Mar 12, 2012I am trying to remove a status icon for an application I uninstalled. When I try to drag it, nothing happens, so removing it by the "command"key & drag method isn't effective. Is there another way I can get rid of it?

Nov 10, 2009I know Automator can click on files just by recording my own "Watch Me Do"s, but it never recognizes file dragging actions. All it will do is click on the file, then move the cursor after releasing the file. Is there a command I'm missing that will accomplish dragging?

May 4, 2012There are many things about Lion that irk the crap outta me, but this one is near the top. In ALL previous versions of Finder, one could, in list view, select a bunch of files by dragging over them, then, holding the command key down, add more non-contiguous files to the selection, again by dragging. If you try that in Lion, it starts dragging the whole lot of what you just selected to, usually, the root folder of the window you have open.Â
It appears that the only way to add extra non-contiguous files to a selection is to individually click each one of them.

Mar 30, 2012So I just inherited from my coworker's MacBook Pro. I then decided to transfer all of my files and realized that the root folder was still on his name. I changed the User's name in "System Preferences" but that did not change the root folder's name. I then went to Terminal and tried to change the folder's name using the "mv OldFoldersName NewFoldersName"Â and the prompt said Permission denied. I then used "sudo mv OldFoldersName NewFoldersName". After restarting my computer, all the files were gone and I landed on a "LION first time USE" type of Desktop. All my files are gone and terminal shows me two users' names under /Users/ => OldUser and NewUser.
What can I do to recover my old files? What can I do to repair my Mistake and only have one User?

Sep 6, 2010I god my MacBook Pro a couple of weeks ago, and I am very satisfied! I noticed that the Maven version is 2.2.0, and I wanted to update to 2.2.1. I tried to looked at some tutorials on how to do this, but something went wrong.
In the Terminal, if I write "mvn -v", I get "-bash: mvn: command not found". Normally, I would get some information on what version Maven is and some other things. The strange thing is that when i write "sudo mvn -v" I get what I should:

Also, visual performance is really poor, when I drag a window around it moves at a very poor framerate. In Windows XP this is also the case but not as badly, can something be done to improve either of these problems?

We just want to use a POP account with Mail.
For some reason an IMAP account was previously added, which I want to delete (Mail keeps trying to send / receive from this IMAP account, which isn't set up, and stops Mail working)
However, when I try and delete it by going to Mail -> Preferences, then selecting the IMAP account and pressing the '-' button - it won't delete it! It just stays there in the left hand column. How to I delete it?

Also, I can no longer access the server hosting this acct. and messages. Mail warns me that if I remove this account "all messages will be deleted permanently from your computer." Sounds like I should leave it be even though there are no messages left from this acct. in Mail. Would removing this Mail acct. actually result in all the messages in other non-Mail folders on my computer disappearing?

But I can't find my snow leopard disk so I was thinking of creating a new account then deleting the one I use now. Jun 2, 2014I had an Exchange account that I had been using for years. Recently, I switched jobs, and therefore the Exchange account was discontinued (i.e. my user was deleted from the server, emails bounce). BUT I cannot remove this obsolete account from my System Preferences > Internet Accounts. It drives me crazy. Whenever I hit the "-" minus button, the account disappears, but whenever I open Internet Accounts again, it's right back in its place. Apple Mail keeps complaining that it "cannot connect to the server", but won't let me delete the account.Â
