MacBook Pro :: Acrobat 8 - Open Pdf - Adobe Starts To Open Every Pdf File On Computer
Apr 1, 2010
Whenever I open a pdf, adobe starts to open every pdf file on my computer. Does anyone know of any way to stop this? I couldn't really find anything on search. I am running OSX 10.6.3
Every time I open a Adobe Acrobat PDF document I get an endless spinning wheel. I force quit Acrobat, and reopen it, to no avail, the same happens again. Once in a while it works.
When I try to open an adobe file online my internet browser shuts down, and displays an error message stating unexpected error adobe cool type plug in. I'm not sure what they are referring to. I have tried to reinstall adobe with no luck.
I have set up the printer connected directly to my imac to be shared. I can see it and add it to my macbook and files print across the network from both Word and Firefox. However pdf files open in acrobat will not print from the macbook.
Tried many searches now but so far I have had no solutions.
Cannot open mail attachments from acrobat 7 with Lion? closing loan, sent me documents - could not open? Why would Apple sell lion when incompatibility with third party software of sender of mail to me?
At the moment I have removed Acrobat Reader 10.3.1 because it conflicts with Safari. Preview is a perfectly fine pdf reader (and with lots of very nice features) but I don't see how I can make Preview open a pdf from a web page until it has been downloaded to file. And I have found at least one site that will not download to file before opening.
Is there a way to stop PDF's from opening inside of Safari? I figure there is some type of solution to this but I can't be bothered to figure it out myself as I have wasted too much too much time on it already.
When opening a PDF in Acrobat x Pro the programme crashes, ever since I did a software update at the end of March 2012.I have also been having problems with emailing PDFs, with emails disappearing or getting corrupted.Seems worse if I have Firefox open at the same time.
My unibody macbook that is about 3 months old is acting really weird. When i open 3 or more windows of safari and itunes it starts to lock up and act slugishly. When i open activity monitor it says is still has about 800mb of memory open. It is the base model with all stock components.
I recently replaced my hard drive and still have the old one with all my Adobe applications. Both hard drives have the same OS and the applications worked on the old one until I replaced it.
I tried to reinstall the Adobe applications and before I can I get the message:
"Adobe Illustrator 13.0.0 [k] (Universal) cannot be opened because of a problem."
without getting the option of installing an update. I also tried to copy the programs from the Old to the New HD with no luck
I have iMac 10.6.8. OSX SnowLeopard. Downloaded Adobe 11 to be able to access transcripts. Successful install of Adobe achieved. Trying to open a PDF document that is sitting in my download file with transcripts and the screen keeps going back to Adobe advertisement telling me to download Adobe. I enabled plug ins. How do I open the PDF files ?
My software update will open and the progress bar starts at about 10% and never moves. I read other posts saying it was downloading update and to give it time... I have a decently fast connection and left it running for almost 24 hours and it never budged. Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong or how to fix it. If no one has any ideas, I will take it to Genius Bar, but thats a long drive for me, so I would prefer to figure it out on here!
I decided to fit a 4th bigger hard drive in my g4 1.25 dual ghz. Installed it pressed the power button and it lit up but nothing else happened, i opened the case slightly and it starts up? Close the case and it shuts off.
Every time I open iPhoto 09 it starts doing a scan of all my pics for Faces and this is taking up to 300 minutes!! It has already completed this scan twice - why does it keep doing it?
I just "upgraded" yesterday from a Power Mac G4 to a 17" MacPro. Among other adjustment problems, I can't open PDF files. The message I get is "You can't open the application Adobe Reader because it is not supported on this kind of Mac."
I've tried downloading the latest version of Adoobe Reader, an although it seems to download, I can't find it.
I have just updated my Adobe Reader and now I can't download and open pdf files anymore.
I tried going through the preferences in Reader, but it says that the setting is tied in with 'security administration' settings on Mac OS X.
I have not actually changed anything in the settings so am assuming that this is something to do with the most recent update to either Adobe Reader or OS X security.
I updated Adobe Flash on my Mac and now my solitaire app won't open. Message just says 'unable to open' -600. I tried to reinstall Full Deck Solitaire, but the app store says it is already installed, so I can't do it that way.
I seam to get zero response from apple ( been to the store phone help center) about using adobe acrobat on a Mac. Any body out their know anything about adobe acrobat on a Mac/IMac with OS X 10.7.3 NOT READER but the full system.
Flash has plenty of enemies and obstacles, but it also enjoys wide deployment and familiarity. Two areas where Flash can offer real value is in displaying and packaging video on the web, and in serving as a Java replacement for developing applets. Here's a look at how Adobe is working to defend its strengths in the face of competition, and how its efforts to open the Flash specification in the Open Screen Project play into these efforts.
On my now-sold WhiteBook, and on my base 15" Unibody, Contribute CS4 beachballs on me as soon as it gets to the "welcome" screen with the purple header, and I have to force quit.
For some reason, every time I download a pdf file, my computer has started trying to open it with colorsync utility. I select the file, go to file, get info and it says open with "none". I switch it to preview and it will open. But when I try to change all for similar documents I get the following messsage:An error occurred while changing the application that opens "file name" because not enough information is available. Do you want to open "file name" with Preview? Then it gives me a choice of cancel, don't update or update.
When I was using Leopard and I hit "Print" I'd click the Preview button on the bottom left and Apple's "Preview.app" would open the document to be printed (with a Cancel & Print button at the bottom of the dialog box). Now in Snow Leopard, when I choose to see the finished product before I print, I click on "Preview" and Adobe Acrobat opens the item I want to print (which does not have a Cancel or Print button available).800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, Mac OS X (10.6.1)
