I am trying to remove a status icon for an application I uninstalled. When I try to drag it, nothing happens, so removing it by the "command"key & drag method isn't effective. Is there another way I can get rid of it?
im trying to reinstall OS X leopard 10.5.2 for a spring 2008 MACBOOKPRO model, it all went fine until the machien asked me to insert the INSTALL DISC 2 and after that computer doesnt recognize install disc 2Â and i cant reinstall it with INSTALLÂ DISC 1 either, this is with original DVD9 (quite old DVDs), i dont know what is wrong, i did everything by the rules and now i cant restart de installation process, would love to get some info on how to restart the whole thing and if the DVDs age is somewhat related to this glitch.
I find it really inconvenient to have to manually drag Microsoft Office Documents to iCloud's website. It is possible to set up an iCloud folder or something like to save to automatically?
I am a recent Mac convert and I just set up user profiles on my Mac Mini for my two kids. My son plays Pirates of the Caribbean online. I installed it on the Mac and when I opened the applications folder and tried to drag the icon into the doc it wouldn't drag and I got an error message saying I couldn't launch the application from there. I wasn't trying to start it from there, only drag it. There was no problem performing the same task with Safari. I also had no problem dragging the icon to the dock under my user profile (admin.)
I know it's kind of silly, but is it possible to use Apple Mail's icon and sort of drag'n'drop it to use it on Entourage? I prefer Entourage as my email app, but find Apple Mail's ICON nicer, so would it be possible for my Entourage to use Apple Mail's icon in the dock?
I created a Ubuntu VM on my mac and installed the VMWare tool stuff. Now the mouseover thing and auto screen resizing works, but I can't copy and paste files into my VM...
Is this impossible with Linux or did something go wrong when installing it?
Also, visual performance is really poor, when I drag a window around it moves at a very poor framerate. In Windows XP this is also the case but not as badly, can something be done to improve either of these problems?
I thought that I would just point out that when I went to watch the iPod touch Guided Tour on Apple's website, this showed up:I would also like to point out that I upgraded to Snow Leopard, I didn't install Quicktime 7, meaning that Apple's own website doesn't support the newest version on Quicktime.
I own both an iMac and a MacBook.Lately I've been trying to use [URL] and while the website does work, it displays totally wrong on my iMac ?I looked at all I could think of (not a newbie, but not savvy enough to go look in the coding to look for errors there). The one section from the site which displays correctly is one without a menu on both right and left. It's a blog. Here's a clue, I guess. I tried with both Safari 5.1.6 and Firefox 13.0, with the exact same result. But on my Macbook it displays perfect! I am using Firefox 12.0 on it. So I downgraded to Firefox 12.0 on the iMac... no success.Of course I also cleared the cache, closed the browser, and the computer... no luck.I then removed all plugins, since it was the only remaining difference...I thought it could be a difference in display... altough I couldn't see how... I changed it from 1920x1080 to the ones similar to my Macbook's (1280x1024 and 1280x720)... Of course it was the same, just more blurry. It doesn't make sense and I hate it when it doesn't make sense!Of course I hate it even more that I can't use that website on my iMac!!! (or with a lot of hassle).Â
Sometimes it does load the main page, but very slowly and any link I click starts loading forever but without any success.
Does anyone know what the problem could possibly be? I have already called the site and they told me they are not experiencing problems. In addition, it does load on Windows...
Safari is giving me a pop up that says "Safari doesn't identify this website". It comes up every time I search and when i press continue the webpage doesn't load properly.
Just purchased a Magic Mouse to use with my Macbook Pro. When I left click on a Bookmarked Website in Safari it does not open the website it gives me the option to rename the website. Very frustrating. I have to either click on the screen shot above the bookmarks or I have to right click and choose open.
I have not tried all of the things people have said to do on the internet because all of them have said it didn't work. I bought and used the mackeeper but this didn't solve my problem either.
Nothing on my computer will let me click and drag anything. It doesn't work in any application, or the desktop (in Expose I am able to move around those applications, but nothing else). I have had this problem for quite some time now.Â
I have had this problem for a long as I have had Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. The problem is that drag & drop works intermittently for applications such as the Finder, iTunes, Fetch, etc.
My workaround for the Finder was to switch from list view to column view, but for programs like Fetch or iTunes, I cannot do that. Sometimes the solution is to relaunch the application, but this is not guaranteed.
I am running every latest update available (as of Nov. 18, 2008) for my system and software. I am currently on Mac OS X 10.5.5. The problem also affects more than one computer. These are the computers I've experienced it on:
I'm playing around with Candybar to change some icons and it has a strange behavior. When I drag new icon to the application (Firefox) in it changed in Candybar, I'm asked to apply the changes and restart the Dock but the icons are not changed.I made a short video that show the problem.I also tried to just restart OSX but it doesn't work either.
So I'm planning on getting a new iMac. One thing that always bugs me about my other macs has been their wretched keyboards ... on my linux machine that I use at work I still rock an old IBM Type M, but alas the whole USB thing has made them obsolete.
I've been poking around at a variety of options - Unicomp, Das Keyboard, and others. Was just curious as to if anyone had thoughts on the best options for a buckling spring type keyboard for a Mac user ... it doesn't seem like any of them offer true mac KB layouts (volume keys, eject, etc), but c'est la vie.
It is as simmple as the title. I can not drag and drop icons or text or folders. Nothing. As for cut, copy, and paste they do not work either. I am trying to back up my files so I can do a clean install of snow leopard. I have leopard currently.
I downloaded a beta test recently, now it's finished I have the folder sitting in my Applications folder, but it won't let me drag it out into the trash. I've logged in as an Administrator, changed my regular ID to have Admin status, none of it works. I've got the CCleaner app from the App Store, same issue. It tells me I need to be an Admin to uninstall files, but even when I log in as the Admin, it gives me the same message.
I can't copy and paste, drag and drop, or use spotlight on my macbook purchased in 2007 running mac os x 10.5.8.Â
I noticed the problem when using serato scratch live initially because it wouldn't let me drag and drop the songs in to cue. I was able to use the key board short cuts and moved on. I then tried to clear some items from my desk top to the trash can and was unable to drag them. I was able to open the desk top in the finder and use the file, move to trash option. The problem became unbearable when I was reorganizing a word document and could not cut and paste within the document. The commands did not work from edit either. I have found that I am able to cut but not paste in the mean time.Â
A user kindly pointed me to a link using the terminal to see if I had a tmp folder. I did but the date was from October of 2007 which is around when I bought the machine. I have run repair permissions from disk utitilty as suggested in yet another forum to no avail...hence reposting with my specific symptoms? Short of reinstalling mac os x, what are my options DOC?
I really need help with this; I've searched "iphoto won't open" and many other variations of that, but I haven't found anything the same as my situation. When I click the iPhoto icon on the dock, it bounces once... and then stops, without opening or doing anything else. It does the same if I open it through finder->applications. It's driving me crazy!! I have a MacBook with Tiger OS X 10.4.11, iPhoto 7.1.5 and NO tech experience.
