Apr 25, 2012Took my dead MacBook Pro (purchased April 29, 2008) to the Genius Bar because it would not start-up. They sent it out for repairs and ended up replacing the Logic Board stating the symptom was "NVIDIA Video Issue (multiple issues)". They charged me $310 plus tax. Would this fall under the "MacBook Pro: Distorted video or no video issues" from url...I tried calling Apple Corporate and they said the logic board had a loose wire. Hmmm seems weird to me since the graphic chip is soldered on to the logic board. The invoice said the reapir was covered and showed the amount owed to me was $0. When I went to pick up the fixed laptop the associate helping me had to speak to her manager and there was some back and forth as to whether I owed anything.

Jun 5, 2012I have a mac book pro...one of the older models...around 5 or 6 years old..the silver one with the silver around the screen part. Running Mac OS X 10.6.8,
2.33 GHz, 2GB ram.Â
Lately my computer has been rediculously slow with everything, but aside from that my issue is with my start up disc. I would have over 1.5 GB of space left, open up a photoshop file...make some alterations and save...and all of a sudden I have NO SPACE left. These alterations created the photoshop file to be like 50mb more. Its a 200mb file. So how can I go from 1.5 gigs to saving a 200mb .psd file and all of a sudden 0 hd space?Â
Sometimes I couldnt even save the .psd because when I opened it all of a sudden I have half a gig now. And even if I had half a gig why wouldnt I be able to save? I go to save and sometimes it says "your start up disc us full" - Is this different than my harddrive?Â
Is photoshop using some sort of weird caching thing?

MacBook :: Backspace And Return Keys Not Working
May 23, 2009The 'Return' and 'Backspace' keys on my mac have recently stopped working. Nothing was spilled on them and nothing seems to be wrong with them when pressed down. I also removed the keys and checked that there was nothing in the way, but there wasn't. I have rung apple and they said it would need to be taken into a store, but there isn't one near by and it will be a few weeks until i can take it in. In the meantime, is there any way that I could remap the keys in question to another couple of keys. For instance right command and right option?

Mar 8, 2012I'm a recent convert to a MacBook Air 13" Mid 2011 (running Mac OS X 10.7.3) in which I have connected to a HP 2711x monitor via the the Thunderbolt port using a DP to DVI adaptor connected to a DVI cable ultimately plugged into the DVI source on the monitor. In run my configure with both the MacBook's screen and the monitor running, extending my desktop not mirroring.Â
While everything works on "first run", for example connecting the laptop at the beginning of the day, at some point when the MacBook Air sleeps or (potentially) the HP monitor, when either are woken, the monitor no longer senses a DVI source. The MacBook still believes there is a second display. But, the HP monitor goes back to sleep. Turn the power off and back on to the monitor doesn't fix the problem. The only fix is to pull the power cord on the monitor and plug it back in, and it immediately goes back to normal.Â
I've tried shutting off the "Auto-Switch Source" feature on the monitor and have set the default source to DVI. We even tried using a different setup via HDMI, and the same problem occurred.Â
