MacBook Pro :: Rpc.lockd: Can't Contact Statd, 100024 RPC: Unknown Host
Apr 1, 2012
Something's up. I see this every 18 seconds: rpc.lockd: can't contact statd, 100024 RPC: Unknown host In addition, in the Activity Monitor, some kernel task is taking up a lot of memory. I just switchd to Lion in the past 5 days so I wonder if that might play a part.

Got an error on this Macbook, running 10.4.9 I believe, which I hope you guys can give a hand on.
I can't find anything on the Internet about it.
The error is code...
The error repeats. What is statd, and why is it locking up the startup?

I have a contact for my mom which used to be her first name and last name which I later changed to just "Mom" in the first name box after getting an iPhone. At the same time I started syncing with MobileMe and have been having this problem for about 2 years. Every time I send her an email it changes her name from just Mom to Mom and then adds her last name back into the last name field.

I have a MacBook Pro. Recently, I bought a silly little app called Remote Jr. for my iPhone. It allows me to view my desktop through Wi-FI or 3G iPhone internet from anywhere. However, the little app is nothing but trouble. I need to find the host so that the Remote program can locate my computer.

About 4 days ago, MS Entourage stopped receiving email and sending emails. In fact I can't even delete old email because I keep getting a message that Entourage can't contact the Mac mail servers. I have not changed any mail settings or my password. I swithed over to Mac Mail and was able to received and send messages for about a day and now this program just freezes up when I attempt to use it. Since this problem cropped up I have been able to go to icloud to retrieve and send email. I would like to use the email programs on my MacBook. Is Apple having a problem with their mail servers or this an icloud sync problem with my desktop email programs?

Is there a way to run Mac OS X as a virtual machine on a Mac OS X host? My Mac OS X system is configured as a server for my home network. It provides mail, DNS, and DHCP services to other systems on my home network. Occasionally, I need to establish an IPsec VPN connection to work from the Mac OS X system. When I do this mail, DNS, and DHCP are not available. Are there any options aside from purchasing another system to be the server for my home network?

I have a machine running OS X Server v10.4.11, and I'm trying to export some NFS mounts. I have the intended shared directory (a folder called NetBackups on a disk called xRAID L) added in Workgroup Manager, with access set to "World", but if I issue the command to another OSX machine (IP has been replaced with 0s) "sudo mount -t nfs 000.000.000.000:/Volumes/xRAID L/NetBackups test", I get an access denied error.

I know a lot of things that have to do with computers but they are very general things. When it comes to a computer crashing, I have no idea how to find out why it happens. My late '08 Unibody MacBook has been crashing on the frequency of 2-3 times a day or so and is very frustrating! I have no idea why it's doing it, but i did copy the thing I get when it restarts. Here is the log for the last 3 times it has crashed

I own a brand new Macbook Pro (Retina, 13", mid 2014, 256 GB SSD) with OS X Yosemite. When at home, I have noticed that an unknown smartphone (seemingly a Nexus 4) sometimes connects to my Bluetooth - without me ever having given it permission to do so! (The Bluetooth icon on my menu bar tells me that the phone is connected.)Â Â
As you can imagine, the thought of other people getting access to my computer, with my computer itself carelessly accepting, worries me quite a bit. Of course I can temporarily eliminate the problem by turning off Bluetooth, but how do I prevent this phone - or any unknown bluetooth device - from connecting to Bluetooth without permission?Â
