Aug 22, 2010I have Mac pro about two months old. I am having problem with my Mac pro When I remove the betray charger, system running very slow and when I cannot charger it will run normal. I believe there is some problem please help me to fixed this I would like to give more details about my macbook pro. I have mac os x version: 10.6.3 model idendifer: macbook pro 7,1 processor speed: 2ghz and i do have warranty. This macbook is only two month. so kindly requst to advice me why my macbook is running slow when i remove the charger.

Aug 11, 2010The Apple one looks tempting as it comes with 6 batteries and 29€ isn't too much, plus, as usual, it looks brilliant. I looked at some 3rd party chargers as well ranging from 20€ to 40€. None of them was stunning or special by any means. Cheaper ones usually came with two or four batteries and some came without batteries. I don't really need it for else than Magic Mouse, occasionally for something else too.

Mar 2, 2009I've been trying to keep track of how my 2ghz unibody Macbook uses its RAM, and I've been curious as to why after some time it reports that I have as little as 30 MB of free RAM left. It obviously reports that the rest is in use, but the numbers just don't add up to 1.9GB of used up RAM. What is my computer doing that is not being reported, and how do I get it to stop? It has made my machine noticeably slower. I've posted a screen shot to illustrate. It may help to know that I had been a Windows user for years. In Windows we can launch msconfig.exe to manage which programs get to run in the background and at start up, and from there we could decide to shut down programs that check, for example, for RealPlayer updates and other completely unnecessary executables. Can someone give me a run down of what I can safely eliminate from my processes in my Macbook, and therefore keep more RAM free at all times?

Sep 16, 2009Just bought a new MBP Unibody and I'm loving it so far. My friend has the one with the single graphics card and he's claiming 6-7 hours of battery life on a single charge with the screen lit a little under half. I set mine the same way and I don't get as much battery life. I have the one with the dual video cards. Is that going to cause the battery to drain faster and if so, can I disable the second video card when I'm not doing intense graphics processing?

May 4, 20102010 MBP 15" i5 running 10.6.3. Time machine doesn't seem to care about the fact that the notebook is running on battery power. I keeps on performing backups. I've tried restarting, enabling and disabling Time Machine....nothing seems to work... Isn't time machine supposed to delay backups when the laptop is on battery power..?

Feb 18, 2008I've got a 17" MBP which I use each day on the commute from home to work. But by midday the battery is prett y flat. I don't work out of a single office so i can't really charge my battery up, so I've bought a spare. On the way home, swap out the battery and get working again. But the problem is charging them both up at home.
Does anyone know of an external battery charger for the MBP 17" batteries?

Jan 21, 2010its wierd, its 60 degrees celsium and 2300rpm fans (without any smc fan manglers) just FRESHLY rebooted, and completely CLEAN install! without anything. odesnt matter if its 10.5 or 10.6.
it used to be 44 degrees and 1800rpm fans! and 40 degrees with 2000rpm fans on 10.5. .

Oct 25, 2010I am thinking about buying a SSD to install in my late 2008 aluminum macbook. Specs are 6GB of ram, 2.4 GHZ processor, and the standard 250GB hard drive which I believe is 5400 RPMs. So my question is, is it worth it? Will I see that much of a performance improvement? I don't reboot that often. I currently am using 92GB of my 250GB hard drive. So I would probably only need like a 160GB or 200GB SSD. Also if I do get one which one would be a good one to get. What should I look for in features.

Jan 16, 2009I'm looking to run two extra screens off of my unibody 15" MBP while still using the screen on the notebook itself for intensive video-editing between FCP and the adobe series. I understand the maximum resolution the mini-dvi port can handle is 1920x1200--no problem. Now, does the maximum resolution change at all if I am running two external monitors (one using the mini DVI port and the other using a USB port via VGA/DVI adaptor to USB).
Can the graphics card handle running three screens at once along with FCP,After Effects, and Illustrator? Can the USB port also push 1920x1200? Or does the USB port on the MBP (I understand each adapter can have different capacities) have a different limit? Or is that 1920x1200 limit the maximum a sole mini-DVI cord can push? You might just say, hey buy a 30" ACD and use the usb/mini-dvi ports to run that at an even GREATER resolution. But alas, I cannot afford to do that yet.

Aug 17, 2010calibrating my battery for the first time this morning. i just opened my macbook pro to see that the time left icon jumps every minute. it goes from 8:50 to 12:38 to 6:54 to 11:37 to 7:40! and now it went from 8:45 to 9:19! the percentage remaining is consistent and correct but the time left is way out of whack! sorry for the slang! now it went from 9:19 to 9:11 then 8:47. i have the screen at the lowest brightness, no backlit keyboard, nothing else running except firefox. i wasnt aware that i was supposed to calibrate my battery and its been about 3 months since i bought this. now its at 8:37 now 8:18. this is quite

Jun 18, 2010I just turned on my 13" MBP and got this message. Apparently, this is supposed to come up when there is only like 5% charge left. My battery indicator at the top of the screen said there was 22% charge left. Also, according to IStat, my battery's health has already dropped down to 97% after only about 2 weeks and 5 cycles. Is this normal? I'm going to try recallibrating my battery by fully charging it and then letting it fully drain. Is there a good chance that this solves this problem?
