View 3 RepliesI know there is the option to turn off the transparency of the Leopard menu bar, but I want it to look just like the Tiger one (see below):
Is there a nice app that does this for you, or am I in for some resource editing?
I notice that the advanced options in the Accounts prefpane include the ability to change an account's short name. Has anyone been brave enough to try this? How did it go?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure why, but there seems to be a void of information regarding changing the menu bar color in Leopard. I've searched here, but seem to find only a single recommendation: MenuShade (which I understand is buggy with Leopard). Most of the other discussion involves changing the transparency of the menu bar, or changing the color of icons in the menu bar.
Two questions:
1) Is there some reason this isn't more commonly discussed? I would think this would be a very common request.
2) How can one change the color of the menu bar?
Been a while since I've been here. I searched and found basically nothing, which really surprised me because I remember seeing this topic discussed way back sometime. But anyways, how do I change my login password on Leopard? I remember that's not the easiest thing to do, apparently.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just installed Snow Leopard, and immediately I noticed that everything was darker. I had to adjust the gamma to get it to look normal, but things seem a little too bright now. Also in Adium, it messed up my fonts. My text is so small while my received messages are normal size, and I can't seem to get my sent message text to be the same size as my received message text. There are other small things too, but it's annoying and I'd like my old configs back, is there any way or do I just need to put up with it?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy dock keeps returning to previous setting. It simply throws out added Applications and changing the order back to how they were before. I deleted the dock.list thing in preferences which made it worse. Now i only have the original Apps in my dock.

does anyone know if there is a application like shapeshifter that changed the appearance of the top menubar?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt's been awhile, I used Leopard back when it first came out and I remember the only way back then was to change the .PNG files... but I don't remember where the location is and I don't have those files anymore. I'm not trying to make it 2D, I'd like to retain the 3D look but with black glass. What's the best solution? Forgive me too, I tried searching but the keyword "dock" is in about 30 million threads.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI accidentally used an old Leopard Dock application to attempt to change my Dock skin, and it screwed everything up. I borrowed another Mac and copied the Dock app from Core Services and replaced mine, but there's a white line across the bottom of the dock still. [URL]. I know I shouldn't have been messing with it in the first place, I knew things had changed between Leopard and Snow Leopard, but I did anyway, and now I don't know what to do.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently running 10.5.8, and I have changed my default icons. I love this feature, and this web page will show you how to do it. [URL:...] I am about to upgrade to Snow Leopard soon, and I am wondering if anyone else knows if it will still work? I quite like my 'glass icons' as my defaults.

Text looks correct on the screen, but a few letters get replaced in the printed copy with the preceding letter, so M sometimes prints as N, or e prints as d! Some M's and e's print correctly, same font, same page. I've rebooted, deleted preferences, restored fonts from Time Machine backup, no change. I've restarted the printer. But if I print to a pdf file, the pdf is correct, and Preview prints the pdf correctly.Â

My laptop won't accept my username (or the old username) since I changed it (I wanted to shorten it). I originally thought it was the password so went through the process of reinstalling the system with the original disk (with apple support help over the phone), but that wasn't the problem. How do I get the computer to recognize my username?

You've probably heard that SL is measuring 1GB as 1000MB, instead of the proper 1024MB.
Is there any way to change this back?
I installed SL on my iMac last week and changed the icon for the applications folder on my dock - no problem. Did the same for my Macbook last night and now the applications folder on both docks keeps disappearing. I use Mobile Me to sync the docks. I've dragged the folder from Finder into the dock and it stays briefly and then disappears.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I recently got a new iMac that has Snow Leopard and I noticed that this is about the second time that my mouse cursor has gotten stuck... not stuck in location, but the image of the cursor.
I'll move over a textbox and then it changes to the I bar cursor, but then I move away and it stays that... I move over a link and it turns into the finger icon, then I move away and it's still a finger.
Still in the beginnings of diagnosing, but I do have two user accounts logged in. The other account only has a Safari window open though, nothing exciting.
I have made about 10 sig files in apple mail. I'm running 10.5.8. How do I change the default sig file so that particular one is used till I want to change it?

I currently have an address range from 192.168.200.1 to 192.168.200.250 (subnet mask 255.255.255.0).......and I need more IP addresses. Â
If I change the subnet mask to 255.255.254.0, and increase the DHCP pool from 192.168.200.1 to 192.168.201.254.....will this work.Â
I have a couple of statically assigned printers, so I am guessing they will need their subnet mask changing as well.

I'd just like to change the Snow Leopard mp3 icon (ugly and dark) back to the nicer, lighter, friendlier icon that was used before my upgrade. It must still be on the system because often when I load a new window with mp3's, the old icon is visible for a second and then changes to the ugly Snow Leopard icon. By the way: if you select an mp3 file in Snow Leopard and select the Info for it, you'll see the previous icon up at the top left of the Info window that opens.

I have been getting these messages below in the list of feedback that Disk Utility generates during a "Repair Disk Permissions" run for at least 3 years now (through several OS updates). I am currently running 10.6.8 for the past several months. Is there an easy/SAFE way to repait this USER issue? I don't know if it is causing me any problems, but obviously it is not what it should be. [code]

my Mac Mini keeps giving me the "name of your computer "Mac mini" is already in use on this network. The name has been changed to "Mac mini (2)" message lately. It keeps going from there. For example, right now it's up to "Mac mini (5)".
