When I unplug the power cord from my MacBook (unibody - late 2008), the battery icon in Mac OS X stops updating it's level and the icon does not change. The menu says that it is running on power adapter even when it is unplugged and that the computer is not charging. The hardware battery indicator continues to show the correct battery level. Normally I should get a warning when the battery is about to die (running on emergency power) but I don't, instead it just runs out of battery and shuts down.

View 4 Replies View RelatedExcluding sitting outside in the sun or in very dark rooms, what level do you usually keep your MBA brightness level at and what kind of battery life do you get? I've got mine set to about 65%, haven't used it enough to know what kind of life I get.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new MacBook ( < 1 month old ). I usually leave it plugged in and sleeping on my desk, and open it up to use it. After about a day of this, it will still say the battery is fully charged, and the light on the MagSafe is green, but the batter display shows 99% (or 98%, 97%, 96%). If I unplug it and use it for a bit, and the plug it in again, the battery will charge back up to 100% (and then the whole process will begin again). I love my MacBook, and want to make sure this behavior is normal.

After taking the back plate off to add ram, replace hardrive etc.. it appears it wont fit snuggly or level with the rest of the back any more.
The battery is almost like a spring when I release the catch, Im not sure it use to be like that.

Since yesterday my battery level has stayed at 0%, even tho I am charging it. What's going on?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have an early 2008 non-unibody MacBook Pro. For about a year now, the status of the battery has been "replace soon." I was still getting a pretty good amount of time off of one charge so I wasn't too worried. This past Saturday morning, I woke up, checked the battery indicator lights on my computer (it had been sleeping since the day before) and it said it had about 60% percent so I opened it. I was on the Internet for about 10 minutes before it shut off without warning.
It wouldn't turn back on when I pressed the power button, so I plugged it in and it turned back on. When I checked, the battery status was "replace now." After using it, I turned it back off and left for NYC for the weekend and didn't bring it with me. When I got home last night, I plugged it in and tried turning it on with no luck. The battery indicator light was flashing one light, so I just assumed it would need to charge for a bit before it would turn back on. After about two hours, when I went to bed, it still was flashing just one light. I kept it plugged in over night, and this morning when I checked it, the battery indicator lights showed that it was fully charged, but it still wouldn't turn on. I still kept it plugged in throughout the day just in case, but it still won't turn on even though all the lights are lit. Is the battery just showing me false information, or should I be worried about more than just the battery?

i just had service battery on my laptop and took it to apple. they replaced the battery and explained that if i leave it charging at 100 it overcharges and causes service battery and other errors. is there any programs or something i can use to make my mac stop charging at 99%? or do i just have to manually pull out the charger?

I bought the Apple Rechargeable Battery kit and like the whole idea but have noticed that the batteries never seem to reach 'full' charge. I use them primarily in my Magic Mice and the Bluetooth link at the top of the screen never shows them having a 100% charge. It's usually in the 70 to 80% range.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy magic mouse keeps indicating that the battery level is at 0% even when I just put in some new batteries in it. Any insight into this issue? Should I exchange it. If I get the unit as part of an imac I got from the apple online store, would I be able to get it serviced at a retail location?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone else have this issue....my Mom has the new 21.5" iMac (base model) with the wireless keyboard. The Magic Mouse battery level changes, however the keyboard battery level stays at 100% all the time?
I have an iBook G4 Mac laptop. It's a model that pre-dates the duel cores that are now standard. I'm having an odd battery issue and I'm wondering if my battery is fried. The other night the computer was run on battery power and was reduced to 25% capacity. Normally this is fine. We just leave it plugged in and the battery charges. This time the battery is not charging. The ring around the power cord that connects the computer is staying green and the battery's capacity is at 28%. I left it plugged in over night and there has been no change in the battery's charge level.
If I disconnect the power cord and re-connect it the light will turn orange to indicate it's charging, but a few seconds will go back to green or blink between green and orange. I have re-started the computer twice. I have switched power outlets and have brought the laptop into the office to see if it was a power supply problem at my home. I even switched out power cords. I recently bought a spare cord when my original cord became frayed around the power connector. Is this a sign my battery is finished and needs to be replaced?

