I know there have been lots of questions about no sound on my mac book pro. I have the same issue, I have tried updating all my software, checked the input and out for sound and still no luck.

I have a MacBook with the internal webcam/microphone, and had been using it for video chat recently. In the last week or so, the people with whom I'm chatting can no longer hear me. The video is fine on both ends, and I can hear them, but they can't hear me. I've gone to System Preferences > Sound > Input. Internal Microphone is selected, and from testing it, it appears to be fine. I've tried both Skype and GMail chat, so I don't think it's a software issue.

Sound gets through the headphones great but, looking at Input Sound in the Sys Pref, the Line In device does not pick up any sound when I speak into the mic. If I switch it back to the Built-In Internal Microphone device it picks up my voice fine. In the Audio MIDI Setup, the Built-in Input device is selected as the device to be used for sound input.There is a switch on my headset to mute or unmute the mic and I've tried it in both positions. There is a volume dial on my headset (presumably for the headphones) and I've fiddled with that too. I've moved the Input volume for the Line In Audio Line-in port device all the way up and still it hasn't picked up a thing. I have a Mac os x Lion on a Macbook Pro and using a 3.5 mm mini-jack headset with two cables, one for the headphones and one for the microphone.

I can record the input sound using Amadeus and play through gives me sound output. When not using Amadeus although input is set to line in and output to internal speakers no sound comes out. There appears to be some internal disconnection between input and output.

My external mike (Samson C01U, USB connection) isn't working; there's no input sound coming through. I'm certain it's not a hardware problem with the mike On preferences > sound, there's no sign of any input (with input volume level turned right up). Trying to record on Camtasia / Audacity / Quicktime also isn't giving any input.

Just today I have installed an application which was to do with sound switching , called "soundflower" once iv installed and run it there was an option "create multiple sound switch" did chose and start to creating a multiple, as soon as it started my sound card panel display as "no sound card founded" and my sound icon on the top bar turned to light gray.
Double click on that and when it opens you will see your hard drive (usually Macintosh HD) on the left. Highlight your hard drive and click on Verify Disk on the far right. If that is OK click on Repair Permissions on the left. If Verify Disk is not OK try to Repair. If Repair is successful then Repair Permissions if it is not successful let me know. But problem still remains.

I just got this new iMac that I got used and the sound on the computer does not seem to be working, I have tried doing what the computer tells me and going into System Preferences and selecting the sound option, but the sound seems to have been permanently disabled and shows that there are no output or input devices available, when clearly the monitor has speakers. whats more, is that the volume icon does not show up in the menu bar even when I select that I want it in the menu bar.

I was in Audio MIDI Setup and I clicked one of the checkboxes to add a device to something or something like that and all the devices vanished from the list and sound stopped working. After closing Audio MIDI Setup I am unable to open it again, even after restarting and getting all the updates. Skype now freezes and doesn't load. Sound preferences also have trouble and freeze up if I try to load them. I would really like to have sound from my computer again!

Somewhat new to Mac now. In the Energy Saving settings should I have the 'put hd to sleep' button checked or unchecked? I know with it checked preserves power, but I've read that its bad to do, just wondering if I can get some experts to tell me what I should do.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have no administrator accounts on my imac! After upgrading to leopard, everything changed to standard accounts, even my root user. I tried to do what the apple website said, and change passwords and check off the "allow user to administer" box, but when i log out of root user and back into my main account, the box is not checked off. Nor when logged in as the root user will it let me to lock the settings to make sure it goes through.

on my mac mini i have 833 contacts, I am syncing with iCloud, but icloud is only showing 750 contacts.Â
I have checked my mac mini for a group that says 'on my mac' and i don't have one, it's not showing in my group list which means that theres no contacts in there.Â
Under the iCloud group on my mac mini, when i click 'All contacts' the missing contacts are in there. (these include my boyfriend and my dad!) yet these contacts are not on icloud.com, my iphone or ipad...Â
I seem to have baffled iCloud support and am still waiting for a resolution
Is there some way they may be in an 'on my mac' account and not showing somehow? but then i dont understand how they'd appear under all contacts in the icloud account.Â
What exactly are Documents? Some things I write as word processing appear there, but not all. Many go to folder I designate, e.g. journal or directions. I have an iPhone 4S. There are some songs that I purchased through iTunes that are not downloading to my phone. The songs are listed in iTunes under both "Music" and "Purchased." The songs are checked. On my iPhone, under SUMMARY, I have checked "sync only checked songs and videos," and under MUSIC I have checked "entire music library."Â
The phone and computer are both authorized to the same iTunes account. The weird thing is that, for most of the missing albums, the first song of the purchased album has downloaded, but the rest are not. Â

Is there a way to keep certain checked songs from playing when in shuffle mode? I mean, besides creating a new playlist with everything BUT the 20 or so songs I have for my daughter.

I noticed that something was running in the background when I . I checked activity monitor to see what was running and saw that a process named "Find" user name "Nobody" was running. It disappeared before I could inspect it. Does anybody know what process this is and what application may be running it? I'm now paranoid!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI own a 17" g5 imac and today I was just browsing on Firefox and all of a sudden the screen became checkered with thin pink and white lines. It is most noticeable on the menu bar and anything that is grey or white in color. It is not checkered on the blue background behind my desktop photo. I have an external monitor plugged in as well and the same thing is happening to that monitor.

I have two printers connected to my iMac (10.7.3) and I am trying to enable printer sharing for my MacBook Air to utilize the iMac's printers. On the iMac, I go to System Prefrences > Sharing and check Printer Sharing and I ensure that both printers are being shared. Everything is checked, but the second I close the System Prefrences window, the printer sharing stops working. I go back into System Prefrences and the Printer Sharing box is unchecked.
