This morning I suddenly found out that, on my new macbook pro, command-delete will delete the file (with the warning window) immediately without putting it into trash first. This function works well yesterday.

How I can get this functionality working in Aperture?

I have seen some people talking about a new feature in Snow Leopard, where hovering over MP3s or PDFs allowed you to preview the file. I am not seeing this feature on my Snow Leopard machine. How do you enable it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen calling the find command in finder (cmd-f), search criteria are by default set to Kind is Any. I'd like to add some, e.g. Sytem files are included (instead of having to do this manually in almost every search). Can't find anything on this in the net.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen using finder and browsing through folders, it will only show me a list of recent folders. I use Lion. If I want to see all the folders or open up a less recent folder, I have to click "show all" at the top right hand corner. It gets tedious when I'm dragging and dropping files to different folders when I have to constantly click "show all" just to see the folders I want. Is there a way to override this function through the terminal? Is there a command I can use?

I accidentally ran a command twice for the "Remove from Dock" thing to pop up for finder. I have already tried the plist thing, and it did not work, because I ran it twice. How can I reset it and the dock???
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't find anything else on here about this, but I've tried several external keyboards with my new MacBook Pro (including the latest Apple) and Command+Delete doesn't work with any of them. It works fine using the notebook keyboard. I've reset the key combos to default several times. Nothing. Other key combinations that I use all work. And the command key and delete key each work for other things.

I tried googling it, but the only result (fn+backspace), didn't work.

I'm a dude that can't speak and needs a way to talk to people that only have a fax or phone number. I originally didn't even know Mac osx could do that. Do I just unhook my land line and plug it into my laptop and go to the printer/fax option? Would that work or do I need a designated fax number? I'm running OSX 10.4.11.

Someone gave me a terminal command that allowed my OS X Admin user permission to make an application alias without having to enter my user password. I've since forgotten the command and wish to use it for a new admin user since my old admin has gremlins on a number of apps but new users are not troubled in same way. I can't beleive Apple would default to requiring a password to make/edit an alias but there you go the distrurbing trend towards their total control of my desktop advances… not to mention User SysPrefs leaking over from another user for keyboard shortcuts and sounds?

I've tried Windows Vista and 7 on SL using VMware Fusion, and both have told me that my score was 1.0 because of the graphic card.
Is there any way to trick the windows, or it is really the graphic card is not advanced enough on the MBP?
I was helping a friend by reformatting his pc and reinstalling windows because it was slow, when I was downloading the drivers for it on my MacBook Pro (didn't have access to the router since it's downstairs and his pc didn't have a wireless card), it downloaded a folder filled with locked files, it comes several folders deep and all of the files are locked, fun. So I tried to delete it using sudo rm -r, but it says I don't have sufficient privileges, anyone know a command I can use to delete it all? I'd rather not do it by hand, that'd take forever.
View 10 Replies View Relatedmy DELETE functionality within finder is not working consistently anymore. I am only seeing this issue on my new MAC BOOK AIR (used for work and received just last week), and not on my macmini (that is also running Lion and I've had for a year).
Basically, I am having problems deleting files using CMD + DELETE. I hit this command and get the typically apple "ping" sound for a something that isn't working, however I can right click and hit MOVE TO TRASH and it goes immediately, which means it's definitely not a file permission/in-use/lockout issue.
I feel like I did something stupid to cause this, but it only doesn't work occasionally. I have noticed it moreso right after I open or have used a file, but while CMD+DEL doesn't work, the MOVE TO TRASH does, so i'm lost.
extremely frustrated and I've been through my System Pref settings alot in case I turned something off.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI god my MacBook Pro a couple of weeks ago, and I am very satisfied! I noticed that the Maven version is 2.2.0, and I wanted to update to 2.2.1. I tried to looked at some tutorials on how to do this, but something went wrong.
In the Terminal, if I write "mvn -v", I get "-bash: mvn: command not found". Normally, I would get some information on what version Maven is and some other things. The strange thing is that when i write "sudo mvn -v" I get what I should:
Apache Maven 2.2.1 (r801777; 2009-08-06 21:16:01+0200)
Java version: 1.6.0_20
Java home: /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home
Default locale: nb_NO, platform encoding: MacRoman
OS name: "mac os x" version: "10.6.4" arch: "x86_64" Family: "mac"
It seems that the command "mvn" is not connected to Maven in a right way.
I just picked up my compute from the genius bar with a new hard drive. When I turned it on and plugged in my external hard drive it gave me two choices of backups to use and they didn't have dates or versions, so I picked what I thought was the most recent. I chose incorrectly and now I have the computer from my freshman year in high school. Everyone says to hold command R at the startup but it isn't working. Perhaps I'm just doing it wrong. I have a regular macbook and am running Lion Version 10.7.3.

I am familiar with CMD M combination to minimize screens. This is not doing the trick. I experience that I have to use this command several times as some programs just want minimize based on one command. It requires that one makes the programs active by clicking the cursor and than use cmd M again.
Is there yet another command that results in a an immediate desktop view.
I used to be able to grab a portion of a web page or a document by pressing command shift 4. That no longer works for me, though command shift 3 does work.I can us the Grab app of course but that's a bit more cumbersome. Am using 10.9.3 on a late 2013 iMac.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince Tiger and even more so with Leopard, I have found the 'Force Quit' command to be a pointless white elephant.
When the spinning beachball hits it tends to make the application unresponsive and then spread to all other apps. Attempting to bring up the force quit function is equally fruitless. Of course, by the time it eventually pops up, the offending application has either quit itself (I'm looking at you Adobe CS4) or has become responsive again (I'm looking at you Safari).

I got an iMac 27inches and I tried to install win7 by bootcamp. So everything goes smooth until it ends the installation. When it resets to start windows its just continue in that cicle. So I turn on my mac, it goes to te windows7 promp "Windows Error Recovery" and when I select one of the options "Safe Mode" - "Start Windows normally" it just resets again. And the worst part is that I can't even boot from CD or from my HD. I tried all the key combination and nothing.
