I am new to my Mac and want to know who to clear the history in my "Today" folder in Finder. To be clear, I don't want to remove the Today folder but just clear the contents of the applications that I have opened.
On a side note, I would also like to know how to set up finder so that the "Today" folder won't show that I have opened anything (rather then having to go back and remove the history after the fact).
I usually use the private browsing feature on safari but sometimes when I google something it shows near the searches how many visits I've made and when, even when Ive used private browsing. how do i cleat this kind of history?
Every time I go on yahoo answers and look up something all my questions pop up. How do I get rid of them? I already went to "history" and clicked "clear history" but it still stays on yahoo answers.
I've just updated safari v5.1.7 and the clear history button does not reset the page. I use Ebay and when you go into an item the title goes to pink and usually clear history resets it to blue. But I've just done un update and now it's not working.
I've lost the 'Touched Today' menu item from Finder. It's a 'smart' folder, I know, but I'm not sure exactly how it was set up. Also, if you're an expert on these 'smart' folders, why do I sometimes find today's items at the bottom of the list in the 'unknown date' section? Is there a set of useful 'smart' folders somewhere?

i tried to see if anyone was able to create something like this and i think that the automator script that i got only created a folder with /todays/ date. what i am hoping for is a script that will /constantly/ update the name of the folder to todays date. the reason i need this is that if i have one of these in my documents folder it allows me to easily see /when/ the last successful backup occurred on my external drives. it is a really nice comfort to see this easily and know quickly that the backup was successful.Â
Is it safe to clear my downloads folder? Basically, it has become very large (~20gb). I want to create some more space because my hard drive is partitioned. Basically, what I'm wondering is, if, for example someone sends me a song. I play the song through itunes. Doesn't the song then get copied into an iTunes folder? Assuming it does, does that mean there is a duplicate file in the downloads folder as in the iTunes folder? Otherwise, do I have to manually go through my downloads folder and decide whats needed and whats not?
I am working on some edits on my MacBook Pro and I need to clear up some space. I wanted to clear out the cache folder but wanted to be sure what to delete and what to keep before I go any further.
I'm not sure if this was asked before but I couldn't find it in a search. I use Safari 4.0.3. When I clear the browser history, the folder library/caches/metadata/safari/history still has a log of the pages I visit. Is there anyway to clear this besides manually. Would clearing this folder change anything on my mac?
I have leopard on my macbook pro and restarted the whole operating system from scratch. Before doing this I copied all my data onto an external. Although my time machine has a lot of information on it, the last time I backed up my computer was a good 20 days ago so I think that is useless. Anyways, I was wondering if there was any way to recover my ical calendars, address book contacts and mail inbox history from my library folder?
Anyway, one of my home folders for a user account has gone missing. when you are logged into the account it belongs to you can navigate to it via finder. However you cannot see the folder via finder from any other account. This account is NOT an admin. I had this problem when I was running tiger and it still remains now that I have leopard. 2Ghz INtel core 2 duo Aluminum iMac.
My activity monitor says I'm suing 122.43 GB of virtual memory. I'm sure that the number is much, much less. But I would still like to reset the virtual memory.
Lol I've never had any tech problems with my Macs, and today at school I used a Windows box. The whole class had to use them (the reason why is not important). Anyway, for the whole hour and a half I didn't do anything because the ****** Winbox failed on me... Even the ICT teacher at the school didn't have a clue... Lol then she said that I'd be better when the school gets Macs
After the flashback malware last week and the update from Apple to get rid of the trojan, Adobe is asking for another update to there software. Is this ok to download or are we asking for more trouble. My computer was affected last week and with the removal tool it was fixed. I just hate the thought of another version. Anyone downloaded this update from adobe?
Since Yosemite upgrade, Calendar highlights today with a small red dot. In the past the whole day was highlighted. Is it still possible to highlight today?
I hope this hasn't been covered elsewhere (I can't find it if it has).My problem is that the history setting although set to " Remove history items after one day " does not. I Have reset Safari 4.0.3 and it still doesn't delete the history. Applecare can't seem to solve the problem either. Please help, although this isn't a major problem it is very annoying. This was happening before SL and I was hoping SL upgrade may have fixed this but it hasn't.
I have a further problem with my "time capsule" - When I go in to the time machine it will only show me what has backed up today - nothing from yesterday at all??
My mac with SL is unable to compress a big 1GB folder... It just stays stuck at the end of the process with no activity anymore in the Activity Monitor.
Can you try to reproduce this ? Just pick a big 1GB folder, right click on it and "Compress"... and post if it's successful or not.
I'm using eclipse and a need to select where the LibreOffice is installed. But the Finder.app don't permitte me to select the LibreOffice.app as a folder.
