. But then the photos just go from 1 to the other after 3 seconds and the effect is a bit jarring. I'm stumped. In addition, the image quality does not seem as good as in iPhoto - but if I use iPhoto I cannot make a title page or time the music.
Since I just lost my hard drive on my iMac 24 Intel, I am using external hard drive to backup via Time Machine. My question is what procedures are needed when you disconnect ext. hard drive? Do you change Time Machine from ON to OFF?
I know that I have to eject the ext. hard drive using proper commands, but what happens whenever I reinstall the ext. hard drive? Does Time Machine start over from the beginning or just update for changes since my last backup via Time Machine?
When I go on trips, I store ext hard drive in a safe and this is why I am asking.
Why are Apple applications are so much larger than similar Microsoft applications. Some examples: Word -12.7 MB and Pages - 273.4 MB: Excel - 11.7 MB and Numbers - 138.6 MB. Both Word and Excel are sophisticated programs and I would have assumed they would be large, and that since Pages and Numbers are relatively new so they would be lean, but the opposite seems to be the case. They all work well except Numbers is slow. Is that a function of size? Is obesity epidemic in programming as well as programmers?
View 7 Replies View RelatedIn the last 2 weeks before my MP shipped, I've asked 3 Apple Geniuses at Apple stores and Apple Tech support about running dual DVI 23" Cinema Displays with 4870's. They ALL said I would need a second card. When I attempted the install, there were only 2 power cord clips on the back face of the main board. Both being used by the onboard Radeon 4870. What to do next? Another call to Apple support offered me a nice Indian girl who I could not really understand. Finally, I called a local non-Apple shop that I frequent for hardware and service issues. The very nice service tech told me to take the 2nd card back, since that original 4870 will drive 2 monitors perfectly, in my case, with a simple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adaptor for the 2nd 23" display.
how would you install any 2nd graphics card, if a 4870 takes up both power clips?
I'm on a IMac OS X (version 10.5.8) and I just noticed a bit of a change in the graphics while playing Heroes of Newerth. I left all the graphic stuff on medium quality, and I've noticed now that when it is on full screen the picture is sketchy. When I minimize the full screen (apple m) i realize its a lot smoother than it is in wide screen (no kidding huh?). Before I thought it was just due to me having the IMac wireless, but I've noticed it's been happening for a week already and I usually get better bandwidth when no one is home. So is this a graphics card issue or what and if so how would i deal with this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just picked up a second 24" ACD with the mini display port. I already have one, so the mini display port on my 4870 is in use. So I think I need an adaptor to go from the MDP on the second display to the DVI on the 4870.
However, this adaptor has a male MDP and a female DVI. The ACD has a male MDP, so I think I need an adaptor which is a female MDP and a female DVI.
I find it a little strange that it is so difficult to put two identical monitors on the Mac Pro. I did search the forums, but kept getting hits for the above adaptor and I am not sure how it would work.
Mail.app will not download my work emails while I am at work, although it works fine when I am at home. The settings are exactly the same as for Thunderbird on my desktop, which works fine.

I already have a CPU drop in DVD, so I'm assuming it should be a pretty easy upgrade. I'm planning to do it tonight. Will all of my old 10.4 Apps run on 10.5, or will I need to install 10.5 and then update all my apps? I'm really hoping they will work as is, because I have a huge amount of apps and really don't want to have to update them before they will work again. If anyone can answer my question, or has any tips, tricks, advice, etc.

I installed Adobe Photoshop into my Applications folder. It created an "Adobe Photoshop" folder containing a shortcut to Photoshop plus a bunch of other folders for plugins, presets, scripts, etc.
I don't want to go into the folder each time I want to open Photoshop, so I tried to move the program from that folder into the main Applications folder, but that did not work (the package would not open). So my question is ... on Windows, I could just create a shortcut to Photoshop and place it in any folder I liked. Is there some way to do that on a Mac? I just want to create a target to Photoshop in my main Applications folder and then hide all the associated folders and files instead of having to access the folder itself from the Applications folder. But I still want those folders accessible from a Finder window.
I have had an iPhone 3G since February 2009. I have not been much of a fan of it, especially over the past summer when the iOS 4.0 update came out. Much of that has been fixed with iOS 4.1.
I am starting to think about getting another phone, and I am hesitant to get an iPhone 4 after the 3G. I am also extremely hesitant to get a smartphone from another maker (WebOS 2.0), but I invested a lot in the past 3-4 years into iTunes with my iPhone and iPod. I have a huge collection in iTunes (40GB+), so I am chained to it.
How can I get a 3rd party smartphone work with iTunes, or atleast be able to pull my collection with a 3rd party software package to sync with my collection or sync with iTunes. I have a Macbook, and use OS X 10.6.4.
I downloaded Geekbench a couple times now but I can't get it to work. Every time i open it it just makes another copy of Geekbench without doing anything else.
