MacBook :: Unibody - CE - Battery Plate - Wont Fit Snuggly Or Level With Rest Of The Back
Jun 6, 2010
After taking the back plate off to add ram, replace hardrive etc.. it appears it wont fit snuggly or level with the rest of the back any more.
The battery is almost like a spring when I release the catch, Im not sure it use to be like that.

The sleeve I keep my laptop in got wet tonight and now the bottom of my macbook is a weird grey/green/yellow colour. The sleeve is by logiix. I can't find the product online but the inside of the sleeve is micro-fibre-ish kind of material... I took some pictures but the quality is really bad, i took it from my cellphone.... I'm wondering if there's anyway to clean it up or do i have to live with it forever... Why does this happen? Might Apple cover it?

When I unplug the power cord from my MacBook (unibody - late 2008), the battery icon in Mac OS X stops updating it's level and the icon does not change. The menu says that it is running on power adapter even when it is unplugged and that the computer is not charging. The hardware battery indicator continues to show the correct battery level. Normally I should get a warning when the battery is about to die (running on emergency power) but I don't, instead it just runs out of battery and shuts down.

Excluding sitting outside in the sun or in very dark rooms, what level do you usually keep your MBA brightness level at and what kind of battery life do you get? I've got mine set to about 65%, haven't used it enough to know what kind of life I get.

I have a brand new MacBook ( < 1 month old ). I usually leave it plugged in and sleeping on my desk, and open it up to use it. After about a day of this, it will still say the battery is fully charged, and the light on the MagSafe is green, but the batter display shows 99% (or 98%, 97%, 96%). If I unplug it and use it for a bit, and the plug it in again, the battery will charge back up to 100% (and then the whole process will begin again). I love my MacBook, and want to make sure this behavior is normal.

I am getting a very short battery life out of my "New" A1261 battery - we're talking 2.5 hours tops. I've recycled it a few times, but this is no where near the "7" hours that is quoted.

i just had service battery on my laptop and took it to apple. they replaced the battery and explained that if i leave it charging at 100 it overcharges and causes service battery and other errors. is there any programs or something i can use to make my mac stop charging at 99%? or do i just have to manually pull out the charger?

I bought the Apple Rechargeable Battery kit and like the whole idea but have noticed that the batteries never seem to reach 'full' charge. I use them primarily in my Magic Mice and the Bluetooth link at the top of the screen never shows them having a 100% charge. It's usually in the 70 to 80% range.

My magic mouse keeps indicating that the battery level is at 0% even when I just put in some new batteries in it. Any insight into this issue? Should I exchange it. If I get the unit as part of an imac I got from the apple online store, would I be able to get it serviced at a retail location?

Anyone else have this issue....my Mom has the new 21.5" iMac (base model) with the wireless keyboard. The Magic Mouse battery level changes, however the keyboard battery level stays at 100% all the time?

I have an iBook G4 Mac laptop. It's a model that pre-dates the duel cores that are now standard. I'm having an odd battery issue and I'm wondering if my battery is fried. The other night the computer was run on battery power and was reduced to 25% capacity. Normally this is fine. We just leave it plugged in and the battery charges. This time the battery is not charging. The ring around the power cord that connects the computer is staying green and the battery's capacity is at 28%. I left it plugged in over night and there has been no change in the battery's charge level.
If I disconnect the power cord and re-connect it the light will turn orange to indicate it's charging, but a few seconds will go back to green or blink between green and orange. I have re-started the computer twice. I have switched power outlets and have brought the laptop into the office to see if it was a power supply problem at my home. I even switched out power cords. I recently bought a spare cord when my original cord became frayed around the power connector. Is this a sign my battery is finished and needs to be replaced?

Do the batteries on the unibody develop a memory like cell phones do if you keep charging them before the battery is drained completely or almost dead? I don't want to kill the battery life and was just curious if apple had maybe done something in the cpu to control that?

