View 6 Replies View RelatedI really dont like the black chiclet keys on the unibody MBP. Although I would really want them in classic grey, I was wondering: Would it be possible to buy a set of WHITE KEYS from the old Macbook 13 inch series, and put them in the new MBP Might sound crazy, but would be cool if it worked
View 23 Replies View RelatedThe new flat white keys are getting dusty. With the old white keyboards I was able to pull each key, put them into a suck and throw them into the washer machine and that was it But, can I pull this keys? And they are so easy to leak any cleaner to the inside and loose the entire keyboard. Any suggestions for cleaning? Other than covering the keys with some plastic protector.

Is there any app that will allow me to remap keys from my pad to keyboard keys ? For an example if i'll press a button on my pad - the text editor will type in a letter ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI currently use a keyboard protector (Moshi clearguard) on my MBP but after usage, the protector makes the keyboard really ugly to look at. It isn't as "clear" as many people have reviewed. Anyway, when I try using it without the protector, the oil from my fingertips (my fingers feel dry!) seem to make the keys glossy (the nasty kind of glossy)
I realize that I can use the keyboard without the protector, and then scrub it down every week but that seems like a huge hassle.
Is there a way I can make the keys look exactly like they look without the protector and still make it resistant from the gloss from the skin oil?
Maybe apply a small special film on each of the keys? or get some professional coating done on the keys?
The Moshi protector seemed somewhat clear when I first used it but after time, it really isn't clear and makes the keyboard look dirty
A couple days ago I accidentally spilled lemonade all over my room. I didn't think I had gotten any on my keyboard, but apparently I did, as some of my keys are now sticky and really hard to press. Is there any way that I can 'unstick' these myself, or do I have to take it to my nearest tech store? (fyi my keys are most sticky under the keyboard and not on top of them). The computer is a 2010 MacBook Pro. Also, is there a way to clean the surface of your keys? I'm not too thrilled about the way they look right now and I would like to try and get them back to what they looked like when I bought it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedNew mac convert, I have had my iMac aluminum keyboard for 3 months and the keys are getting a tiny bit grubby. I am thinking I can turn off, unplug, spray a mild cleaner on a soft cloth and clean it up, but I cannot find a single source anywhere on the web that confirms this is ok. Is there any reason I can't do this?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a white MacBook that is about 6 months old. I wash my hands alot, but it appears as though the oil on the keys lays on the screen when the laptop is closed. I know there are many topics on here to fix oil stains (I searched). But I want to know the most efficient and safest way to clean them off of the screen, and prevent it from happening again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is an issue I'm starting to notice on my 10 month old Macbook Pro 13 inch. There's this "white stain" on both palm rests of the MBP. Here's some sample pictures:

It cannot be cleaned off by wiping it, water, rubbing alcohol, etc. Note that I clean my MBP daily, even hourly, I always wash my hands and dry them before using this laptop, therefore, I know it's not a matter of sanitation.

Before I go into detail I have a Late 2008 Macbook White (Upgraded to 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD) so I would have had it two years this Christmas (2010) Over the last few months, on odd occasions the bottom row of keys completely stop working (by bottom row of keys I mean: Z X C V B N M < > ? and then fn ctrl alt and CMD on the row below. The space bar and right CMD work perfectly as does every other key on the keyboard.
Now this is where it gets really weird. I always thought this was a hardware issue (Loose ribbon connection etc, I just don't have the hours in the day to sit down and take it apart) until my friend gave me his old aluminium apple wireless bluetooth keyboard (the laptop sized one). The bottom row of my keyboard broke again whilst visiting him so we set up this aluminium keyboard of mine................
I have Canon MP810 printer/scanner and am using MBP 15" running Leopard (fully updated). I want to print in black and white (I don't want to waste the color inks for non-essential print jobs). There is no option for gray scale. Is there a way around this to make the printer print in black and white (gray scale)?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am the first person to think of this idea and publish it on the Internet time-stamped. Please use freely. I have an idea for the Macbook Pro keyboard. Make the sides of the macbook pro keys transparent acrylic black so that no hairs or dust can fall under there and let the light shine through the black transparent acrylic to create the same backlit keyboard effect.

The black frames show up small, large, etc., Right now, it encompasses this window.
I'll start off with a screenshot.I'm specifically talking about the bar on the right hand side, that slides from the red I chose to black. Is there anyway I could have that same sliding-type bar, only sliding from red to white? Is there anyway I could have them both up at the same time? (So I'd have two different sliding bars, one going to the black and one going to the white) (Or actually, even if they could be combined... that would be sweet too. So the sliding bar looks like ms paints sliding bar, basically white, color you have, black)If I'm a little bit too confusing please respond with your question and I'll try to explain it a little bit more.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am toying with switching my kids laptops to apple from windows. I bought a Macbook it has OSX 10.5.7. I don't want to have to count on my kids to switch every application to print in Greyscale (black and white). Where do I go to set this so that any printing they do from their account is in black and white by default? This is easy to do in Windows. For the life of me I can't figure out how to do it in OSX. This is shaping up to be a dealbreaker, unless I'm just missing something.

I have had my alum Macbook since its release, and have a personal preference issue about the black keys. Since 08 I have loved my slim IMac chicklet keyboard with the white keys, so much so that I purchased an apple bluetooth keyboard to type on for long typing excursions. I had the bluetooth keyboard right up against my Macbook and realized that the layout, size and shape of the keys were identical. I love the white keys simply for the contrast of the black letters on the white chicklets. I also hate how the keys are getting shiny black, just kinda feels cheap. I should try to swap the keys on these units? I would love the white keys on my macbook, but I am not sure if they attach the same. I don't have the backlit keys, so I wouldn't loose anything.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac 2.8 24 inch, about Two years old running 10.5.7 , when I start the computer it shows the normal Gray screen for about 30 seconds, then the screen goes all Black , but with a small flashing white line ( _ ) in the top Left hand side corner.
It just stays all Black for ever , I then hold down the On / Off button and turn off the computer, I then hold down the keyboard '' option key '' and press the on button at the same time , then I get the option to start from the main HDD , I click the Icon and the computer then starts normally , and every thing runs ok.
Can some one please tell me what I have to do to get my iMac to start up normally again , Ive run Repair Disk permissions but the problem still occurs . Over the last few day's Ive been trying out a few new applications, so not too sure if this has any thing to do with this current problem
