View 3 RepliesI currently use a keyboard protector (Moshi clearguard) on my MBP but after usage, the protector makes the keyboard really ugly to look at. It isn't as "clear" as many people have reviewed. Anyway, when I try using it without the protector, the oil from my fingertips (my fingers feel dry!) seem to make the keys glossy (the nasty kind of glossy)
I realize that I can use the keyboard without the protector, and then scrub it down every week but that seems like a huge hassle.
Is there a way I can make the keys look exactly like they look without the protector and still make it resistant from the gloss from the skin oil?
Maybe apply a small special film on each of the keys? or get some professional coating done on the keys?
The Moshi protector seemed somewhat clear when I first used it but after time, it really isn't clear and makes the keyboard look dirty
A couple days ago I accidentally spilled lemonade all over my room. I didn't think I had gotten any on my keyboard, but apparently I did, as some of my keys are now sticky and really hard to press. Is there any way that I can 'unstick' these myself, or do I have to take it to my nearest tech store? (fyi my keys are most sticky under the keyboard and not on top of them). The computer is a 2010 MacBook Pro. Also, is there a way to clean the surface of your keys? I'm not too thrilled about the way they look right now and I would like to try and get them back to what they looked like when I bought it.

View 11 Replies View RelatedThe new flat white keys are getting dusty. With the old white keyboards I was able to pull each key, put them into a suck and throw them into the washer machine and that was it But, can I pull this keys? And they are so easy to leak any cleaner to the inside and loose the entire keyboard. Any suggestions for cleaning? Other than covering the keys with some plastic protector.

View 5 Replies View RelatedNew mac convert, I have had my iMac aluminum keyboard for 3 months and the keys are getting a tiny bit grubby. I am thinking I can turn off, unplug, spray a mild cleaner on a soft cloth and clean it up, but I cannot find a single source anywhere on the web that confirms this is ok. Is there any reason I can't do this?

I've been using itunes for a while and it just messed my entire music library up! I've found something that is more Winamp style for me named "Cog". Now my problem is that I want to control it with the F7, F8, F9 keys which are the rewind, play and forward keys, but when pressing any of them it works both on itunes and cog player. How can I disable the Itunes link to it? I want it to control only Cog player.

I just removed over 1000 cookies. They were bogging the system down to the point of having some pages freeze. I then closed Safari. I launched Safari again a few minutes later and all the cookies were back, even though the only site I went to was the Apple open page.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've just noticed that in my Finder window sidebar, under "Shared", I have a character called Thomson listed. I don't know any Thomson and I bought the machine, an MBA, brand new. However, I did have an engineer instal the machine in my apartment and can only assume he's the mysterious Thomson. Anyway, whoever he/she is, I don't want him/her on my machine as Shared & "connected as guest". The point is, I cannot find a way to delete Thomson!! Can anyone help? I've tried System Preferences>Security and Accounts and there's no trace of Thomson there. Right clicking on Thomson in the sidebar of Finder only gives me the option to Open and Get Info. Most annoying, this. There MUST be a way to delete a Sharing but totally unwanted guest....
View 13 Replies View Related what do the F5 and F6 keys do on my new 15-inch Macbook Pro?
I've turned whatever it is up and down, but notice no immediate differences.
They basically look like underscores with dots coming out of the top.
I just got a new Macbook Pro and f5 and f6 are used for the keyboard backlight. I don't need f6 but I'd like f5 to refresh the browsers. In preferences I can switch the f keys to be the default, but I just want this for f5. Does someone know how to do this?

View 8 Replies View Related A will get here in a couple of days, so I was reading some reviews and came across this:"The secret is that this mobile system has a little fewer keys: there are only 79 of them, while Wintel notebooks have 88-key keyboards."Which keys are these?
I reinstalled OS X from a Leopard dvd earlier (took it to an apple store and borrowed their superdrive), then transferred my info from my black macbook (latest revision, so has the volume keys as F10,F11,F12, play at F8 etc) via time machine. Once that had finished, I logged in on the air and tried to lower the brightness. It wouldn't work, so i tried the other F keys and they don't perform their functions.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have one thing that really bugs me about my Macbook Pro: There is no delete key! I've become accustomed to using this when typing, and really miss it on my Macbook.
I am aware that fn + backspace = delete, but Ideally, I'd like to reconfigure the eject button, to act as a delete key, and have it so that fn + eject would act as the 'eject' button.
I've downloaded a program for remapping keyboards called 'double command', but there is no option to do what I have explained, within this program.
So back in May all of a sudden my Delete key stopped working well, I had to press it twice basically to get a response. I also noticed that my tab key and my space key didn't work either, as well as my right arrow and my up arrow. All summer they worked fine, and now that school has started again they don't work well. Sometimes they don't work at all, sometimes space but not delete, sometimes they only work when I press twice, etc.
I brought this up in May and people said its keyboard failure and that I need to back everything up before I can't use my laptop. I disagreed, since if it was laptop failure it wouldn't be just 5 keys. I was right and here I am many months later. I crackedopen my(crap.there.goes.thespace.key.not.kidding 0) and every thing seemed ok. I closed it back up and now I am making this topic. What could be causing my TAB, DELETE, SPACEBAR, RIGHT ARROW, TOP ARROW, to not work, sometimes. Sometimes it works perfect for days/weeks, and then all of a sudden works 50% or not work at........
On the 13 inch macbook - can you pop off the keys individually and put them back on? Similar to say how you would on a standard keyboard? I wanted to know if anyone has done this? I thought I read in another post that you couldn't do this on the Macbook without removing the entire case? One of my kids spilled some soda on my keyboard and it is sticky. I wanted to know if I could just pop them off and clean it or if they don't just pop off.
