My keys are "sticking" and my mouse pad is not responding to touch.

I don't normally have my sound on, but I have of late. It seems that my keys may be sticking, or trackpad, or mouse .. Â
Symptoms: I can hear constant beeping, like you are clicking on a link that is not working, you get that Ding/beep. It is constant, like your continuing hitting the enter button on a link that is not working.Â
I reboot and the sound stops. I don't think it is the mouse - and I do not always have it turned on. Sometimes also when I log in, when you type password, there are characters already entered, and it keeps going ... I have to hard reboot.Â
As far as I know I have not dropped this laptop, nothing has been dropped on it. I can not see if any of the keys are pushed in, and the trackpad looks normal.Â

my trackpad is freaking out, it's possessed. It sticks, jumps all over and spazes out over every little move. my MacBookAir is around 9 monts old, kept very clean, no mess on the trackpad, clean hands/fingers and it's been going on for days now and I am about to stat freaking out too.

The trackpad button on my 2008 macbook is sticking and not working.

Recently the buttons on my trackpad stick, as there stuck down even when I touch the pad lightley it responds as though i'm clicking down when i'm not. This means that its perminantly clicking and highlighting. Its so annoying.I have googled it and had so many different answers on how to fix it, some said restart the laptop, some said it is a software problem and some said to tap the trackpad lightly. I have updated my laptop with the update that came through and the pad still sticks, and i have restarted my laptop and it still isnt fixed. Â
I dont know why this is happening as the laptop is only 8 months old and i take such good care of it. Is there anyway to fix this?

I have a problem with my MacBook Pro and its the fact that the trackpad is now sticking towards the bottom so there isn't a tactile click anymore, the trackpad just goes down. Im wondering if this is because I accidentally dropped something sticky into the bottom left corner or if it's just worn out. The bottom right and the middle of the trackpad is still clicking as if new.Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have found that my WiFi setting is not sticking. This is a problem when I'm trying to use my Apple TV which needs to be on the same network as my Mac. The WiFi keeps picking up a neighbors network. I change it back to mine, and then the next day it's on the neighbor's again.

I don't know if anyone else has ever had this problem, but it's driving me nutts. The trackpad button has done this once before where it would be real loud when you click it. There's a lot of play in it and sometimes clicks twice but only the second click registers... it's hard to explain.
The first time this happened it went awhile after a days use. However, now it's doing it again and it's been a few days now and it's so anoying!
I am having a problem with rules in Mail (OS X Lion 10.7.3). The action rules I make will not stick. We use an Exchange mail server. I want my selected messages to be:
1. Moved to a local (on my Mac) mail folder.
2. Copied to a folder on the Exchange server.
That way I will have a local permanent archive of my mail, and also be able to see recent messages on all my devices (home Mac, iPad). The problem is that after quitting and restarting Mail, the actions get changed so they act on the same folder (e.g. move and copy to my local Mail folder) rather than to the two different ones. I tried removing the old MessageRules.plist in my Library Mail folder, but that made no difference. The newly written rules do the same thing as before.

I have a strange problem with my Macbook - all works well on my Macbook Pro..Â
When I try to set things in the Safari Preferences - like 'enable extensions' and so forth. When I re-start Safari, they've gone back to the original state.Â
I've tried:Â
- Resetting Safari
- Fixing permissions
- Restarting the machineÂ
I've also looked at the Library folder, to see if things in the 'Safari' and 'Preferences' folder are changing and they are.Â
Even when I set up a new bookmark of some tabs, it works, and I can set it as a default start-up - but, when I restart Safari, it has lost the bookmarks folder.Â

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been using itunes for a while and it just messed my entire music library up! I've found something that is more Winamp style for me named "Cog". Now my problem is that I want to control it with the F7, F8, F9 keys which are the rewind, play and forward keys, but when pressing any of them it works both on itunes and cog player. How can I disable the Itunes link to it? I want it to control only Cog player.

what do the F5 and F6 keys do on my new 15-inch Macbook Pro?
I've turned whatever it is up and down, but notice no immediate differences.
They basically look like underscores with dots coming out of the top.
I just got a new Macbook Pro and f5 and f6 are used for the keyboard backlight. I don't need f6 but I'd like f5 to refresh the browsers. In preferences I can switch the f keys to be the default, but I just want this for f5. Does someone know how to do this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to assign the F5 and F6 keys on my Macbook to work as 'Page Up' and 'Page Down'. I'm not sure if it is possible to do this for all applications...If it's not, I would just want to use them in Firefox. I tried system preferences > keyboard and mouse > keyboard shortcuts...but had no luck..I don't know what menu command to enter when I create my own shortcut..I can't find page up or down in the menu for Firefox?
View 8 Replies View Related A will get here in a couple of days, so I was reading some reviews and came across this:"The secret is that this mobile system has a little fewer keys: there are only 79 of them, while Wintel notebooks have 88-key keyboards."Which keys are these?
I reinstalled OS X from a Leopard dvd earlier (took it to an apple store and borrowed their superdrive), then transferred my info from my black macbook (latest revision, so has the volume keys as F10,F11,F12, play at F8 etc) via time machine. Once that had finished, I logged in on the air and tried to lower the brightness. It wouldn't work, so i tried the other F keys and they don't perform their functions.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have one thing that really bugs me about my Macbook Pro: There is no delete key! I've become accustomed to using this when typing, and really miss it on my Macbook.
I am aware that fn + backspace = delete, but Ideally, I'd like to reconfigure the eject button, to act as a delete key, and have it so that fn + eject would act as the 'eject' button.
I've downloaded a program for remapping keyboards called 'double command', but there is no option to do what I have explained, within this program.
So back in May all of a sudden my Delete key stopped working well, I had to press it twice basically to get a response. I also noticed that my tab key and my space key didn't work either, as well as my right arrow and my up arrow. All summer they worked fine, and now that school has started again they don't work well. Sometimes they don't work at all, sometimes space but not delete, sometimes they only work when I press twice, etc.
I brought this up in May and people said its keyboard failure and that I need to back everything up before I can't use my laptop. I disagreed, since if it was laptop failure it wouldn't be just 5 keys. I was right and here I am many months later. I crackedopen my(crap.there.goes.thespace.key.not.kidding 0) and every thing seemed ok. I closed it back up and now I am making this topic. What could be causing my TAB, DELETE, SPACEBAR, RIGHT ARROW, TOP ARROW, to not work, sometimes. Sometimes it works perfect for days/weeks, and then all of a sudden works 50% or not work at........
can you take off the keys on the new macbook pro because someone spilled juice on my key board and some keys are sticking.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOn the 13 inch macbook - can you pop off the keys individually and put them back on? Similar to say how you would on a standard keyboard? I wanted to know if anyone has done this? I thought I read in another post that you couldn't do this on the Macbook without removing the entire case? One of my kids spilled some soda on my keyboard and it is sticky. I wanted to know if I could just pop them off and clean it or if they don't just pop off.
