View 2 RepliesI am trying to remove a status icon for an application I uninstalled. When I try to drag it, nothing happens, so removing it by the "command"key & drag method isn't effective. Is there another way I can get rid of it?

The weird icon with the phone just showed up a few minutes ago but that eject button has been there for a couple weeks. How can I get rid of these? They dont do anything. Also the iChat bubble. Its defective and just shows a big white block on the left of my screen when I click it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a lot of icons in my menu bar and I thought I saw reference to an app one can run that only has like one menu bar action that will free up most of the space so one can see the other menu bar icons. Does anybody know the name of this app or have any suggestions (other than "remove some of the menu bar icons"?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI god my MacBook Pro a couple of weeks ago, and I am very satisfied! I noticed that the Maven version is 2.2.0, and I wanted to update to 2.2.1. I tried to looked at some tutorials on how to do this, but something went wrong.
In the Terminal, if I write "mvn -v", I get "-bash: mvn: command not found". Normally, I would get some information on what version Maven is and some other things. The strange thing is that when i write "sudo mvn -v" I get what I should:
Apache Maven 2.2.1 (r801777; 2009-08-06 21:16:01+0200)
Java version: 1.6.0_20
Java home: /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home
Default locale: nb_NO, platform encoding: MacRoman
OS name: "mac os x" version: "10.6.4" arch: "x86_64" Family: "mac"
It seems that the command "mvn" is not connected to Maven in a right way.
I want to take a screen shot, and combination of command+shift+4 use to work. Not any more.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi am a tad stumped by this issue i'm having right now with my new imac. i noticed one day that none of my desktop aliases show any longer. in fact if i go to the desktop folder through finder my files and such show in there however none of my aliases nor those files show on the actual desktop. another thing i've noticed is that whenever i now try to drag and drop anything to the desktop whether it be a URL from safari or an alias i made in finder the dragged item simply just drags itself back to where i pulled it from.

Also, after uninstalling Toast I still cant remove the "Toast it" menu command even after removing all sorts of Toast related code from the MBP.
I just want to know where the menu bar icon .png files are so that I can customize them a little with photoshop.
my DELETE functionality within finder is not working consistently anymore. I am only seeing this issue on my new MAC BOOK AIR (used for work and received just last week), and not on my macmini (that is also running Lion and I've had for a year).Â
Basically, I am having problems deleting files using CMD + DELETE. I hit this command and get the typically apple "ping" sound for a something that isn't working, however I can right click and hit MOVE TO TRASH and it goes immediately, which means it's definitely not a file permission/in-use/lockout issue.Â
I feel like I did something stupid to cause this, but it only doesn't work occasionally. I have noticed it moreso right after I open or have used a file, but while CMD+DEL doesn't work, the MOVE TO TRASH does, so i'm lost.Â
extremely frustrated and I've been through my System Pref settings alot in case I turned something off.Â

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to delete an application icon in my menu bar (the top right with the little icons for battery, sound, airport, finder, date and time). For apple applications the command and drag (and move works) is good, but the others don't respond (installed a canon printer/scanner). So, how do I delete (which is what I want now) or move them around (for future) the icons?

I'm not sure what is going on, but some time ago my Spotlight icon in the menubar disappeared. Now for some reason the Eject icon is on the far right where Spotlight should be. Also the keyboard shortcut is not working. To do a search I have to now go to the finder and hit Command-F. I really miss not having Spotlight

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy menu bar icons have disappeared after installing Snow Leopard. How to get them back. WiFi, Spaces, Volume, Battery and Spotlight blinks on and off. Black Macbook running Leopard with the standard upgrade to Snow Leopard was done. Have an iMac and seems to have everything working on it and did the same upgrade. Both are having small glitches in Safari, but can deal with. It's the no battery and WiFi that's really bugging me. Turning iStat Menus off solves the problem with missing Bar Menu icons.
View 3 Replies View RelatedLately the menu bar will randomly throw in a huge gap between icons. Initially I thought it was a specific app, but now it's happening with all sorts of random icons there...definitely not the same icon each time.
The icons you see on the left are the ones I launched after the gap appeared.
Restarting my machine seems to be the only solution to removing the gap.

I've also tried trashing the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist pref but that didn't do the trick.
So I just inherited from my coworker's MacBook Pro. I then decided to transfer all of my files and realized that the root folder was still on his name. I changed the User's name in "System Preferences" but that did not change the root folder's name. I then went to Terminal and tried to change the folder's name using the "mv OldFoldersName NewFoldersName"Â and the prompt said Permission denied. I then used "sudo mv OldFoldersName NewFoldersName". After restarting my computer, all the files were gone and I landed on a "LION first time USE" type of Desktop. All my files are gone and terminal shows me two users' names under /Users/ => OldUser and NewUser.
What can I do to recover my old files? What can I do to repair my Mistake and only have one User?

View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know a way to hide/get rid of third-party menu bar icons? It seems like every developer out there wants to create a menu bar icon for things that are completely unnecessary, and only half of the time do they have an option for turning it off. Does anyone know of a way to just hide the icon completely? Or hack the application's resources to not display it?