Did a quick search and couldn't find anything. My HD in my powerbook and full and I can't seem to start up my powerbook because the hard drive is so full. Does anyone know a way to get the computer started up so I can free up some space in my hard drive? I also have an external HD if that is of any help.
View 24 Replies View RelatedSo I was working on my MacBook Pro making a slide show and my other computer needed some power so I unplugged my Pro and plugged it into my other computer. After about five minutes my MacBook Pro just shut down. I don't know what happened, but the power is full and when I press the power button it doesn't do anything. It's almost like the power button doesn't even work.

I looked around and I find varying opinions. My laptop is mostly at home. Should I keep it plugged in when its full or should I let it drain? Please explain too.
Also, coconutBattery says I've used five cycles even though none of those were complete cycles. Is it just problems with the software or does it really count as a complete cycle?
I just bought my macbook this past weekend. I've noticed a drop of over 100 mAH in my battery's full capacity, after two cycles. Is this normal? Does this drop slow down?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI received my new 15", i7, 128gb ssd, 8gb ram macbook pro on april 19th. I love it and have no problems. Have any of you guys noticed that the full charge battery capacity, which is found under system profiler-power, varies often. When I first got the macbook pro the full charge capacity of the battery was around 6830. Now with each charge it seems to go down slowly. At first it jumped from 6800 to 6600 and now stays at around 6520. Is this normal?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if doing a full charge and then a discharge is a good thing when a new mac or new battery is bought? Also should it just be a simple charge and discharge or does it have to be a full calibration? Also what is the best method in maintaining a healthy battery? Should I cycle at least once a week and do a calibration every few months? Or should one cycle per month be fine? Also is it alright if the battery is fully charged and I have the plug-adaptor plugged in to my MacBook Pro while using it? Finally, is it true that over night the plug or when not in use and not charging the plug should be outside of the MacBook Pro?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI had some issues with battery drain while sleeping awhile ago but that problem has been solved. However, ever since that incident I could not be paranoid about the battery life etc.I heard people saying that leaving the charger plugged in is simply fine as long as I do the regular calibration once or twice a month or so. Yet, Apple stated that they do not recommend the laptops to be plugged in. I will be going to a college this Sept and I really do want my laptop to last at least the whole 4 years.
Ever since I have contacted Apple customer service about this Battery issue I have left my Macbook charged up and plugged in while using and letting it sleep. One thing I have noticed is that the battery indicator says 99% and doesn't increase or decrease yet the green light is on. Is that normal? Since this is my first Mac ever and also first Laptop I would like some advice on how to treat the Battery( I know how to do Calibration and such). Is it better to do full cycle usage of Alum Macbook battery than leaving it plugged in all the time? (I unplug it when the Macbook is off).
Late 2008 refurb Macbook Pro, 2.53ghz, Windows 7 RC (therefore forced to use the 9600 at all times). According to this report, the MBP got around 3&1/2hrs of run time with a dimmed screen and watching videos. From a full charge, I start browsing the internet (no videos at all), and my battery reading read as follows
91% 1hr, 16mins
90% 1hr, 20mins
89% 1hr, 24mins
87% 1hr, 23mins
Not only were the readings all over the place, but even from a full near charge I wasn't even getting an estimate of 2hrs, while Apple advertised 4 for the late 2008 model, and the review I linked to says they got 3&1/2. Do I have a bad battery, or does simply running the 9600 reduce the battery life by such a drastic amount? I have already calibrated my battery following the guide on the Apple website.
i charge my macbook full and it only ever lasts me up to 2 hours (never more) lately. i got my pro in september and noticed these problems a couple weks ago. the battery also runs loudly and the entire time my mac is on and my mac heats up real quick and hot. should i just bring it in to get it checked out?
i also only ever have a few applications running, the same ones ive always had running. theres no reason i should currently have 1:53 on my mac left at 90% battery.
