Since I updated to 10.6.6 I can no longer open my mail application. I get a message stating that "You have version 4.3 (1081/1082) of mail. It can not be used with the Mac OS X Version 10.6.6."
When I was updating my mail was not in the application folder but within a separate folder in the app folder, so it may not have been updated.
Now my question is how do I solve this, I can't work properly without the mail application!
Something's up. I see this every 18 seconds: rpc.lockd: can't contact statd, 100024 RPC: Unknown host In addition, in the Activity Monitor, some kernel task is taking up a lot of memory. I just switchd to Lion in the past 5 days so I wonder if that might play a part.
I am trying to figure a way to notify me when I forget to enter data in specific cells, that need to be filled in. I included a screen shot. What I want it to show is basically fill in the whole row in red or another color. When I forgot to input data. Is there a formula?
I want to start an event in the calendar, on this very day, for after 2 weeks (just giving an example). Also I want to add an notification, that is going to notify me and all the invitees, for example 10 before the very event. How can I do that? I tried to do it, but it only reminds me, not the invitees.
I used boot camp to install windows 7 on my imac 10.6 and after it finishes installing the computer restarts and it'll just bring me back to the installer and when I eject the disc it brings me back up to osx without any way to go to windows. I can view the partition and it says that windows 7 is installed but I dont know how to get the windows 7. Every tutorial I see windows automatically boots up. I might just be missing something really simple, but its frustrating and I want to solve the issue
I am having trouble playing MKV files in Quicktime X. I have Perian installed. When I click on an MKV file to play it it plays fine in Quicktime 7. Is there something I need to do to allow mkv to be played in Quicktime X?
So, for the last week or so I'm been experiencing very strange symptoms, which I think are probably all connected:
1) My MBP (running 10.5.8 bought in August 2008) has from time to time just been turning itself off. Like, I'm just working on something and then it suddenly turns off. 2) My mouse from time to time stops responding to input, sometimes the keyboard does the same thing 3) When I restart after 1 or 2 occurs, it doesn't work. The computer turns on, I get to the screen with the apple on it (there's a chime all of that), then it goes to a plain blue screen and just stays there - the log in box never comes up. 4) In what I think may be related, my computer seems to be running extremely "hot" right now. After just normal use, I'm reaching GPU temperatures as high as 75 degrees according to iStat and CPU temps around 70.
I have used a Macbook Pro from 2007 and have now recently bought the all new 17 inch Macbook Pro.
Something that really annoys me (and my ears) in the new MBP is the crystal clear sound of the Macbook pro speakers when i hit the Volume up or down key on my keyboard. The sound is just too treble and so loud and it gets even worse when i put headphones on and turn down the volume its even more deafening.
Sometimes, while watching a streaming video on my Macbook, the audio begins stuttering and tearing (that's the best way I think to describe it). Pausing and refreshing the tab is useless, and, usually, closing and reopening the browser is equally useless. This problem is not limited to just one steaming site -- issues occur on Youtube, Hulu, Megavideo etc... For about ten minutes (though sometimes longer), the audio across all programs on my Macbook does not work properly until the problem mysteriously solves itself.
my OS has been crashing and making me restart my computer but as of yesterday I started getting messages that my startup disc was almost full and then Itunes deleted all my songs. I managed to get them back, but I'd like to fix this problem....Will buying more hard drive space
it seems that both Time Capsule and Leopard Server both use port 548 for file sharing. So if I have both the server and Time Capsule with File Sharing turned on, any attempt to login will go to the Time Capsule and not to the server.
If I turn File Sharing OFF in Time Capsule, I can than map port 548 to the IP of the server machine and users can properly login into the server again.
Before I go to sleep, I always put my Mac in sleep mode. But about 90% of the time it wakes up about 2 or 3 seconds later, and I have to put it back to sleep again.
Why is this happening and how can I resolve the issue?
I know that there are most likely a lot of these threads around, but I feel like I've tried about everything. This all happened this morning when I was about to open my itunes. It wouldn't open, instead an error popped up saying that it quit unexpectedly.
I launched Mail as I ordinarily do. It opened up, but the header bar was grayed out. Finally I managed to open program via Message/Go To/ Inbox, but no messages appeared in any of my mailboxes (even though I had several still in there from today). Nothing is happening, I even can't quit teh mail program.
opened terminal to remove a uncooperative application (MacFace) and it wouldnt open. I would click it and it would bounce once and then nothing would happen. running 10.4.11
Whenever I open a pdf, adobe starts to open every pdf file on my computer. Does anyone know of any way to stop this? I couldn't really find anything on search. I am running OSX 10.6.3
I a new to mac. I am trying to open a ".config" file but I get this error message: "There is no default application specified to open the document xxxx". Normally, on a Windows, I would just force open it with notepad as it conly contain text. How do I do the same with a Mac?
I have Office 2008 Home and Student installed on my MBP. I recently upgraded to a hosted Exchange solution and they offer a download of Entourage 2008 that will allow Exchange Server interaction. When I loaded that version over top of my install, Entourage will not open. It gives me an error about the identity not being able to open the item.
i've just bought my new mac pro, i'm very happy with it's performance, but there is 1 small little tiny problem, i've ordered my mac pro with wireless card, but my wireless connection is very slow , every web page i open it take minutes to open, before i had an imac, the wireless connenction was super fast, then i've sold it to my dad , but my new mac pro is very slow, mention that it's in the same room and in the same place my imac was.
i've check my bluetooth, i've send and receive some files with my bluetooth to my moblie, it was great, but when i copy files from my brothers computer it was slow and then it stucks , with my imac this never happens.i opened my mac pro to check the wireless card and i found this:- antenna 1 was in the bluetooth card. antenna 2 was in the upper wireless card. antenna 3 was in the lower wireless card.
the weird thing i've found is that my speed connection it goes fast and then is goes slow then fast then slow, it's not stable, another weird thing is that my wireless speed is slow then when i press the wireless bars it goes fast then it returns slow again.this is a really lousy service from apple to make the wireless card as optional , it's really unfair i mean it is the most powerfull mac ever and wireless is not included one more question, is there a difference between the wireless card in the imac and in the mac pro?
I have a new iMac with MS Office for Mac 2011. When I go to finder and click on a document the computer opens all word docs. How do i stop this behavior?
