View 1 RepliesI got an iMac 27inches and I tried to install win7 by bootcamp. So everything goes smooth until it ends the installation. When it resets to start windows its just continue in that cicle. So I turn on my mac, it goes to te windows7 promp "Windows Error Recovery" and when I select one of the options "Safe Mode" - "Start Windows normally" it just resets again. And the worst part is that I can't even boot from CD or from my HD. I tried all the key combination and nothing.

Why is redo command+shift+z and not command+x? When working with a pages document, if I want to redo a few changes, you have to be super careful to hit all 3 keys at the same time or it will type a "z". If this happens then you lose all the stuff you were trying to redo! Even being careful sometimes still doesn't allow it to work right. Any way to change the redo button?

View 1 Replies View RelatedRunning OS X 10.5.8 on a Macbook Pro that's roughly 2 years old (maybe a little more). About a week ago I noticed that I was unable to copy/paste/undo/cut. Thought it was a total command key failure at first but other shortcut functionality is intact (cmd+t/cmd+w etc). So I've isolated the problem to the left cmd key and the bottom row of my keyboard. Separately they work just fine, but they refuse to work together.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am a mac newbie, but experienced linux and windows user. I am trying to restore my mac mini (mid 2011) running mavericks. The process should normally be very simple; press command-R keys while booting to start recovery mode and go from there.
Unfortunately my keyboard is a palm-sized keyboard without command or windows keys. So I am stuck. I have 2 windows laptops that I can use to remote login but I cannot do remote login during boot.
I tried mapping the Command key to Ctrl key inside OS X, but it seems like this only works after reboot.
I tried to use recovery disk assistant as it requires "Option" key, but the assistant does not allow me select the HD, as I guess I do not have a recovery system on the HD.
I tried doing network install, but it requires the install CD, which I don't have. I have an ipad and two iphones if it

View 11 Replies View RelatedI god my MacBook Pro a couple of weeks ago, and I am very satisfied! I noticed that the Maven version is 2.2.0, and I wanted to update to 2.2.1. I tried to looked at some tutorials on how to do this, but something went wrong.
In the Terminal, if I write "mvn -v", I get "-bash: mvn: command not found". Normally, I would get some information on what version Maven is and some other things. The strange thing is that when i write "sudo mvn -v" I get what I should:
Apache Maven 2.2.1 (r801777; 2009-08-06 21:16:01+0200)
Java version: 1.6.0_20
Java home: /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home
Default locale: nb_NO, platform encoding: MacRoman
OS name: "mac os x" version: "10.6.4" arch: "x86_64" Family: "mac"
It seems that the command "mvn" is not connected to Maven in a right way.
I just picked up my compute from the genius bar with a new hard drive. When I turned it on and plugged in my external hard drive it gave me two choices of backups to use and they didn't have dates or versions, so I picked what I thought was the most recent. I chose incorrectly and now I have the computer from my freshman year in high school. Everyone says to hold command R at the startup but it isn't working. Perhaps I'm just doing it wrong. I have a regular macbook and am running Lion Version 10.7.3.

I have a new MBP 13" and it's been amazing so far. I just experienced this odd issue a few hours ago when I went to lower the volume from my keyboard. In doing so, it didn't alter the volume's level, but launched the actions from the keys on top-left side. Most of the keys in the middle don't even work at all. I tried restarting the MacBook and I'm still experiencing the same problem. It seems that all of the keys on the keyboard are just fine, with the exception of the very top row. Any clue as to how I can fix this and get the keys to do what they're supposed to?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am familiar with CMD M combination to minimize screens. This is not doing the trick. I experience that I have to use this command several times as some programs just want minimize based on one command. It requires that one makes the programs active by clicking the cursor and than use cmd M again.
Is there yet another command that results in a an immediate desktop view.
I used to be able to grab a portion of a web page or a document by pressing command shift 4. That no longer works for me, though command shift 3 does work.I can us the Grab app of course but that's a bit more cumbersome. Am using 10.9.3 on a late 2013 iMac.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince Tiger and even more so with Leopard, I have found the 'Force Quit' command to be a pointless white elephant.
When the spinning beachball hits it tends to make the application unresponsive and then spread to all other apps. Attempting to bring up the force quit function is equally fruitless. Of course, by the time it eventually pops up, the offending application has either quit itself (I'm looking at you Adobe CS4) or has become responsive again (I'm looking at you Safari).

So back in May all of a sudden my Delete key stopped working well, I had to press it twice basically to get a response. I also noticed that my tab key and my space key didn't work either, as well as my right arrow and my up arrow. All summer they worked fine, and now that school has started again they don't work well. Sometimes they don't work at all, sometimes space but not delete, sometimes they only work when I press twice, etc.
I brought this up in May and people said its keyboard failure and that I need to back everything up before I can't use my laptop. I disagreed, since if it was laptop failure it wouldn't be just 5 keys. I was right and here I am many months later. I crackedopen my(crap.there.goes.thespace.key.not.kidding 0) and every thing seemed ok. I closed it back up and now I am making this topic. What could be causing my TAB, DELETE, SPACEBAR, RIGHT ARROW, TOP ARROW, to not work, sometimes. Sometimes it works perfect for days/weeks, and then all of a sudden works 50% or not work at........
I successfully migrated from my previous MacBook Air to my brand new one with OSX 10.7.3. using the migration application. Fine, except the Search command does not work, in Finder, Outlook, Word, PPT or any other application. The files are all there, but the search seems to be applied only to very recent file.

Suddenly the 3,e,d and c keys of my Powerbook won't work. They were working fine earlier today, and I didn't drop the machine, spill anything on the keyboard. Any idea of what may be going on and how to fix it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI spilled coffee on my keyboard. Now, some of my keys don't work. Namely, my apostrophe key, the letter "p", my return key, and delete. Also both slashes. And my arrows, save for Mr. Right. My question is this: am I screwed? is there any chance I can restore function to these? I have a nice big bottle of isopropyl alcohol at my disposal and I can pretty much have my way with this thing. It's beyond warranty so, short of blowing it up, I'm not too worried about any minor damage I might do to it. anyway, if anyone can throw out some advice, whether it's "this is how you fix it," or "toss it through a window," I would be endlessly grateful.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running 10.5.1 and Windows Vista Ultimate x64 on my Mac Pro. I just installed Vista, and then just taking a random guess, I decided to insert my leopard disc into the Windows OS, and sure enough, it showed up as "boot camp" and installed a whole bunch of drivers. Is that how it's supposed to be done? I couldn't find another way to get drivers into Windows.
Anyways, the volume keys work, but the eject key doesn't. Is there any way to make it work?
It was working fine before i went out tonight, came back, turned it on and my volume keys wont work, it makes the splodge sound but nothing happens! There is also a little white circle with a line through it (like a warning sign on a street) underneath the volume counter. One place said to plug in a headphone jack and take it out straight away, that seemed to fix the same problem with other people but not me!!
