OS X :: No Administrator Account - Box Not Checked Off After Log Out

Jul 23, 2010

I have no administrator accounts on my imac! After upgrading to leopard, everything changed to standard accounts, even my root user. I tried to do what the apple website said, and change passwords and check off the "allow user to administer" box, but when i log out of root user and back into my main account, the box is not checked off. Nor when logged in as the root user will it let me to lock the settings to make sure it goes through.

OS X :: Lost Administrator Account / Unable To Change Account Back

Jun 12, 2008

We had a HDD fail on one of our office Mac laptops (a power pc G4). Apple repaired it and I restored all files etc from a backup. I was the administrator during the restore. Before I could get back, the user changed that account to a standard account and changed the name. Now there is no way to change the account back, because there is no admin to authenticate the change. Anything I can do? I am not an advanced computer/Mac person.

Software :: Unable To Add New Accounts / Asked Password Every Time Checked Hotmail Account

Sep 21, 2010

Started with issues of my accounts wanting a password every time it checked my hotmail accounts.I could fix them a few weeks ago by deleting the account and adding a new one (same one really).thought I would do that yesterday. deleted my hotmail account.clicked the + button/tab to add a new account- NOTHING happens. zero/nada etc.so I went to file and highlighted add a accountsame thing nothing happens.so dumb me, I went into my preferences and deleted the (should not have emptied the trash) mail preferences thinking it would help.

same thing can't add accounts only delete. only now I have no accounts.rebuilt preferences, deleted caches, rebuilt again, restarted etc.any ideas or help here.don't want to go back to entourage (quit that many years ago).

MacBook Pro :: Creating New Administrator Account

Feb 8, 2010

I'm about to buy a used MBP unibody 13" and no... its not stolen, seller has receipts for MBP and Applecare. Its about a year old. So I'm just wondering how difficult it is to delete his admin account and make a new one? I know I could just add an account, but that's goofy. The machine only has iWorks and iLife installed and has been upgraded to Snow Leopard. Is this the same as a PC... reformat the HDD and reinstall the OS and two apps or is there a simpler route? Will the SL CD from my iMac 24 work with the MBP? Is the other alternative to bring it to an Apple store and have them reconfigure? That's a ride+ and how much will they charge for that? BTW, are there "older" spec unibody MBP's? This one was purchased early in 2009, just wondered if there were different graphics in different releases? This one has the 2.53G procesor, 250G HDD, and 4 Megs or RAM.

OS X :: Can't Change Standard Account To Administrator

May 16, 2010

I just restored my 13" Macbook Pro from a Time Machine Backup that was created on a 15" Macbook Pro via Migration Assistant, and I have been experiencing some weird problems. The weirdest thing is that I cannot change my account from Standard to Administrator, even if I am logged into the root account. When I authenticate and click on the check box that says "Allow User to Administer This Computer", the box goes blank again and a box shows up telling me a restart is needed.

OS X Mavericks :: Administrator Account Unavailable

Jun 24, 2014

Two days ago when I woke up and open my MacBook Pro (OS Maverick), I started with a strange windows (than we can get with cmd+r). My hard drive was broken so I followed the proposed steps. I made a backup with TimeMachine. I lost a lot of data 'cause I wasn't able to go back on the Finder and save the things I need. So, I lost important things... Well, after Time Machine backup, I had few more troubles. Now, I can't use a lot of my software. I try to update everything, BUT my user profil isn't administrator anymore.

OS X :: Disable Screensaver Password - Using Administrator Account

Jan 6, 2010

I am a network administrator and an mac user. No one else is my IT dept knows anything about macs so I have been given the responsibility of managing our 5 or so Mac's in the company. I've been able to figure everything out fine, but I have one user that insists on turning on the screensaver password on his computer. Now on windows, you can unlock a computer using an administrator account but on mac this is not the case. I want to disable the option for the screensaver password but I do not know how. The user is a local administrator on the computer because that is needed for a few things but he is making it impossible for me to work on his computer because of the password. Also, I've tried telling him not to enable it but he seems to not care what I think.

OS X :: Remote Access My Lost Laptop If The Administrator Account Has Been Deleted?

Feb 1, 2010

I'm not too computer savvy let alone MAC savvy.

I was wondering if I would be able to remote access my lost laptop if the administrator account has been deleted. Being absent minded I left my bag at the bus station and I figure who ever has found it is keeping it by now since I haven't gotten a phone call yet and it's been over a week.

ICloud :: Some Contacts Not Syncing - Have Checked 'on My Mac'

Apr 16, 2012

I have a mac mini, a macbook, iphone and ipad. I upgraded from mobileme to icloud recently.

on my mac mini i have 833 contacts, I am syncing with iCloud, but icloud is only showing 750 contacts.

I have checked my mac mini for a group that says 'on my mac' and i don't have one, it's not showing in my group list which means that theres no contacts in there.

Under the iCloud group on my mac mini, when i click 'All contacts' the missing contacts are in there. (these include my boyfriend and my dad!) yet these contacts are not on icloud.com, my iphone or ipad...

I seem to have baffled iCloud support and am still waiting for a resolution

Is there some way they may be in an 'on my mac' account and not showing somehow? but then i dont understand how they'd appear under all contacts in the icloud account.

ITunes :: Checked Songs Not Syncing To Iphone?

May 10, 2012

I have an iPhone 4S.  There are some songs that I purchased through iTunes that are not downloading to my phone.  The songs are listed in iTunes under both "Music" and "Purchased."  The songs are checked.  On my iPhone, under SUMMARY, I have checked "sync only checked songs and videos," and under MUSIC I have checked "entire music library."

The phone and computer are both authorized to the same iTunes account. The weird thing is that, for most of the missing albums, the first song of the purchased album has downloaded, but the rest are not.
