first time i have ever come across. I have a Intel 2 MacBook Pro. There is no sound coming from the speakers even though it is not muted and the vol is turned to the max. There is sound coming if i plug headphones in the jack. Just noticed that there is a red light coming from where the headphone jack is...anyone have any idea how i can get my speakers to work again?

I recently purchased a Macbook Pro 15" Unibody and my titanium steel watch is resting against the wrist rest. Which is the most reliable and affordable option to protect it from scratches on the wrist rest and the top and bottom of it's body.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI can't get it to turn on even if it did the screen would be messed up. It had an SSD rev C will that work in a base refurb rev b or does it look like the rev D will support the same 1.8 hard drive? I can hold out a while on a G3 but I hope they update soon! It's ironic that my MBA is what I use to edit video and game to an extent so I really don't want to go back to 1.6ghz unless I have to.

Has anyone found a keyboard protector that works with the new 13" MacBook Air? I know that Marware makes them for the earlier version, but I don't know if it will work with the newer MacBook Airs.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've scoured the web to find if anyone else has this brown substance on their unibody MacBook laptop charger, to no avail. It's inside the very thin crevices of the L-shaped protrusions around which you tie the power cord that connects to the MacBook.Anyone here has any ideas about what this substance may be? Is it simply lubrication or leakage from the power unit?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering because my current MacBook is cracking left right and centre and I haven't even done anything to it. Cracks on the palm rest, the sides, the bottom, the bezel and now even the hinge, pretty bad. I am looking for a new laptop for various other reasons and I was going to get the 13" pro because I really don't like the white MacBooks anymore, but I'm really strapped for cash and I was wondering if I should maybe get the white unibody, only problem is I would hate to buy it and then have it crack just like this one has.

I was wondering if having this single video chip would affect my ability to run higher resolutions, and multiple monitors. As I recall, you can have two external monitors plus the 15" LCD.

We have about 10 PowerBook G3/400 computers in our school running OS 9.2.2. They haven't been used in a couple of years and now none of them will boot up. No power. I checked Apple's website and found an article called Power Management Unit. It says to hit the reset button, wait 5 seconds and then hit the power button, but it didn't work for any of them. Does anyone have any ideas?
View 3 Replies View RelatedOk so according to my unit converter ?10 sterling is $665.579 US$ . Which would be wonderful! But its highly irritating. After playing round with it I have discovered that the problem is the lists are in a different order the left list starts with A$ and the right list starts with US$. I can get around this by selecting the currency underneath the required on on the left hand list (EG if i want sterling (?) on the left hand side I select Brunei Dollar instead) This is annoying though. So does anybody know ow to help me?
I apologise for how complicated this post may seem but its hard to put it any simpler.
My friend's laptop just broke completely beyond repair (trust me this cannot be fixed without sending it out to hp, who wont fix it either). But any way, his mom and him have come to the conclusion that they are done with PC's, and are making the smart move, and going to Mac. Now, they cant afford an iMac, or a Macbook, so I suggested a Mac Mini. They only have a Samsung monitor for their HP, but I just want to know if a Mac Mini can connect to a Non-Apple Display. Yes I know they need adapters which I will help pick out for them when they go to buy it. I think I have heard it can connect to Non-Apple Displays, but I'm not 100% sure.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi got a new macbook pro for college (i'll update my signature with the specs), and i'm target-disk-moding the two computers i've mainly used through the years. the first intel imac, that had my music essays and old recordings on, and a macbook i used for actual studio recordings with logic. i came across a ton of plugins on the old macbook (audio units of course), and i'm wondering if there's any magic directory where those AU's went. i've looked in ~/library and the user libraries (including application support) to no avail. i was never a fan of time machine restores, because i always accumulate stuff, over the years, that i never use and should be deleted. he bottom line/question is: where are installed audio units stored, so i can move them from computer to computer?

View 13 Replies View RelatedThis is something I've been wondering for a long time. I seem to have a lot of screen-related issues with the Pros that I sit in front of in the main. Brightness controls going haywire displays not turning on, etc. There is also the odd attached USB device lockup, but I'd been putting this down to the devices themselves and the occasional, app-level instability of Leopard. More recently though, I've been seeing a pattern that's leading me to suspect the Pro's more than the peripherals. Is there a documented case of possible USB hub connection issues in (fully patched) 2008 Pros? The most frequent issue is monitors not behaving as expected when the system is booted until the monitors themselves are unplugged from power. There are also less frequent but present problems where iPods lock up, keyboards stop working, etc. I can't really abstract the problem down to an OS issue or a hardware issue, but the need for me to unplug the monitors seems to indicate that there is some sort of USB initialisation issue - as with the other minor problems I experience with other monitor-connected USB peripherals. Since I only use multimonitor environments as far as my Pros are concerned, all USB connections are usually made from the backs of the screens. So the big question is is this a screen USB hub fault, or a main-unit intermittent fault? All of the monitors I'm using have been to Applecare for one reason or another, although I'm not sure if they check everything in these repairs.
Can anyone else shed more light on this issue? It's pretty hard to replicate reliably and it's not been something I can go to Apple with any degree of certainty, yet the little minihoops I have with this problem (and oh so many other Apple issues, but that's by the by) irritate me immensely in comparison to my rock-solid, near-zero-such-issue, non-Apple environments which I also use daily.
I have just started to have problems every time I go to sync my wifes and my IPhones, IPads and IPods. I-Tunes recognizes the units, begins to sync and shuts down ITunes every time I try and sync. I have reset our phones and have all the most current versions of ITunes and my accessories OS.

I was just handed down an old imac g3 400mhz desktop that doesn't power at all. When hitting the power button on the unit or keyboard, the units screen makes a noise. I went to go about and read a few problems before, replaced the battery and even tried a new power cord. Any Ideas?
