So I got my Macbook Aluminum 13 inch 2.4GHz for a few days ago, and I just downloaded coconut, and it says that my Mac is 6 months?! And my battery mah is like 4200, with 6 cycles. Is this bad? and should I get a refund?
I am trying to decide whether to get the 2010 model or the cheaper 2009 model. These are the differences that I've found so far for the base model. For arguments sake, let's say they both have 4gb ram (most people selling them have upgraded to 4gb)
Having a slightly slower cpu, less battery life (about 7 hours rather than 9) and a slightly weaker gpu don't bother me so much, as I will be mostly using the macbook pro for internet surfing and writing word documents
My question is, are there any other differences? (that would make me go for the 2010 rather than the 2009 model) - maybe differences in the display? shape? something else?
i am contemplating buying a late 2008 mbp air i found for $800 on CL. it has the 1.86 ghz 2gig ram and an 128 gb ssd. would that be comparable to the new 2010 version? i know the new one will edge it out, but by how much? i do a lot of art using flash, illustrator, and ps but just want to use this machine occasionally when i travel, ill have another machine for the heavy lifting if needed be. is that a good deal? or should i just wait and get the 2010 version which is double that?
Of the above only the battery life is of any relevance to me (unless the display quality is really that different?). The SD card would be marginally more useful than the Express card.
I've been contemplating recently (as most mac users do) about switching my 2 year old MBP (2.2 ghz, 2gb ram, 8600m) to the new MBP (15" 2.8, newer gfx, touchpad and a few minor details).
I've been eying the ebay prices for some time and my particular model (with charger, snow leopard, original accessories but w/o box) is valued at about 700gbp. Perhaps people might disagree with me here - how much is it really worth ?
My main point / question is really at what point should I ditch the existing MBP in favor of the new mbp - does it really offer me that much of a benefit at this time to upgrade? I'd sure like the new graphics card in there (is it really that much better?) but I'm not sure there's a significant enough difference there.
On the other hand if I wait much longer the MBP will become pretty devalued and not get me much back for the new and improved MBP - maybe apple's going to improve them soon anyway?
I was let down when I found that I had to reformat my MBP 13" after 6 months of use. I also had Bootcamp installed but I found that my MBP would take a long time to boot into OSX and when I did, I had a lot of spinning beach balls. Even my Bootcamp began giving me errors. After using the utilities to find out what the health issues were, I found that my repairs to the hard drive were unsuccessful and I had to reformat.Mind you I had a time machine back up, but I was frustrated that after just six months of owning the MBP I had to reformat. It brought back memories of dealing with Windows. I mean, if I have to do this again in 6 months, I mine as well use Windows since I basically did the same thing then too. (And it was cheaper!)
My macbook is a week and a day old. It is the newer whitebook with nvidia and all that. Coconut battery says its 123 months old? why is this? The only thing i can think of is that apple possibly had a used macbook come in and they switched out some parts and changed it to the new one? btw it was bought new at best buy.
Got a question about the battery in my wife's white Macbook. I just downloaded (and ran for the first time) Coconut Battery and it reports the following info:
Current Battery Charge: 5281 mAh Maximum Battery Charge: 5281 mAh
Current Battery Capacity: 5281 mAh Original Battery Capactiy: 5020 mAh
Battery-LoadCycles: 60 Age of your Mac: 8 months
Now, I'm no rocket scientist, and I'm definitely not complaining, but how in the world does my battery have More capacity now than it did when it was new? Is this an error in Coconut? System Profiler reports the same capacity and my research online seems to concur that 5020 mAh was the original capacity.
is the model MB321LLA for Airport Express the newest model which is current selling at Apple?
because I saw some sellers selling this model and I wanna get it but when I check Apple.com, I don't see the the newest model number they are currently selling
What is the best way to finance a MacBook? I was looking at the deferred interest for 12 months from Barclay's on Apples site. However, I have not calculated how much interest that would really be but is it a guarantee that they would give me enough credit limit to cover that MBP I would want?
Are there any cons to purchasing a refurbished MacBook Pro? My original has been on its dying leg for the past few months. Had it since 2003! I'm not in a position to spend so much money on a brand new MBP. Has anyone bought there Mac refurbished?
The first couple kernel panics I had appeared to have been caused by Trend Safe Web Surfing for MAC i have since uninstalled that and it keeps panicing.. programs i always have open
- safari
- firefox
- skype (text chat only .. never video)
- Outlook for Mac
- Adobe CS5 Dreamweaver
there is never anything consistent about when it happens
I recently purchased a Macbook Pro 15" Unibody and my titanium steel watch is resting against the wrist rest. Which is the most reliable and affordable option to protect it from scratches on the wrist rest and the top and bottom of it's body.
I can't get it to turn on even if it did the screen would be messed up. It had an SSD rev C will that work in a base refurb rev b or does it look like the rev D will support the same 1.8 hard drive? I can hold out a while on a G3 but I hope they update soon! It's ironic that my MBA is what I use to edit video and game to an extent so I really don't want to go back to 1.6ghz unless I have to.
I think you guys will agree with me, that I have powercycled my battery too much, resulting in a serious loss of performance with my battery.
I have been unplugging my MBP each, and every night, and then using battery during th day until I got the low battery warning, then plugging it in until the evening, and so on.
Looking at the status below, 50+ powercycles in 10 months has reduced the life of my battery by half. Looks like I will invest in a new battery at some point, and follow Apples guidelines to the letter in future.
Has anyone found a keyboard protector that works with the new 13" MacBook Air? I know that Marware makes them for the earlier version, but I don't know if it will work with the newer MacBook Airs.
I've scoured the web to find if anyone else has this brown substance on their unibody MacBook laptop charger, to no avail. It's inside the very thin crevices of the L-shaped protrusions around which you tie the power cord that connects to the MacBook.Anyone here has any ideas about what this substance may be? Is it simply lubrication or leakage from the power unit?
I was just wondering because my current MacBook is cracking left right and centre and I haven't even done anything to it. Cracks on the palm rest, the sides, the bottom, the bezel and now even the hinge, pretty bad. I am looking for a new laptop for various other reasons and I was going to get the 13" pro because I really don't like the white MacBooks anymore, but I'm really strapped for cash and I was wondering if I should maybe get the white unibody, only problem is I would hate to buy it and then have it crack just like this one has.
I was thinking of ditching my 15" glassbook pro for a matte unit. However, I was thinking of just getting the single 9400 model. I was wondering if having this single video chip would affect my ability to run higher resolutions, and multiple monitors. As I recall, you can have two external monitors plus the 15" LCD.
Can I use an 85W adapter on a MB062LL/B unit that was originally designed for a 60W. I would like to update to a newer macbook later and wanted something that would be compatible with the newer one.
Whenever I move my MacBook Pro, I get this weird faint metallic click noise. Is this normal? I have seen some videos on YouTube with this problem: [URL]
I turned on the wife's macbook and Safari and Entourage was missing from the unit? I can put them back but am more worried why they went in the 1st place.
My macbook has been overheating and freezing for several months now. I bought a cooling fan to put it on which has helped. What is the best fan replacement brand and how difficult is it to instal?
