My dock keeps returning to previous setting. It simply throws out added Applications and changing the order back to how they were before. I deleted the dock.list thing in preferences which made it worse. Now i only have the original Apps in my dock.

It's been awhile, I used Leopard back when it first came out and I remember the only way back then was to change the .PNG files... but I don't remember where the location is and I don't have those files anymore. I'm not trying to make it 2D, I'd like to retain the 3D look but with black glass. What's the best solution? Forgive me too, I tried searching but the keyword "dock" is in about 30 million threads.

I borrowed another Mac and copied the Dock app from Core Services and replaced mine, but there's a white line across the bottom of the dock still. [URL]. I know I shouldn't have been messing with it in the first place, I knew things had changed between Leopard and Snow Leopard, but I did anyway, and now I don't know what to do.

I'd just like to change the Snow Leopard mp3 icon (ugly and dark) back to the nicer, lighter, friendlier icon that was used before my upgrade. It must still be on the system because often when I load a new window with mp3's, the old icon is visible for a second and then changes to the ugly Snow Leopard icon. By the way: if you select an mp3 file in Snow Leopard and select the Info for it, you'll see the previous icon up at the top left of the Info window that opens.

So, I first started noticing this problem a couple of days ago.
1. My dock doesn't work right. I have it set to auto hide/show. It worked fine up until now. Now for it to show, I have to click where it normally would appear, then I have to click in another window to hide it.
2. My cursor in Firefox, and other applications, doesn't change when hovering over links. It gets damn irritating now, as I'm used to links changing the cursor.
Any ideas what may be causing these problems? I'm running 10.5.5 with all latest software patches on an early '08 Macbook.
Ok, sorry all if this has been asked. I did a search and didn't find an answer that made sense to me.
So basically, I saw the attached image in the January desktop forum, and would love to have the same dock indicator lights. I have the link to download the file(s) for the indicator lights, but after downloading I have no idea how to install them.
My Dock changes size on it's own.
Not a big change, just a little twitch, normally shortly after restart/login.

I went into the dock package contents and change the finder icon and trash empty and trash full. I deleted the cache, killed the dock, even rebooted yet it always defaults back to the original leopard icons. If I go back in to the package contents, the new icons I want to use are in there. Having the same issue with all the icons that need to be changed via package contents. System Preferences, VMWare Fusion, and the ones above.

View 8 Replies View RelatedOn my Macbook, running Leopard, I recently changed all my icons. (applications, folders, default files, etc.) I changed the Finder and Trash icons via System/Library/CoreServices. But the Dock won't recognize that the Finder icon has changed-- it's still showing me the old icon. That's Problem 1.
Then I created a new user account, and discovered that on that account the Dock shows the correct Finder image. But Problem 2: the new account doesn't recognize my default file icons. It flashes them for a second when I save the file, and then reverts back to the regular white default image. (Even though all the .icns files are correct in the application's Resources folder.) I really don't want to download Candybar or anything, since I know it can be done without that.
So i want to change my folder icons back to their original state, I found a set online with the default leopard icons in PNG format and I tried copying and pasting in the get info screen like you normally would but all i get is that white little preview sheet as the image (see attached screenshot)
I then found out all the original icons are saves in the resources folder so i tried those both in ICNS format and converted one to PNG but still no dice.
anyone know a way that I can get my dock back? It isn't hidden or anything. I had Finder crash on me and then my dock disappeared and hasn't come back.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got a white macbook while i am deployed in iraq, and our wireless signal here kinda blows, but at least it works. The only issue i have, seems to be that when i am connected to an access point, my macbook will randomly loose signal, and i end up having to go into the airport preferences, change from DHCP to BOOTp, and it will refresh, then come back on. If it looses signal again, i just change it back to DHCP, and then it works again.

View 17 Replies View RelatedI am trying to change back to the Apple Mail.app 3.5 from Microsoft Entourage and I can't seem to achieve this. I am afraid my Entourage will crash soon because my Database is currently 10.2 GB large. I had to switch 2 years ago from Mail to Entourage, after I lost all my mails because the Mail.app was corrupted. I have had a change of computer although I did migrate my data and was hoping that the mail.app was working better but it is doing strange things like importing folders with no content - although it marks them with the amount of mails located within. It also refuses to import (admittedly) large amounts of mails from Entourage, it doesn't matter if it is just a single folder or several folders. It hoards some old mails in its INBOX which remain there even after I have erased them numerous times. They just keep coming back.
When I use the import option of the mail.app it will not take over all my mails but will save parts of the database or crash when I try to feed it mBox files. I realise my databases are very large but there must be some way to import data from one programme to another. I think somehow my mail.app is broken or it can't handle the huge Entourage database, is there some way I can discover whether this might be the case? I am starting to think I should stick to Entourage because it has been performing faithfully for the past years and I like the appearance more, but because I had database issues under Entourage 2004, I'm afraid my huge database will someday become irreparable. I have a 2.4 Ghz Macbook Pro, 2GB Dram, System 10.5.6, Entourage 2008 and of course the mail.app which I've had to reinstall (with Pacifist) and fix with the new Apple Mail Update that was issued on DEC 23, 2008 (which is supposed to solve stability issues).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed Cleardock [makes the dock transparent] and I tried getting rid of it by going into user/library/preferences and deleting com.apple.dock.plist. However now my dock is still clear but also reflective [see pic]. So then I tried to reinstall cleardock then uninstall it but that didn't work [I did a killall Dock to reset it]. I also read on a forum how to restore my dock to the default but that just gave me back the default application icons. So how can I get my dock back to normal! And if it helps I have time machine back ups from before my dock was like this.
