Oct 23, 2010i noticed that while in my harddrive and whichever programs when i go to save a program desktop is not an option. what happened to it? how do i get it back?

Feb 21, 2012I want to keep my school files on desktop two so they are all in the same place, and use desktop one as a place to perhaps save photos or other files not school related. When I swipe between desktops, the school files move between the desktops as I swipe but I want to keep them on one desktop all the time.

OS X :: Option To Save Current Websites?
Apr 10, 2010While I like the Top Sites feature in Safari, does anyone else wish that Safari would allow you to quit, with an option to save all the current websites that you are currently on, just like Firefox allows you to. Top sites is a cool feature, but it doesn't save the particular site in the form you left it. It basically just opens that page by refreshing it to its current form. I realize that you can save a page in web archive, but it would be a cool feature that Safari could add in a future update.

Jul 2, 2012So any discussion of why Apple would remove the most common function of all word processors in the world, is not permitted. Let's be NICE then.... this is a common fuction that has been removed and it is costing my company lost time in productivity. We can't find files, we can't sort through "duplicates" and "versions". Common practicies our employees have used on all computers are now not compatible with three of our office systems. We upgrade to Lion 10.7.4 to get icloud for phones and ipads, and lose productivity in our office due to lost functions in a word processor. Apparently Apple doesn't want us to think for ourselves. Is there as way to restore this common function to Pages???

Dec 29, 2009When I use Firefox, I automatically get a "do you want to save" message when I close down so when I restart FF, I'm back with my same tabs, etc. Never happens with Safari. I even input ID's at websites which aren't held the next time around. Can I get Safari to act like FF when it comes to saving tabs, site Id's, and such.

IMac :: Best Option For Home Network With Desktop?
Mar 2, 2010We have a 13" regular aluminum macbook. We have 2 apple TVs, 24,000 songs, 10 gigs of pictures and a ton of video. We just bought a nice Cannon HD video camera and my wife snaps photographs with her Nikon SLR on every whim. We use an USB HDD to store all the songs and video, which must be plugged in all the time. This laptop is extremely taxed and it is time add another mac.
1. What would be the best option?
2. Can macs talk to each other, i.e. share files, picture, etc.? Can the macs look as exactly the same and being able to access the files in the same place? I don't want to move my wife's cheese.
3. Do mice work like the trackpad? We love the trackpad.
It would be nice to have a faster mac to edit photographs and video. We have yet to upload video from our new camera because via USB it take forever.
Software :: Opening Files In The Desktop Via Open With Option?
Jun 13, 2010I want to add a file to the Desktop, and I want to open it with a specific text editor (emacs) whenever I click on it. So far, I made that file, copied it into the Desktop directory, and I tried to set the application which opens it via a right-click "Open-with" menu item. But when I try to select executable for that file (again, emacs), that application is greyed out and I can't set that application to open it.
So, how can I do it. When I click on the file, I want a window to be opened with emacs running and editing that file.

I realize Mission Control provides several desktop views. Feb 25, 2009I recently used Migration Assistant to move my desktop computer's files to my MacBook Pro. All is well, besides the fact that I now have three users on my MacBook Pro ; my original account, my transferred account, and a test account (but that's not the issue). I cannot save files to my desktop anymore, in the account that was migrated over from my desktop to my Macbook. I get an error that says the following: /Users/Desktop/(filename) could not be saved, because you do cannot change the contents of that folder. Change folder properties and try again, or try saving in a different location.
