While I like the Top Sites feature in Safari, does anyone else wish that Safari would allow you to quit, with an option to save all the current websites that you are currently on, just like Firefox allows you to. Top sites is a cool feature, but it doesn't save the particular site in the form you left it. It basically just opens that page by refreshing it to its current form. I realize that you can save a page in web archive, but it would be a cool feature that Safari could add in a future update.
I'm sure there used to be an option to only allow cookies from websites I visit in earlier versions of Safari so my question is have Apple removed some very useful functionality from Safari or have they just hidden somewhere else?

I use certain websites wherein I have to continuously refresh every 2-3 minutes. It sometimes get really irritating. I am using a mac, snow leapord generally use safari. Can anyone tell me how I can put some settings wherein my webpage itself refreshes every 2-3 minutes. Or any other browser I need to download.
I have an automator script I made myself that I use constantly. When I run the script one of the steps takes a screenshot and saves it as a PNG file. When I run the script again, it replaces the old PNG file with a new one. I would really like it to save the PNG file so that file name begins with the current date at the beginning of the name. Meaning the PNG file would be named something like "6/23/10 screenshot". Is this possible?
I'd be almost as happy if I could at least get it to simply make a new PNG with any random filename just so long as it doesn't overwrite the old version. That way I could simply look at the date created column in the finder and get the same info.
You know when you log into different sites with your passcode and the window pops up to read "Would you like to save this password? How safe it that? I always resist putting in the info for fear that one day it could be stolen. I guess the real test is it safe enough to put your banking, or credit card passcode?
I am unable to now download and save a PDF file from a website.I get either a blank window when I click on the PDF file link, or a message during the attempt to save that reads "The document “filename.pdf” could not be exported as filename.pdf."I am also unable to print the file from a website or save as a PDF.This problem is a recent development, occurring in both OS X 10.7.3 and 10.7.4 on my MacBook. It occurs in both Safari 5.1.6 and Firefox 4.0.1. Since it occurs on more than one browser, I'm pointing towards the OS. I use Adobe Reader 10.1.3.The problem does not occur on my MacBook Pro using OS X 10.6.8, using an older version of Safari.
I just updated from X 10.7.3 to 10.7.4 but with no results.I uninstalled Reader and reinstalled. Same results.Reader opens other PDF files on my hard drive with no difficulty.
In mid august i received an update notice to update my macbook pro, i updated to safari 7.0.6...since then when i scan on my photsmart D110, my scanned photos do not transfer to iphoto. I am receiving a message about files be not readable.

So any discussion of why Apple would remove the most common function of all word processors in the world, is not permitted. Let's be NICE then.... this is a common fuction that has been removed and it is costing my company lost time in productivity. We can't find files, we can't sort through "duplicates" and "versions". Common practicies our employees have used on all computers are now not compatible with three of our office systems. We upgrade to Lion 10.7.4 to get icloud for phones and ipads, and lose productivity in our office due to lost functions in a word processor. Apparently Apple doesn't want us to think for ourselves. Is there as way to restore this common function to Pages???
When I use Firefox, I automatically get a "do you want to save" message when I close down so when I restart FF, I'm back with my same tabs, etc. Never happens with Safari. I even input ID's at websites which aren't held the next time around. Can I get Safari to act like FF when it comes to saving tabs, site Id's, and such.
I have scanned in a document but cannot find any option to save it as a document or insert it ,move it, cut and paste or anything .It is there on my screen and I have previewed it but can't do anything with it .What am I missing ?
I cannot save a document in Word or Word-compatible form. The only options I am given in File is "Save a Version," which does not provide for saving in Word. How do I do this?
I'm getting along well with imovie, I'm trying to make some simple videos for my massage business that I am publishing on YouTube. I have a number of slides with music timed just right at the beginning and the end, and would like to have some kind of template that I could use repeatedly or some kind of "save as" option so that I don't have to recreate it every time I make another 2 min. video. There's got to be a way to do this, yes? If you want to see what I mean, my YouTube channel is alteredstates42.
Figured it would be a little lighter to have a thread that shows that Apple's computer CAN and DO work occasionally....Here's my uptime on my i7! It wants me to reboot for Safari update, but I refuse. As of 8:42am PST, March 16, 2010:I guess currently I have the longest uptime of anyone in this thread!
After clicking System Preference how do I get SCAN option to appear so documents can be scanned? Currently only the Print option is visible and having no problems with printing. Printer is a HP Laser Jet 300.
When I right click to save a picture online, it doesn't give me the opportunity to save something as a JPEG. I instead have to save it as a preview and then export it to JPEG. This seems like something relatively new.
After the security update I can no longer save or save as in Adobe Illustrator. The program has become useless. I tried the Rosetta Fix to no avail. How can I fix this?
If I do not use Time Machine, and open a new document in Pages, and type for ten minutes, and close the document, and click "Don't save" by mistake, is there any Auto Save or Versions of that document or just 100% out of luck? url...but I don't get any clear yes or no from it.
I have been unable to save or save as in any of the programs, when I try and save which ever application I am in, crashes. I have not had this issue happen before. I have googled it and I get results relating to print spooling ( on pc). I would like to know how I can set print spooling on macs.
Since upgrading to Lion, I can't save changes or even save new documents in Pages on my laptop. When I try to save, I get the dialog box: "The document “Untitled 2” could not be saved as “Untitled 2”. Permission denied" I can't find anything in Pages preferences or in the System preferences where this setting can be changed if it is a setting.
When trying to Save a document, I am presented with the Save As dialog. The file name has a serial number added to the old file name and the default destination is the Documents file. This happens whether I have tried to save using Command-S or using the Save option in the File menu. This started after I upgraded to Mavericks.
I ran my usual check on the mac drive via "Verify Disk" option. It came up with "needs repair"...etc., and told me to repair it. I did a command r during boot so I could do a repair, and the software told me "your mac drive seems to be ok"??? Some kind of glitch, or need I worry about it at all?

I encoded a bunch of anamorphic h264 videos, all done with the same settings and software, and in Quicktime's inspector, some show as "current size: 640 x 480" and others say "current size: 640 x 480 (actual)". Although they all display CORRECTLY, I am worried something went wrong with the PAR on encoding or when setting the current size in Subler (to get comptibility with older devices). What does the "actual" part really mean?
I have a late 2009 i7 and would like to add a 2.5 SSD and retain the current 1TB HD. Is this possible? I don't want to replace the DVD. I have read I would need to short the temperature sensor. Could someone tell me what cable is required? Also do I need a special mount for the OEM HD(3.5?) + SSD? Also another option, have SSD 2.5 and regular HD 2.5 to replace the standard 3.5" OEM HD. I read the logic board only have one SATA port but would like to know if it is possible to use a cable that fits both? Would this affect performance?
