first time i have ever come across. I have a Intel 2 MacBook Pro. There is no sound coming from the speakers even though it is not muted and the vol is turned to the max. There is sound coming if i plug headphones in the jack. Just noticed that there is a red light coming from where the headphone jack is...anyone have any idea how i can get my speakers to work again?

I didn't play any music. Not beep sound or something similar. The sound comes from one side of the speaker. I closed all application but the sound is still there. Sounds like fan or something blowing inside. I ain't sure. It stops only when I completely shut down my computer. When I switched it on, it's gone. My battery level is low (22%). Does this affect?

I've read in several posts in this website's forum that there's a CPU noise problem with the MBPs, i even got to this site: o-noise-update...The thing is, that my computer is experimenting completely different symptoms, and that's quite annoying. I feel I'm alone in this The thing started like this, I sent my 13" Mid 2009's 2GHZ MBP to AppleCare to be repaired after the audio jack stopped working, they told me the audio card was to be replaced, and they did fix that problem, little did I not notice in the Apple Store (due to the store's natural noisy environment) that after this repair they gave me the computer back with the infamous hissing sound.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just noticed a weird clicking noise coming from the left hand side of my macbook. It only clicks when the macbook is being moved about or a sudden movement occurs. I thought it might be the HDD motion sensor but since its coming from the left hand side it's concerning me slightly.

View 10 Replies View RelatedAbout 5 mins ago i rebooted my Mac, and in the boot process something started to buzz horibly. I was in a dark room, so it was very scary for me and very late too... Being scared i pushed CTRL+OPTION+SHIFT+POWER so it shut down imeaditly.
I powered it on, no buzzing. But OS X did not boot at all. Just stood there. Now I'm booting of the recovery DVDto disable my EFI pass, so i can boot verbose.

I don't like that they automatically come to the computer even if the messages app isn't open. I've looked through preferences and I don't see a way to change this.

Just got a new 2.2 MBP delivered to me yesterday. Didn't seem to have any problems at all until about an hour ago. I just began hearing a metallic "plink" noise every few minutes or so. Its not a click or a tick but more like a hollow plink. It comes at random intervals but sounds like it may be coming when the hard drive(?) or something inside the machine spins.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI purchased my Macbook in August 2007 and have no problems until Christmas this year.
It started buzzing and I wasn't sure what it was, until a week later I got a folder with a question mark at log-in, from what I understand my hard-drive died. I replaced the hard-drive myself within a few minutes, very easy and no problems, and it runs perfectly.
It's been two weeks and it's already buzzing again. I take very good care of my Macbook but I do transport it from class and back everyday.
when i use expose or open dashboard or any other screen for that matter that opens up, i always get a high pitched "grinding" noise coming from my display. It wasnt there before and all of a sudden it starts doing this? im very confused about this as i have no idea what it could be
View 16 Replies View RelatedI bought a MBP 15 inch 2.66ghz brand new back in september. Since my purchase i have has several things that have been annoying the crap out of me.
Issues:
1. Clunk noise coming from HD, I have read some posts and installed Hdapm which reduced the sound a bit (i have the 320gb 5400rpm Fujitsu)
2. I believe becuz of the clunking (parking of the heads) causes my computer to stutter (mini freeze for like 1-2 secs) while using my MBP..
3. The battery used notify me that i had PLENTY of time to use even when i had below 50% battery life left, now (on Firmware 1.6) the battery tells me i usually have like 2:30mins of use when im at 85% or so battery strength left. and YES the screen is dimmed along with the keys.(i have calibrated the battery also)
I went back to 1.6 firmware due to the notion that various people have had better success on their harddrives working "better" with stock, or aftermarket.
I am on a CLEAN install of Snow Leopard...
Last weekend, after I took my headphones out of the computer, I couldn't get any sound from the mac, and the volume controls on the keyboard didn't work. 5 minutes later I noticed a red light coming out of the headphone jack. I looked around for answers and apparently all you need to do is stick in a matchstick or Q-tip and wiggle it around to fix the sensor. It worked the first time. I could get sound from the mac and the next couple of times after unplugging the headphones, everything was normal. The problem has come up again, and I'm looking for a permanent fix. Am I looking at a trip to the Apple Store to get it fixed, or is there something I can do?

i feel like i hear more from the left side of my mbp then the right. either that or my right ear is clogged with tons of nasty stuff......ive picked my ear (sorry for TMI) but its not working, so im pretty sure i hear more out of the left speaker. is this normal? i read something before saying theirs a "left speaker biased" or w/e

I used to have a password on my Macbook but I got annoyed of having to type it in every time I closed/opened the lid and the Macbook woke up. I got rid of the password through my system settings, but the prompt kept coming up when I opened the Macbook, but there was no password. I would just leave the password field blank and hit enter. Okay, no big deal. I just restarted my Macbook because it was lagging with video, and its asking me for a password to start up. I tried leaving it blank and just hitting Log In, the prompt shakes back and forth. I tried my old password before I got rid of it, the prompt just shakes. I don't have a password, why am I getting a prompt on startup and how do I get past it.

First of all, my Macbook doesn't make ANY noise. Is very silent, but everytime I start a game, or I start to upload some files, the fans start to flip faster and faster and makes a big noise, like a rocket being launched. When I stop the game, the fans start to go slowly.

where the external speakers i am running through my Focusrite Saffire 6 USB interface have ceased producing any sound at all when linked in to the Macbook Pro . I have plugged them in elsewhere and they are working fine , so that is not the issue . Â
i had performed the software update on my Macbook pro to get OSX 10.9.3 . I have gone in to sound settings and made certain that both input and output are set to the Saffire interface . A signal is certainly coming through and sound can be recorded , so input is fine . I have also done this in both Garageband and Logic , to no avail . However this issue is effecting ALL sound in the sense that nothing is coming out at all from any source . No sound is coming out headphones when plugged in to the interface.Â
Thought it might be the interface but this literally happened as soon as i tried using my set up with the new OSX 10.9.3 software installed . Oh and i also get an error message whilst playing a track on garageband : "Error while trying to synchronize audio and midi...Sample rate 42212 recognized , check conflict between garage band and external device". Here's a reminder of gear used :Â
-Macbook Pro OSX 10.9.3