I have a 15" MBP (2.66Ghz, late 2008), I usually don't have WiFi turned off, so I just wanted to know how long does it usually last with WiFi off and semi-high brightness setting for the display. The only activity is typing in Word and maybe a few non intensive Photoshop stuff.
I'd like to get an estimate because I have no power adapters where I'll be using it.

Hopefully this isn't a duplicate thread....
After a week of owning this great computer I closed the lid to put it to sleep last night (same as i do every night) and the sleep indicator light dimmed as it would when it goes to sleep. I heard the HD and fan turn off as normal. But as soon as the front light dimmed all the way the apple icon flashed for a split second and the HD started back up and the sleep indicator light stayed brightly lit for about 10-15 seconds. It would then dim again as if it was going to sleep and start this cycle all over again. I didn't realize this until i was laying in bed and heard my HD start up every few seconds.
I tried restarting the computer and nothing changed. Nothing is running in my dock except for finder. I tried putting it to sleep with the lid open and it went to sleep, but then just came back awake within a few seconds. I went to click shutdown and it restarted. I tried to shutdown once more and it just restarted. I did a hard shutdown and then turned it on and tried to put it to sleep and it still was the same....
I'm new to mac so I'm very naive with these still.
Edit: I'd also like to add that my computer now gets very very very hot on the bottom with nothing running. Not nearly as hot as a few days ago. I don't know if it's related.

I did some google searches, but could not find anything that was exactly my issue. I have a 2008 MBP unibody. If the MBP is on battery only and I close the lid, the notebook shuts down completely. This is even when the battery is fully charged. However if while plugged in and I do the same, the computer "sleeps" as advertised. I have reset both the SMC and PRAM to no avail. The main thing that bothers me is it seems like when this happens on battery, its almost as if the computer is getting a hard shut down. The machine acts as if the battery was pulled while the lid was closed and this is obviously not good for the hardware or sofware.

Just bought a new MBP Unibody and I'm loving it so far. My friend has the one with the single graphics card and he's claiming 6-7 hours of battery life on a single charge with the screen lit a little under half. I set mine the same way and I don't get as much battery life. I have the one with the dual video cards. Is that going to cause the battery to drain faster and if so, can I disable the second video card when I'm not doing intense graphics processing?

I had water spilled on my macbook, now my battery will not charge. Everything else works fine except the battery will not accept a charge. When the AC power is plugged in for the first time after removing the battery it blinks green ONCE and then does not turn on again. When I remove the battery entirely the AC power steadily blinks green. If the battery is removed the macbook will not power on. I am hoping this has happened to someone else before, and does not mean I need to replace the logic board.

I have a macbook (A1278 2.4Ghz) that is having power issue.
This macbook will not charge and will not start without battery ( or battery without juice) but once start it works without any problem.
When connect to power source it shows battery "not charging" and change the power source to "power adaptor". (LED is showing very dim green)
The battery indicator is also not working.
Is there a way I can confirm which part is not working, i am looking at battery connector and battery indicator.(maybe magsafe dc-board or maybe logic board.)

I've just got a 13" MBP and I've noticed that around the middle of the bottom plate can be pressed in slightly. I can notice it most when I pick the laptop up by putting my hands underneath it and it bends inwards slightly. Does anyone else notice this on their MBPs?

I've got a MacBook Pro 15' from late 2011. Now, I noticed that when I take my macbook to move it, I can push in the bottom plate to the point where I notice it is touching internal components. When the macbook is in front of me (normal working position), the place where I can push it in is on the right side. Is this normal or should I bring it in?

I am wondering if anyone knows what Apple charges to have the bottom plate of the MacBook Pro replaced. When I was at a store, an employee told me that it "might cost, like, uh, forty bucks," in a way that made me think he was just pulling that price out of his you-know-what. After searching eBay for that part and finding no auctions for less than $100, I assumed that Apple would charge something more like that.
It's really irritating that in order to replace two of my footpads, I must replace the whole bottom plate of the body. Apple is really trying to get people to buy the service plan, and then a new laptop when that runs out. Great for the environment. The whole unrepairable Retina Display MacBook debacle is just more proof of that.
