I have just started to have problems every time I go to sync my wifes and my IPhones, IPads and IPods. I-Tunes recognizes the units, begins to sync and shuts down ITunes every time I try and sync. I have reset our phones and have all the most current versions of ITunes and my accessories OS.

All of a sudden the other day, my Verbatim USB flash drive just stopped being recognized... it had been mounted, a TM backup made to it when all of a sudden I got an error stating that it had been improperly removed... it was like I had yanked it from the USB port.I tried unplugging it, reconnecting, rebooting, moving it to another computer... no luck. it doesn't even show up in Disk Utility Verbatim has agreed to replace it under warranty but I'm wondering if there's anyway that I can mount it again to retrieve the TM backups.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have to quit Mail and restart it to start getting emails again. Plus all the messages I had deleted come back again and those moved elsewhere are back in the inbox. My company IT says the problem is that they are using an older version of MS Exchange server software and that Apple is not fully compatible. Is there a way to improve Apple Mail performance on my end?

This is really really starting to annoy me now. I'm watching a movie, and suddenly out of no where, it starts stuttering. It stops playing, misses frames, sound gets off sync with video, overall kills the movie experience. Checking activity monitor, I see mds.app going crazy thrashing the hard drive. What the heck Apple. I don't need spotlight updated every 10 minutes. Is there a way to set times where it scans my computer? I rarely even use spotlight, most of the time I use it to launch programs. Plus, most recent files I really don't need to search since I know where I put them. Please Apple, add some more options for spotlight for heaven's sake. I looked into spotlight options and it's a pathetic splatter of simply selecting which folders you want it to *display*. I want to make it only index at twilight times, or only if I'm not using the data heavy programs like the video player. I don't really want it turn it off though, as I use it sometimes and it's been helpful in finding things. I don't know why Snow Leopard doesn't address this, since it seems like the same interface that's going in 10.6.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn a day-to-day basis I run: Adobe PS, INDD, and AI, Microsoft Entourage, Firefox and iTunes. Just recently, after an upgrade to Leopard, I added Things and Simplify Media to the list.The problem that happens before (on Tiger) and now (on Leopard) is command+tab switching stops functioning and Expose hot corners and shortcuts stop working.
I'm pretty sure this isn't a Finder crash because before, on Tiger, I could quit+restart Firefox and everything would be back to normal. Almost as if some shortcut had causes the system to act differently or there was some app dissonance?
But now, with Leopard, nothing I quit will cause these two features to act properly until I do a restart. Both features (command+tab switching and expose) are very necessary for my work flow. I have checked SysPref to make sure keyboard shortcuts are default and Univeral Access to make sure assisted devices is turned off.
For a while I've been having trouble streaming videos on my MacBook Air. Regardless of what browser I use, after 10 or 15 minutes, the video begins to lag. I have 15GB of hard drive left (out of 80) and 2GB of RAM. When I've looked at the activity monitor, the flash player or Silverlight uses up all of the CPU.

View 28 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue with using bootcamp to install Windows onto a 25GB on my 2010 2.4GHZ MBP.
At the stage of installation when windows setup reboots the laptop, installation does not continue, instead a black screen appears for a while then the message press any key to boot from CD/DVD. Doing this then starts the setup again from the start.
I have partially remedied this problem by sitting at the laptop during installation and at the point of restart holding down the option key and selecting to boot the windows drive which then recommences installation.
However after a minute or so of 'finalising installation' (or something along those lines) the system completely freezes, the mouse does not move etc and it will sit there happily for 30 mins without doing anything until I turn it off.
This has been tried with 2 copies of Windows; a genuine copy of Windows Vista 32 bit and a perhaps not so legitimate (OEM edition) of Windows 7.
Both have the same problem of restarting to reload the disc from the start, although I have only tried my partial fix with the Windows 7 installation (will try on the Vista disc tomorrow).
The apple support on the issue is very vague and their guide essentially skips the whole installation of windows - goes from booting the setup disc to after installation install your macbook drivers >.>
Any suggestion on what the issue may be?
All help appreciated as I really want Windows on my system in the next few days before I go to university so I can use Microsoft Office on it (do not feel like buying a new version for mac).
Are there any other potential solutions for me to use my Windows Office on my mac? (I'm a complete newbie to mac, have only had the machine 3 weeks or so, I've heard about virtual drives and so on but don't know fully how they work and don't see them as the better option unless absolutely necessary)
The problem I am having is that my spotlight runs fine and then after a period of using my imac (2 hours) the searches take longer and longer to do. This happens when I am searching using a window. So by holding the alt cmd space bar and then keying in my keywords.
If i search by going to the magnifying glass in the menu bar it searches as normal but then clicking on show all results its back to being slow. If I reboot the mac it continues to run fast and then eventually goes slow. I have tried rebuilding the spotlight databases but this has not helped.

Some problems with iTunes, that appeared currently. When playing music suddenly the rendering stops for several seconds and then it continues without any action from my side. Maybe the problem only shows up when my MacBook comes to the standby mode, but nevertheless, I never had this problem before and it really restricts the possibilities of enjoying music played by iTunes.

I recently, somehow, double-purchased 3 episodes of a TV show from iTunes. I watched the first set of the episodes, but now the second set keep trying to auto download, CONSTANTLY, even though I try to delete them from everywhere I can. I have already watched them, I just want to get rid of the doubles! I'd rather not waste a stack of my download limit by letting them download, but I can't see any way to delete them so that they'll stop already.

I use iCloud for syning Mail & Notes. Contacts, Calendars and Documents & Data. I am 100% sure that in the past in iTunes/Info tab "Sync contacts" and "Sync Mail Accounts" showed all my different Address Book groups and different email account to be synced. Since recently they seem disappeared and I only see my different Calendars to be synced. Why are both Sync contacts empty and Sync Mail Accounts both emtpy/dimmed. BTW if I check Sync contacts I get a message that they are synced through iCloud etc. etc. Now if I enable on my Mac another email account in Apple Mail it is not added to my iPhone/iPad anymore. How can I change that ?

I run multiple user accounts on my Tiger, these help me organize my documents and settings depending on different things I do. I recently re-installed the system, keeping old accounts and settings, but ever since every time I have iTunes playing on one of the accounts and log into a different one the sound goes off. Any idea how I can change it, as I used to be able to switch in between accounts without music being affested.

I bought Myst from the app store on my iPod last night, and when I plugged it into my computer, it attempted to sync Myst to it but it wouldn't make any progress. Was taking an impossible amount of time, so I canceled it. Now iTunes won't recognize it. I can't see it in Disk Utility either (although I'm not sure that is possible)
Anyway, I've tried restarting iTunes and the iPod and neither has resulted in success. Ideas?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I insert a music cd into my Macbook Pro, the cd spins for a short time, never shows up in iTunes or my Finder, and then is ejected. Curiously, I can insert a blank cd and burn a playlist to it in iTunes. I can then re-insert the burned music cd and the Macbook Pro recognizes it, opens it up in iTunes and asks if I want to import it.
