View 1 RepliesI'm not sure why, but there seems to be a void of information regarding changing the menu bar color in Leopard. I've searched here, but seem to find only a single recommendation: MenuShade (which I understand is buggy with Leopard). Most of the other discussion involves changing the transparency of the menu bar, or changing the color of icons in the menu bar.
Two questions:
1) Is there some reason this isn't more commonly discussed? I would think this would be a very common request.
2) How can one change the color of the menu bar?
I was wondering if its possible, and if so, how to change the theme of my mac? The default metallic that the Mac comes with is pretty boring to me, and I was wondering how I would go about changing my theme to a custom made one.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am looking to see if there is a program(s) out there to change OS X desktop theme. Mainly how the tool bar looks/acts.
I want my kids to start using my G4 and they have no concept of where to look for the apps folder or how it works. They are used to Window and Ubuntu.
I like how Ubuntu has programs ot change how the tool bar acts. I was hoping to change the mac a little.
Also off the base of this thread, coming from a Windows and Linux past, is it an issue if my kids just click the red X instead of using the File/quit method to close programs? I see the menu bar still exists when they just hit the X..
I have seen many screenshots (like the one below) of modified menu bars that have probably been made using some application. I like how you can change the WiFi icon to cell bars. And I have no idea how they got links to Macintosh HD, movies and TV shows on the desktop. Does anyone know what app that is?
And on the desktop, I have seen that some people have their iTunes album artwork and the song playing show on their desktops. I have many different commands, like the date and time, running on my desktop using Geektool. But I have never thought that geektool would be able to show the artwork though. Is there another app that lets you have this or is it also geektool?
Anyone know of a program like shapeshifter that works for leopard?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two questions/issues with iDVD. I'm a bit of a beginner when it comes to iDVD but I have checked all over the internet for the answers.
First I am using the soft frame theme and I am using all three drop zones with video filling them. When I play back the dvd in the dvd preview the video plays very choppy. It is almost frame by frame. The effects of the menu are also slow (in fact the whole preview of the dvd seems to be slow).
My second problem is that when adding background music the dvd takes the whole length of the song to loop, and in the short time is takes someone to choose a button the first drop zone is still looping.
about a month or two ago I was trying to change the theme and the software I used had a restore theme but it had a weird glossy thing over the buttons and the close and minimize and change window size buttons where to small so after digging around I found this theme where the buttons where normal but the menubar scroll bar and a few other things are changed still so I uninstalled the software and the theme stayed how can I bring back the original with all the icons the same and all that stuff without losing my files.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was messing around with a lot of different themes in Snow Leopard. I used different ones and I don't think I properly did them right. For instance, I have the menu bar set to one, and then I have the "Close, Minimize, and Expand" buttons set to something different. To get to my question, how do I revert the theme back to the original Snow Leopard theme. I have tried the option in Themepark, but some of the themes still stayed.

Other than opening Displays System Preferences panel, is there a way to change resolution settings on a MacBook Pro? I have a new MBP with a Retina screen and I'd like to be able to more quickly switch display settings.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had shapeshifter for all of about 20 minutes just to mess around with it. So now, i've deleted it, and it has its preference thing stuck on my preference pane.
When i try to right click it and remove it like that, it gives me a message saying an error occured.
When i look in the library folder, it simply isnt there.
Somehow I managed to mess up Shapeshifter's display of the Finder. Now, when I open the Finder window, the colours are the default grey and white instead of my set colours. This happened after I installed the latest version of Quicktime. Is there any way to fix Shapeshifter to make it go back to normal? Is there any way to revert to the previous version of Quicktime?

View 13 Replies View RelatedBeen a while since I've been here. I searched and found basically nothing, which really surprised me because I remember seeing this topic discussed way back sometime. But anyways, how do I change my login password on Leopard? I remember that's not the easiest thing to do, apparently.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just installed Snow Leopard, and immediately I noticed that everything was darker. I had to adjust the gamma to get it to look normal, but things seem a little too bright now. Also in Adium, it messed up my fonts. My text is so small while my received messages are normal size, and I can't seem to get my sent message text to be the same size as my received message text. There are other small things too, but it's annoying and I'd like my old configs back, is there any way or do I just need to put up with it?

Well I've gone through a plethora of threads about the leopard menu bar's translucency being annoying, I have yet to find a way to actually make it MORE transparent, so I figured I'll register here and ask away. I'm currently working under Mac OS X 10.5.5, and am working on creating a vector graphics theme of sorts (akin to BattleZone in the 80's) and ran into a snag. What I want to do is take the menu bar on top of the screen and turn it solid green without tinting the text to match the rest of my desktop's theme. Alternatively, making the bar completely black with green text is another option, if possible.
I've so far used LeoColorBar, Leopaque, and Palette, which all can tint the bar, but not make it a solid green. What I want to know is if I can make the menu bar 100% transparent, but keep the text on it visible, allowing me to use LeoColorBar to effectively create a green menu bar, while using Palette to make the menus opaque when dropped down. Here's where I'm currently at in terms of theme, complete with Battlezone background and vector docks through DragThing. How terminal commands that could work, or claims of my insanity for being "that guy who wants that transparent bar harder to see", drop me a reply.
I have an eMac 1ghz ad recently I installed leopard. It didn't have the clear leopard menu bar so I went to the prefs and Went to where you enable it to be clear. But the option was not there.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIt's been awhile, I used Leopard back when it first came out and I remember the only way back then was to change the .PNG files... but I don't remember where the location is and I don't have those files anymore. I'm not trying to make it 2D, I'd like to retain the 3D look but with black glass. What's the best solution? Forgive me too, I tried searching but the keyword "dock" is in about 30 million threads.

I borrowed another Mac and copied the Dock app from Core Services and replaced mine, but there's a white line across the bottom of the dock still. [URL]. I know I shouldn't have been messing with it in the first place, I knew things had changed between Leopard and Snow Leopard, but I did anyway, and now I don't know what to do.
