Some might think I shouldn't be disturbed by this, but the search function was perfect until now. There were no unwanted selections. What is wrong? Jun 1, 2014After I executed automation and default clean up function with Onyx. After reboot Finder doesn't open anymore on the menu bar there are only three options: finder, files, help. I have to click on the finder menu and choose run full finder to get it back to work.

Im able to create a new account and everything works fine. I have keychain in the current account so it will be better if I can fix this.

internet sharing is on, firewall is off. iphone can connect to the wireless, but wont DHCP the right ip address. before it was something like 10.0.0.x when its working. now the ip adress i got on the iphone its 169.254.xxx.xxx

Dec 26, 2009I recently received an Intel SSD 80GB 2.5" for my MacBook (Alu MacBook 13"; the MacBook specific area is pretty dry as far as SSDs go). While it is quite fast and I am content with the speed, one anomaly has arisen. I was walking upstairs with my MacBook closed in hand and embraced to my chest when I heard a rattling noise coming from the sleeping machine. I opened it up to see that the SSD has about 1/2 to 1 inch of movement horizontally and about 1/2 inch vertically. When I put in the new drive I made sure to screw in the bracket nearest to the logicboard (but I later realized that the SSD does not have the nubs the old HDD did and therefore it does little in the way of securing the SSD). I looked at this video on information about how to install the SSD, but as far as I know, I have done everything that he has.
Am I correct in assuming that this is normal? This is my first installation of a new hard drive of any means into a laptop.
Intel Mac :: A Website Doesn't Display Properly On It
May 27, 2012I own both an iMac and a MacBook.Lately I've been trying to use [URL] and while the website does work, it displays totally wrong on my iMac ?I looked at all I could think of (not a newbie, but not savvy enough to go look in the coding to look for errors there).The one section from the site which displays correctly is one without a menu on both right and left. It's a blog. Here's a clue, I guess. I tried with both Safari 5.1.6 and Firefox 13.0, with the exact same result. But on my Macbook it displays perfect! I am using Firefox 12.0 on it. So I downgraded to Firefox 12.0 on the iMac... no success.Of course I also cleared the cache, closed the browser, and the computer... no luck.I then removed all plugins, since it was the only remaining difference...I thought it could be a difference in display... altough I couldn't see how... I changed it from 1920x1080 to the ones similar to my Macbook's (1280x1024 and 1280x720)... Of course it was the same, just more blurry. It doesn't make sense and I hate it when it doesn't make sense!Of course I hate it even more that I can't use that website on my iMac!!! (or with a lot of hassle).

Intel Mac :: Moving Windows Doesn't Re-draw Screen Properly Sometimes
Mar 2, 2012It started recently, and I've had this Mac Pro (10.6) for several years. Sometimes, when I move a window, it doesn't redraw the screen *under* it properly, leaving my screen completely messed up. Activating Dashboard (temporarily) fixes it (causes a correct re-draw of everything), and sometimes taking a screengrab fixes it - the display looks correct underneath the area I am selecting for screengrab. A reboot fixes it also, for a while. Sometimes a Firefox window goes completely black, for some seconds, then comes back; haven't noticed that for any other programs' windows. I have 4 monitors connected to this Mac and a bunch of internal drives, but everything was very stable until recently.

Jun 23, 2012I experience this problem for 2 days now. The wi fi says it is connected and all the bars are full but id doesn't load a single page!
The internet i've got is vergin so normally is very fast.Downstairs where we have a desktop computer connected to the D-link is working as normal.
When I open the network diagnostics in mac it shows : wi fi is green , wi-fi settings is green, network settings is failed(red), ISP failed(red), Internet failed (red), server failed red.

Jun 3, 2014Recently I bought an IMAC 27 inch with OSX 10.9.1 on it. Video editing i do with AVID MEDIA COMPOSER 6.5.4.
Then I did the upgrade to OSX 10.9.2, for sofar was everything ok. Later I did the upgrade to OSX 10.9.3 and then the problems started.
A portion of AVID no longer worked properly. So the problem was clearly the upgrade. Now my question is how can I go back to OSX 10.9.2 ...

Mar 13, 2012I'm a relatively new Mac user so I'm not sure if it's user ignorance or something is wrong with my computer but nothing happens when I insert a cd into the drive. Nothing shows up in iTunes, Finder, or on my desktop. Shouldn't I see an audio CD in iTunes? And if I put a blank DVD into the drive, shouldn't it show up in Finder so I can burn files to it?

Jun 24, 2012After several attempts my firewire would not mount on the iMac desktop. After reading the forum, so I reset the PRAM and the SMC.
NOW, after rebooting the iMac after 3 or 5 minutes the external disk connect with a firewire 400 appear on the desktop with a spcial mention from my iMac " Could not repair the external disk !?
Even though the disc is NEW and formated on the same machine two hours early!

May 14, 2012The only way can restart my Intel iMac27" desktop is to reach around at the back bottom left of the computer and hold the button down for about 6 seconds, If I don[t I just get the spinning wheel. After I restart manyally I get the gray apple logo and the same spinning wheel - and then it startsup fine. Reinstalled software several times.

Intel Mac :: Firewire 400 Camera Doesn't Work With 800 Port?
Jun 26, 2012I have a firewire 400 camera that i'm using for a project and one firewire 800 slot on my iMac (Late 2009). When I plug the camera in, nothing responds no matter what I do - tried resetting the PRAM and SMC. Compare this to my older iMac (Late 2007) which has both firewire 800 and 400 ports. I plug it in and it pops up using the underlying Quicktime controller api on either the 800 or 400 port no problem. So I figured after trying to install a firewire camera library (libdc1394) which I need for my project which didn't work, that it must be a hardware issue, so I took it to the Apple store. The genius at the store booted the OS (Lion) from a firewire drive via 400 to 800 cable (no external power to the f/w drive was used) and then using the spare 400 slot on the hard drive, he plugged (daisy chaining) in my camera and it loaded! So this suggested 2 things - my OS is corrupt or my card can't read straight from my device but why a hard drive in between would change this is beyond me. I came home and installed OS X on to an external USB hard drive and loaded up from it - so this is a fresh version of Lion, there should be no software issues. Plug the camera in to the I/O board of the iMac but load the OS from the external USB hard drive - nothing happens, the profiler doesn't detect anything at all. On a side note, I installed XP and Ubuntu Linux and they also can't detect it, which further suggests its the device or I/O board when interfacing directly with this camera. I've tried providing the devices with external power, daisy chaining 2 cameras, using a usb hub....nothing works. Just for good measure, I tried to boot Lion off the external USB on my older iMac and again, it worked no problem, which to me really narrows it down to the hardware.
I feel like perhaps the port is a bit dodgy and when the genius daisy chained it, it worked better, but no idea why. Someone said I should get a firewire 400 to usb adaptor

Silly me, now I need to either switch to IWORKS or something else, immediately, so I can get back to work. Jun 28, 2012I was installing windows with Bootcamp.so i started the installation process got past partition and now i am stuck on select cd-rom boot type no key board or mouse will work and i cannot eject the windows cd everytime i restart it goes to this screen..I tried a dell keyboard with usb and that didn't work any other suggestions.i feel like if i eject the cd it will help i just want to get back to Lion and all that awesome stuff on my computer.
